Garden hose holder buying guide

Updated: October 2026

You are at the outdoor tap with a hose still on the patio, and the amazon.co.uk title says reel, 150 ft, or stainless without a bore or a wall. A wall hose holder in this set is a fixed hook. You coil by hand. This garden hose holder buying guide is the order of checks before you sort by stars: length with bore, then the fixings, then the metal as written. Prices stay on the [wall hose holders](/hub/garden-watering/wall-hose-holder) comparison. Products Compared read the listings on 16 October 2026. There is no laboratory load test. What a wall hose holder actually is

None of the nine has a drum, a crank, or an auto-rewind. SMARYONG, both Josmimic hangers, ZHABAYEN, and HUIQIHANG still put reel in the title. That word describes the job you do with your hands. You walk the hose back, make a coil, and drop it on the hook. If you will not do that after every watering, the exit is a crank or an auto-rewind, which the hose hanger versus hose reel page sets out without adding a reel to this table. Shop hangers often state capacity by bore. A Gardena bracket can be split into 35 m of 13 mm, 25 m of 15 mm, and 20 m of 19 mm. A Hozelock hanger elsewhere is up to 30 m of 19 mm plastic. Neither is in this set. They show why a lone 150 ft line is weaker than a length tied to a diameter.

Length and bore together

Convert the feet once. 100 ft is 30.48 m, 125 ft is 38.10 m, and 150 ft is 45.72 m. brackit, B07DCZR17N, at £11.99, already pairs length and bore: up to 50 m of 1/2 inch hose when hung high, and a stated load of 20 kg. GARTOL, B07XC5JGBD, at £12.10, says up to 125 ft (38.10 m) and then states two loads, 165 lb (74.84 kg) and 125 lb (56.70 kg). Keep both. Averaging them invents a third number. SMARYONG, B0BYZKWN5Y, at £8.28, says up to 150 ft and states no load. A stainless title is not a longer hose. The wall can still reject a well-sized claim, which is why the how to fit a hose holder page starts from a bracket you already own.

Fixings and the wall

brackit’s bullet includes 3 cm screws and wall plugs. Reviews call them too short or too weak, and at least one order arrived with none. SMARYONG’s box is two screws and two drywall anchors, the wrong family for outside brick. The Josmimic alloy bullet says three stainless screws and three concrete anchors. The components line says two screws and two drywall anchors. The surface recommendation is concrete. The SS304 table lists no fixings, while reviews describe plugs, stainless screws, and a spare. The screw has to pass through the plug, and you drill the brick face, not the mortar. Render is not the anchor. External insulation needs a specialist. A light hanger still carries a wet hose. None of these nine includes a check valve.

Metal as written

Only B0DGPZG3NC names SS304. SMARYONG, Ghligna, and the HUIQIHANG colour field say stainless without a grade. Stainless without a grade is not a rust ranking. brackit is powder-coated alloy steel. GARTOL’s bullet says high carbon steel and a wear-resistant coating. Navoys is iron, and one review says it rusted very quickly, against a line that says rust resistant. ZHABAYEN’s bullet says Q235 steel. Do not treat brackit’s weatherproof as a test.

What the stars cannot settle

Read the count before the stars. A 5.0 from one or three reviews cannot outrank a pool of several hundred. Navoys is a tap hook for an expandable hose, not a brick bracket. If the hose is expandable, do not wrap it on these frames. Easy Garden Irrigation says an expandable hose should not be wrapped on a holder.

Common questions

How long a hose can a wall holder take?
Only brackit states length and bore together: up to 50 m of 1/2 inch when hung high, plus 20 kg. Elsewhere a foot figure is not a bore. 150 ft is 45.72 m, and one SMARYONG review preferred 100 ft of expandable hose to 150 ft. Match the claim, then still check the wall.
Why does the same holder quote two capacities?
GARTOL prints 165 lb (74.84 kg) and 125 lb (56.70 kg) and does not say which is the hose. A Gardena-style split, such as 35 m of 13 mm against 20 m of 19 mm, is clearer. If length is not tied to diameter, treat the longer number as a title.
Are the screws in the box usable in UK brick?
Often not. brackit’s 3 cm screws are the repeating complaint, and GARTOL reviewers fit 5 cm or No 8 by 1 1/2 inch screws. SMARYONG supplies drywall anchors. The Josmimic alloy bullet and components line disagree on the count. Use a screw that passes through a masonry plug.
What does stainless mean if no grade is named?
Only B0DGPZG3NC says SS304. The other stainless lines name no grade, and HUIQIHANG also says iron and black metal. A grade is not a rust test. It is the wording you can quote. One brackit review still reported rust after a second winter.
Is a title that says reel a crank?
No. None of these nine has a drum or a crank. You coil and hang. A real crank or auto-rewind sits well above £6.48 to £18.99. If reel appears only in the title, you are buying a hook and you coil it.
Should you trust a 5.0 from one or three reviews?
Not as a rank. Ghligna has one review and ZHABAYEN three. HUIQIHANG has no review line. SMARYONG’s 4.6 comes from 1,192 reviews. Stars without a pool say little about screws or a 30 m hose. Read the count on the main table first.
