This comparison covers twelve other infrared and radiant heaters on amazon.co.uk, from a 50 W damp-wall panel to patio heaters of about 2 kW to 3 kW. You separate them by place, wattage, and whether the carton includes a thermostat, a remote, or only heat levels. Energy Saving Trust treats a non-glowing home panel and a glowing patio heater as different products, and advises against replacing a gas-heated house with infrared. Seller coverage figures are claims, not a British Standard. Use the [infrared heater buying guide](/hub/heating/steinfeld-infrared-heater/sub/steinfeld-infrared-heater-buying-guide) to choose panel, tower or patio bar before you read the ranking. An infrared heater is either a non-glowing indoor panel, a small carbon tower you point at a chair, or a glowing patio bar. A panel warms surfaces and the person in front of it. A patio tube glows and is sold for a seat outdoors. They do not belong in one ranking, and neither is a plan for replacing gas central heating across a house. Ask an assessor if infrared would be the only system.

This comparison covers twelve other infrared and radiant heaters on amazon.co.uk, from a 50 W damp-wall panel to patio heaters of about 2 kW to 3 kW.

The best Steinfeld infrared heaters in detail

SOUTHEATIC TW30R 3,000 W

Rank 1

SOUTHEATIC TW30R 3,000 W

∼£180

Our view

The SOUTHEATIC TW30R is a wall or ceiling heater with 1,000 W, 2,000 W and 3,000 W settings, a claimed IP65 rating and gold halogen tubes, listed at 96.5 by 16.2 by 10.5 cm and 5.12 kg. The remote is included, the battery is not, a timer is not stated, and the price in this file is £179.97. amazon.co.uk shows 4.7 stars from 11 reviews, and only five written texts are in the file. Those five mention strong heat, an easy fit, a swivel bracket and use over an outdoor seat without taking floor space. The lead is a bit short, one review calls the unit about a metre long and in need of clearance, and no failed element appears in those five texts. Eleven reviews can sit at 4.7 without telling you how the heater behaves after a wet winter. Treat the star line as early, and skip it if you want a sample in the hundreds.

Pros

  • Three settings up to 3,000 W, with IP65 claimed
  • Wall or ceiling mounting, and a swivel bracket mentioned by a reviewer
  • The five written reviews describe strong heat over an outdoor seat

Cons

  • Only 11 reviews and five written texts, so 4.7 stars is a thin sample
  • £179.97 is the highest price in this shortlist
  • Lead is a bit short, and the bar is about a metre long

Best for: A covered outdoor seat where you want up to 3,000 W and can accept a very small review count.

Less suitable: An indoor room, or any pick you want backed by hundreds of amazon.co.uk reviews.

Common questions

Can you use it in a garage?

The title and room type include a garage, backyard and patio. The bullets claim IP65 and overheat protection.

Does it have a timer?

The bullets do not state a timer. They do state three power settings and a remote. The battery is not included.

Is 3,000 W a normal plug load?

The listing states 3,000 W and does not print an amp figure. One reviewer says a 13 A fused plug was fitted and the lead was short.

SOUTHEATIC T10-GR20B 2,000 W

Rank 2

SOUTHEATIC T10-GR20B 2,000 W

∼£100

Our view

The SOUTHEATIC T10-GR20B is a 2,000 W carbon bar for wall or ceiling, 65 cm long and 1.95 kg, with a claimed IP65 rating, two speeds, a remote whose battery is not included, and no timer stated. amazon.co.uk shows 4.6 stars from 54 reviews, with 21 texts in the file. Those reviews describe fast heat in a garage gym and on an outside wall, a metal housing that felt solid for £99.99, and a wall fit that several buyers found straightforward. The supplied cable is the complaint that repeats, and buyers also say 2,000 W is expensive to run, which is their comment rather than a measured bill. Design niggles appear, and there is no repeated failed-element theme in those 21 texts. Fifty-four reviews is a better sample than eleven, and it is still a small base next to heaters with several hundred. It fits a fixed bar over a seat if you can live with a short lead.

Pros

  • 2,000 W carbon bar, IP65 claimed, for wall or ceiling
  • 4.6 stars from 54 reviews, with fast heat reported in a garage gym and on an outside wall
  • Metal housing described as solid for £99.99, and wall fitting called straightforward

Cons

  • Supplied cable is too short in the written reviews
  • Remote battery is not included, and a timer is not stated
  • 54 reviews is still a modest sample, and buyers flag the cost of running 2,000 W

Best for: A garage gym or an outside wall where a short 2,000 W bar can point at the seat.

Less suitable: A socket that sits far from the bracket, or a buyer who wants several hundred reviews.

Yes. The special-features line says the remote battery is not included, for safety.

Is it freestanding?

No. The listing is wall mounted, and the details also say ceiling mount.

Warmlite WL42013

Rank 3

Warmlite WL42013

∼£56

Our view

The Warmlite WL42013 is a freestanding indoor carbon tower, 80.5 cm tall and 2.2 kg, with 500 W and 1,000 W settings, 70° oscillation and overheat protection. The amazon.co.uk file prints the cable as 2 yards, does not state a timer or an IP rating, and prints coverage as 270 with no unit. The page shows 4.4 stars from 1,197 reviews, the largest review count at that rating in this shortlist, which is why it is the top pick for heat on you indoors. Reviewers describe warmth within about a minute in a shed, a bedroom or a draughty room, and several prefer the lack of a fan blast. The base is the complaint that returns: wobbly, floppy or not straight, and the build is called light rather than sturdy. One buyer found a self-tapping screw and a clip from the front grille on the carpet before use. It is a chair heater you can carry, not a rain-rated patio bar and not a fixed bathroom panel.

Pros

  • 4.4 stars from 1,197 amazon.co.uk reviews, the largest count at that rating here
  • 500 W or 1,000 W, 70° oscillation, a carry handle and overheat protection
  • Heat on the person within about a minute, including in a shed or a draughty room
  • Quiet, with no fan blast, at £56.46 and 2.2 kg

Cons

  • Base is described as wobbly, floppy or not straight
  • No IP rating and no timer in the amazon.co.uk file
  • One report of a loose grille screw on the carpet before use

Best for: A bedroom, a shed or a draughty room where you want heat on a chair and can live with a light base.

Less suitable: A fixed bathroom panel, a rainy patio, or a large room you expect this 1,000 W tower to heat evenly.

Can you use it in a large room?

The listing does not give a room size in square metres. Coverage is printed as 270 with no unit. Reviewers describe heat on the person, including in a shed or a draughty room.

Is it easy to move?

Yes. It weighs 2.2 kg and has a carry handle. Reviews often say the base feels loose.

Harrier 2,000 W patio heater

Rank 4

Harrier 2,000 W patio heater

∼£49

Our view

The Harrier from Net World Sports is a 2,000 W radiant tower, 211 cm tall and 9 kg, for a wall or the floor, with three heat levels and a head that tilts from 0 to 45 degrees, and the title does not say infrared. The listing states IPX4, a 1.8 m lead and a coverage figure of 200 square feet. It is £48.99 in this amazon.co.uk file, with 4.4 stars from 342 reviews, which is why it is the best value here: the lowest shelf price among heaters at 4.4 stars with at least 300 reviews. Buyers call it easy to assemble, with decent heat for the money under a gazebo and in a garage, and the stand is described as stable once it is built. The flex is the complaint that repeats, and several people say it does not reach past the base. It also gets very hot close up. There is no Wi-Fi and no timer in the file, so it suits an outdoor seat near a socket and it is a poor fit if the only plug is across the patio.

Pros

  • £48.99 with 4.4 stars from 342 reviews
  • 2,000 W, three heat levels, and a head that tilts from 0 to 45 degrees
  • IPX4 claimed; used under a gazebo and in a garage, with a stand described as stable once built

Cons

  • The 1.8 m lead is repeatedly called too short to reach past the base
  • Gets very hot close up
  • Title does not say infrared, and the file states no Wi-Fi and no timer

Best for: A gazebo, garage or patio seat close to a socket, where you want 2,000 W without paying patio-bar money.

Less suitable: A room that needs a thermostat or Wi-Fi, or a patio where the only socket is more than a short lead away.

Common questions

The bullets do not state a timer. They do state three heat levels.

How long is the cable?

The bullets say 1.8 m. Reviews often say that does not reach past the base when the tower is at full height.

Devola DVPH2000B

Rank 5

Devola DVPH2000B

∼£110

Our view

The Devola DVPH2000B is a wall heater whose title says 2,000 W, IP65 and Wi-Fi, while the details table says 1,200 W, IP24, indoor use and one speed, and the bullets add a remote, four settings, a 24-hour timer and a seller claim of rooms up to 20 m². It weighs 3.2 kg, and amazon.co.uk shows 4.4 stars from 157 reviews. Comments praise quick heat, including a pair bought for a workshop bench, and several people found it easy to install and fair for £109.99. The cable is too short once the heater is high on the wall, and Wi-Fi is described as weak unless the router is very close. At least one buyer found the heat disappointing, a review says the remote needs a CR2032 before it will work, and one report mentions outdoor LED lights flickering on full power. One reviewer uses a unit in a bathroom, which is not an IP certificate. Do not choose the mounting spot from the title until you know which IP line matches the unit in the box.

Pros

  • 4.4 stars from 157 reviews, with quick heat reported on a workshop bench
  • Bullets claim Wi-Fi, a remote, four settings and a 24-hour timer
  • Several buyers found it easy to install and fair for £109.99

Cons

  • Title says 2,000 W and IP65; the details table says 1,200 W and IP24
  • Cable is short once the heater is mounted high, and Wi-Fi needs the router close by
  • Remote needs a CR2032 according to a review, and one bathroom install is not a rating

Best for: A workshop bench or a patio wall, after you have checked which wattage and IP rating are on the unit.

Less suitable: A bathroom chosen from the title, or Wi-Fi control from the far end of a garden.

Common questions

Which IP rating is on the listing?

The bullets say IP65. The technical details special-features line says IP24. The file does not resolve the difference.

Does it come with a remote?

The bullets include a smart remote and a 24-hour timer. A review says you need a CR2032 before the remote works. That battery is not in the specification table.

What wattage should you plan for?

The title says 2 kW and the details table says 1,200 W. The table also lists 8.33 A at 240 V. Use the rating plate on the unit you receive.

INGRIKT 50 W damp-wall panel

Rank 6

INGRIKT 50 W damp-wall panel

∼£40

Our view

The INGRIKT PH-ET03H is a 50 W panel sold for damp walls and condensation, not as a room heater, and the listing claims IP44, a 1.52 m cable, and wall or freestanding use. The file gives two sizes: a bullet says 1.1 cm thin and 1.45 kg, while the table says 16 × 50 × 18 cm and 1.5 kg. Fifteen amazon.co.uk reviews average 4.2 stars, and only six texts are in the file. Those buyers mention a cold door, a damp wall and a porch, and one says it does the small job they bought it for. No complaint repeats across more than one of those six texts. One reviewer measured about 78°C on the surface, a 50 W draw, and about a 3°C rise in a mouldy corner, which is one note and not a mould test. At £39.99 it is the cheapest listing here, and it will not stand in for a 450 W panel if the room itself is what you want warm.

Pros

  • 50 W and a low running draw, which buyers mention as the point of it
  • IP44 claimed, with wall or freestanding mounting
  • Used on a cold door, a damp wall and a porch in the six written reviews

Cons

  • Not a room heater; one review recorded about a 3°C rise in a corner
  • Two different sizes are printed in the same file
  • Only 15 reviews, and one surface reading was about 78°C

Best for: A cold door, a damp patch or a porch, where 50 W is the job.

Less suitable: Heating a bathroom, a bedroom or any room you expect to feel warm.

Common questions

Does it need maintenance?

The listing does not state a maintenance interval. It describes a fanless panel with no chemical spray.

How much power does it use?

The title and bullets say 50 W. One review also describes a 50 W draw. That is not a room-heater output.

Pro Breeze PB-H16-UK

Rank 7

Pro Breeze PB-H16-UK

∼£80

Our view

The Pro Breeze PB-H16-UK is a halogen infrared patio heater with 1,000 W and 2,000 W settings, a remote, and wall or ceiling mounting, at 1.9 kg with a 182 cm cable. The listing claims IP65 when you use an IP65 outdoor socket, and it states a one-year warranty. amazon.co.uk shows 4.1 stars from 316 reviews. Buyers report strong heat on the low setting as well as at full power, on a balcony or a small patio, and some use it in a workshop or a shed where a fan heater had felt draughty. The metal build struck some people as sturdier than the £79.99 price. The mains cable is too short for many, the instructions are thin, and one manual used indoor-only wording that led to a return, while the heat stays local so you need to sit near it. There is no widespread element-failure theme in the first 50 texts in the file.

Pros

  • 1,000 W and 2,000 W, with a remote, for wall or ceiling
  • IP65 claimed when used with an IP65 outdoor socket
  • 4.1 stars from 316 reviews, with strong heat reported even on the low setting
  • Used on a balcony, a small patio, and in a workshop or shed

Cons

  • 182 cm cable is too short for many buyers
  • Instructions are thin, and one indoor-only manual led to a return
  • Heat is local; you need to sit near it

Best for: A small patio, balcony or shed beside an IP65 outdoor socket.

Less suitable: A long run from the socket, or a covered seat you expect this one bar to heat from across the garden.

Devola DVPH2400B

Rank 8

Devola DVPH2400B

∼£120

Our view

The Devola DVPH2400B is a wall patio heater whose title says 2,400 W and IP65, while the details table lists 1,200 W, and the same file lists 10 A at 240 V, which multiplies to about 2,400 W, so both watt figures stay unresolved. It weighs 3.8 kg, and the bullets claim Wi-Fi, a remote, four settings and a 24-hour timer. amazon.co.uk shows 4.1 stars from 262 reviews. Written comments praise strong heat on a balcony, a patio or in a garage, often below full power, and many people found the mount easy. The bracket does not angle for at least one buyer, who says it only points down, and reviews say there is no switch on the body, so a dead or crushed remote leaves you with no control. The lead is shorter than some people wanted. One report describes leaking and the Wi-Fi dropping after light rain, and some units arrived damaged.

Pros

  • Wall patio heater with a remote, four settings and a 24-hour timer claimed
  • Strong heat on a balcony, patio or in a garage in a sample of 262 reviews at 4.1 stars
  • Many buyers found the wall mount straightforward and often run it below full power

Cons

  • Title says 2,400 W and IP65; the details table says 1,200 W
  • No switch on the body, so the remote is the only control
  • Bracket may only point down, the lead is short for some, and one report cites leaking after light rain

Best for: A balcony, patio or garage wall where you can verify the wattage on the unit and keep the remote safe.

Less suitable: A bathroom, or anyone who needs a switch on the heater itself and a listing that agrees with its own table.

Könighaus 800 W Smart Dual

Rank 9

Könighaus 800 W Smart Dual

∼£170

Our view

The Könighaus 800 W Smart Dual is a 90 cm square white panel, 9 kg, sold with Wi-Fi, a remote, a towel rail and feet, and the listing claims IP44, though one bullet still tells you to mount the 450 W panel. amazon.co.uk shows 4.1 stars from 159 reviews, yet only five written texts are in the file. The praise in those five is thin: a sleek look, and one buyer who called the heat instant. Another saw about a 1°C rise after two hours and suspected a fault, while a third called it large for the wattage, slow to warm a room, and sent it back. One reviewer says it behaves like a hot metal panel rather than the infrared effect they expected. One unit arrived bent on one edge inside an undamaged outer box. Check the watt line on the unit you receive before you treat this as a straightforward step up from the 450 W model.

Pros

  • 800 W panel with Wi-Fi, a remote, a towel rail and feet claimed
  • IP44 is claimed, and the panel is 90 cm square
  • One buyer described the heat as instant and the look as sleek

Cons

  • One bullet still says 450 W
  • Only five written reviews; one buyer saw about a 1°C rise after two hours
  • Described as large for the wattage, and one unit arrived bent

Best for: A bedroom wall where you want a larger Könighaus panel with an app, after you confirm it is the 800 W unit.

Less suitable: A large room heated by this panel alone, or a buyer who needs the listing text to match the title.

Könighaus 600 W P-600

Rank 10

Könighaus 600 W P-600

∼£122

Our view

The Könighaus P-600 is a 600 W wall panel, 60 by 100 cm and 11 kg, with a 1.80 m cable and a mounting kit, and the listing does not include a thermostat, a remote or a stand. It prints no IP rating, though the seller talks about roughly 8–16 m², and a five-year manufacturer warranty is claimed. Only 23 amazon.co.uk reviews are on the page, at 4.0 stars, with ten written texts in the file. Those texts call the heat strong and quiet in a small room, and more than one person says they bought another panel. One delivery arrived bent with brackets missing, and one reviewer could not feel the heat. A burning smell appears in the file, and one review says the unit burst and the smell came back. This is a bare wall panel you would pair with your own control, not a finished heater with a dial in the carton.

Pros

  • 600 W wall panel with a mounting kit and a 1.80 m cable
  • Reviewers describe strong, quiet heat in a small room
  • A five-year manufacturer warranty is claimed

Cons

  • No thermostat, remote or stand in the box, and no IP rating in the file
  • Only 23 reviews; one bent delivery with brackets missing
  • A burning smell, and one review says the unit burst

Best for: A small room where you already have a separate thermostat and only need a wall panel.

SOUTHEATIC T20-GR20 2,000 W

Rank 11

SOUTHEATIC T20-GR20 2,000 W

∼£140

Our view

The SOUTHEATIC T20-GR20 is a freestanding 2,000 W carbon patio heater, 3.55 kg, with eight heat levels, an eight-hour timer and a remote whose battery is not included. The listing claims IP65, the details call it outdoor, and the bullets also say indoor, while the form-factor line mentions both a wall mount and standing on the ground. Twenty-three amazon.co.uk reviews average 4.0 stars, with 20 texts in the file. Buyers report that the heat comes on quickly, and they use the levels and the timer on a seating area or a holiday-home patio. The remote draws criticism, and some people found the heater taller or slimmer than the photos. Instructions are a complaint, and no single broken part repeats across those 20 texts. You can stand it beside a chair if you accept a thin review sample and a listing that does not agree with itself about where it belongs.

Pros

  • Eight heat levels and an eight-hour timer on a freestanding 2,000 W carbon heater
  • IP65 is claimed, and buyers use it on a patio or holiday-home seating area
  • Heat is described as quick to appear

Cons

  • Remote battery is not included, and the remote itself draws criticism
  • Listing disagrees on indoor versus outdoor and on wall versus freestanding
  • Only 23 reviews, and the proportions did not match the photos for some buyers

Best for: A covered seating area where you want a freestanding 2,000 W heater with a timer.

Less suitable: A fixed wall bar, a bathroom, or a purchase that depends on a large review sample.

Common questions

Can you use it in the rain?

The bullets claim IP65 and say the housing is meant to withstand rain, snow and dust. That is the seller’s rating, not a separate test in this file.

Does it have a timer?

Yes. The listing states an eight-hour timer and eight heat levels. The remote battery is not included.

Is it freestanding?

The bullets describe a standing heater you assemble and place where you need it. The details line also mentions wall mounting.

Könighaus 450 W Smart Dual

Rank 12

Könighaus 450 W Smart Dual

∼£100

Our view

The Könighaus 450 W Smart Dual is a white indoor panel, 70 cm square and 5 kg, and reviewers use it for a home office or one floor rather than a whole house. Across 582 amazon.co.uk reviews it sits at 3.8 stars. Written comments praise quiet heat on you when you sit close, and an app set-up that worked with iOS and with existing Tuya devices. The listing states 450 W, Wi-Fi schedules, a remote, a towel rail, feet and IP44. Several buyers found it weak once the room was larger than a small, well-insulated space, and one report put a sensor above 100°C on the front. A burning smell on first use comes up more than once, and the promise of sun-like heat did not match some results. Temperature control is described as odd, so you are buying a tidy panel for a chair or a small room, with a hot face and a rating that already shows the limit.

Pros

  • 450 W panel with feet, a towel rail and wall fixings in the listing
  • Wi-Fi schedules and a remote are claimed, and reviewers describe a straightforward app set-up
  • Quiet heat on the person in a home office or other small space, across 582 reviews at 3.8 stars
  • IP44 is claimed on the listing

Cons

  • Weak once the room is larger than a small, well-insulated space
  • Front runs very hot; one reviewer reports a sensor above 100°C
  • Burning smell on first use, and temperature control described as odd

Best for: A home office or one seated spot where you want a quiet 450 W panel and can use the app.

Less suitable: A larger living room as the only heater, or anyone who needs the face to stay cool to the touch.

Common questions

Can you use this panel in a bathroom?

The listing says IP44 and that the panel is designed for suitable bathroom and humid indoor use. It does not name a bathroom zone.

Does it have a timer?

The bullets say you can set heating times and weekly schedules in the Wi-Fi app. A remote is included.

Can it stand on the floor?

Yes. The listing includes stand feet as well as wall-mounting parts, and a towel rail.

How we compared

The 0–100 score on each row is the amazon.co.uk star rating multiplied by 20, from listings captured on 15 October 2026. That number was not reduced for a thin sample, a short lead or a conflict inside the listing. Those limits sit in the product text. The top pick is a separate gate: the indoor heater with the largest review count at 4.4 stars. Best value is the lowest shelf price among heaters with at least 300 reviews at 4.4 stars. The weights below describe what we read when we wrote the verdict and chose the top pick and the best value. They do not change the score. We did not run a lab test.

1

Amazon.co.uk stars

40%

The published score is the star rating times 20. A 4.7 from 11 reviews therefore scores above a 4.4 from 1,197, which is why that thin sample is not the top pick.

2

Review count

25%

The count decides the top pick and the best value, not a second score. The top pick is the largest review count at 4.4 stars. Best value needs at least 300 reviews at 4.4 stars, then the lowest GBP shelf price.

3

Listing fields and conflicts

20%

Type, wattage, place, mounting, IP mark, controls and heat levels, plus any clash between the title and the details table. A missing figure stays blank. Written review themes stay in the product text.

4

Shelf price

15%

The GBP price on that amazon.co.uk page, captured on 15 October 2026. The lowest price does not win on its own. A 50 W damp-wall panel is not the value comparison for a 2,000 W tower.

Choosing an infrared heater

Separate the job before you compare the price. A non-glowing panel, a carbon tower and a glowing patio bar are different products. Prices below are the twelve amazon.co.uk shelf prices captured on 15 October 2026. We did not run a lab test, and a seller’s square-metre claim is not a British Standard.

What is an infrared heater?

An infrared heater in this comparison is either a non-glowing indoor panel, a small carbon tower you point at a chair, or a glowing patio bar. Energy Saving Trust treats those as different products. A panel warms surfaces and the person in front of it. A patio tube glows and is sold for a seat outdoors. They do not belong in one ranking, and neither is a plan for replacing gas central heating across a house. Ask an assessor if infrared would be the only system.

Best for

  • Plug-in heat on one person indoors, when you can accept a light tower and no IP rating
  • A patio, gazebo or garage seat close to a socket, where a short lead still reaches

Not ideal for

  • Replacing gas central heating across the house
  • A bathroom zone chosen from a title IP line, or a 50 W panel used as a room heater

Mistakes to avoid

  1. 1

A small panel for a large lounge

UK guidance often puts home panels at 350–900 W. That is a chair or a small room. Expecting 450–800 W to heat a large lounge is a common miss, and a 50 W panel is not a room heater.

  2. 2

One winner for panel and patio

Energy Saving Trust treats a non-glowing home panel and a glowing patio heater as different products. Mixing them into one ranking hides the job you actually have.

  3. 3

A title IP that the table does not match

Both Devola listings disagree between the bullets and the details table, on wattage and, for the 2,000 W title, on IP65 against IP24. Use the rating plate on the unit, not the longer line in the title.

What to weigh up

Job, place and wattage

High

Decide the place first: a small indoor room, a damp corner, or a patio, gazebo, balcony or garage. UK guidance often puts home panels at 350–900 W. Seller square-metre bands are claims, not a British Standard. About 3 kW is 13 A at 230 V, the top of a BS 1363 plug. Energy Saving Trust advises against replacing a gas-heated house with infrared.

Controls, water and the lead

High

A thermostat is not three heat levels. The Könighaus 600 W listing includes no thermostat. Several patio heaters switch only from a remote, and the battery is not in the box. IP44, IPX4, IP65 or a blank line are not the same claim, and a title can disagree with the table. Short leads recur in patio reviews. In England, electrical work around a bath or shower is notifiable under Approved Document P unless a competent person self-certifies it.

Which option suits you?

Three typical situations, each with a recommendation from this comparison.

One chair indoors

You want plug-in heat on a person in a bedroom, a home office or a draughty room, not a new circuit. The Warmlite WL42013 is about £56.46, rated 4.4 from 1,197 reviews, at 500 W or 1,000 W. The base is light, and the listing prints no IP rating.

Our recommendation

View offer

Patio, gazebo or garage

You want electric radiant heat instead of a gas bottle, and the socket is close. The Harrier 2,000 W tower is about £48.99, rated 4.4 from 342 reviews, with IPX4 and a 1.8 m lead that reviewers say does not reach past the base.

A damp patch

You are buying for a cold door, a damp wall or a porch, not to warm the room. The INGRIKT 50 W panel is about £39.99, rated 4.2 from 15 reviews, with IP44 claimed. It is not a mould cure, and a bathroom circuit still needs an electrician.

Common questions about Steinfeld infrared heaters

Which infrared heater is the top pick in this comparison?
The top pick is the Warmlite WL42013, a freestanding indoor carbon tower at about £56.46. amazon.co.uk lists 4.4 stars from 1,197 reviews, the largest count at 4.4 stars in this set. It offers 500 W and 1,000 W, 70° oscillation and a carry handle. The published score is the star rating times 20, not a lab test. The base is often called wobbly, and the listing prints no IP rating and no timer.
How much does an infrared heater cost on amazon.co.uk?
Shelf prices on these twelve listings, captured on 15 October 2026, run from about £39.99 to about £179.97. Under £60 sit the INGRIKT 50 W panel, the Harrier and the Warmlite. From about £80 to £130 you will find the Pro Breeze, the Könighaus 450 W and both Devola wall heaters. Above £130 sit a freestanding SOUTHEATIC 2 kW, the Könighaus 800 W and the SOUTHEATIC 3 kW. A higher price here is not a longer review history.
What should you check before you buy an infrared heater?
Check the job before the stars. A 450–800 W panel suits a small room or one seat, not a large lounge. A glowing patio bar is a different product from a non-glowing panel. Read the IP line against the details table, because both Devola listings disagree with themselves. Check the lead, and whether the remote needs a battery that is not in the box. About 3 kW is 13 A at 230 V, the top of a BS 1363 plug.
How much does an infrared heater cost to run per hour?
Using the Ofgem Direct Debit average for 1 October to 31 December 2026, 26.32 p/kWh in England, Scotland and Wales, and excluding the 54.83 p/day standing charge, a rule of thumb is about 11.8 p an hour at 450 W, 26.3 p at 1,000 W, 52.6 p at 2,000 W and 79.0 p at 3,000 W. That cap is not Northern Ireland’s. A thermostat is not full power all hour. See infrared heater cost per hour.
Can you use one of these infrared heaters in a bathroom?
Match the IP mark to the zone. A title claim is not permission to fit a heater inside a bath or shower. Zone 0 is inside the bath or shower. Herschel’s UK FAQ discusses IP44 for zone 2. In England, electrical work around a bath or shower is notifiable under Approved Document P unless a competent person self-certifies it. The INGRIKT 50 W panel is for a damp patch, not a room. None of these listings names a zone.
Should you buy an indoor panel or a patio heater?
Choose a panel when you want quiet heat on a person in a small indoor room. Energy Saving Trust often puts home panels at 350–900 W. Choose a glowing patio heater when the seat is outside, in a gazebo, on a balcony or in a garage, and you can solve the lead and the socket. Do not pick one winner across both jobs. The same guidance advises against replacing gas central heating wholesale with infrared.
Are these heaters made by Steinfeld?
No. A search on 15 October 2026 did not find a Steinfeld heater on amazon.co.uk. The name on this page is the category. The twelve listings are Warmlite, Harrier, Könighaus, Devola, Pro Breeze, SOUTHEATIC and INGRIKT. Do not treat a German euro price as the UK shelf price. Stars and review counts here are from the amazon.co.uk page for that ASIN.
When should you call an electrician, or choose a towel rail instead?
Call an electrician for a new bathroom circuit, a new outdoor socket, water in the case, a damaged flex or a tripping RCD. Call an assessor before infrared is the only heating in the home. A 50 W panel is not a mould cure, and 450–800 W will not heat a large lounge. If you want a rail that warms towels, that is a towel radiator, not one of these panels.

Our verdict

The top pick is SOUTHEATIC T10-GR20B 2,000 W, with the highest score in this comparison (9 out of 10, from 54 amazon.co.uk reviews). For an outdoor tower, the best value is the Harrier at about £48.99, rated 4.4 from 342 reviews, the lowest price among heaters with at least 300 reviews at 4.4 stars, if the 1.8 m lead reaches the socket. A panel and a patio bar are different jobs, and neither replaces gas central heating.
