Wooden garden swing weather care

Updated: 22 October 2026

The seat is already outside, and teak oil looks like the single answer. Wooden garden swing weather care depends on the species the listing names. Oil is a colour choice on real teak, and a poor rescue for a glued seat the page never identified. The [wooden garden swing comparison](/hub/garden-furniture/garden-swing-wood) holds the table. Prices and notes below are the saved amazon.co.uk extracts. A cover does not rewrite a species line. Peter F. read those listings on 22 October 2026. This is not a laboratory test. Teak can silver

The only kept row that names teak is the SAM bench at £221.07, about 120 cm wide, with a 120 kg field. The brand field is junado. The title says weatherproof, and there is no United Kingdom review in the file. The RHS baseline is soapy water. Teak can turn silvery grey and still be sound. Jati advises against teak oil because it can feed mildew. Other shops still sell oil for a honey tone, and Bramblecrest warns it can turn teak black and sticky. Oiling SAM is an appearance choice. Ropes and chains are not named.

Teak oil on meranti is not teak

The Furinno Tioman at £145.83 is dark red meranti treated with teak oil. It is the top pick for a covered porch, and the timber is still meranti. The bullet says 156 kg and the field says 220 pounds. Those lines stay on the wooden garden swing buying guide. A B&Q Tioman with a stand is a different product. Do not copy its yearly oil onto this row. Dark red meranti is described as class II to class IV, so it is not one outdoor life for this ASIN.

Seats the listing tells you to keep dry

KINSPORY at £19.99 names no species. United Kingdom reviews describe splits, mould on arrival, and break-up outdoors within a year. Oil will not close glue that has opened. Under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, section 9, that early split can still be unsatisfactory at £19.99. Pellor’s bullet names beech and the field also says pine. A United Kingdom update reported rot in three months in a dry summer, after one use, under the 100 kg field. Both Favuit listings say store the seat dry and share one review text. AnExer’s field says oak and wood. A finish does not repair a rope that failed in about two weeks.

A treated softwood frame is a different object

The TP Forest Acorn at £159.99 is pressure-treated FSC pine or spruce, aged 6 months to 8 years on the listing, with a 60 kg field. Five years against rot, one year for parts, and another period on the maker’s page are paperwork, not a care schedule. FSC does not mean rot-proof. The seat is not in the box. Anchors and that missing seat are on tree swing or wooden swing frame. MDDKOP at £266.66 mentions weather resistance, names no species, and has no reviews. Which listing fits is on the best wooden garden swing page.

Common questions

Can teak stay outside without oil?
The RHS says oily hardwoods such as teak can stay out, washed with soapy water, and the colour can shift from golden brown to silver. Good teak can last with no oil. Jati advises against oil because it can feed mildew. Other shops still offer oil for a honey tone. On the SAM bench, the only teak row here, either path is an appearance choice. The weatherproof line has no United Kingdom review behind it.
The bench says teak oil. Is the wood teak?
On the Furinno Tioman, the wood named is dark red meranti. Teak oil is the treatment in the bullet, and the finish field says oil rubbed. The SAM bench is the listing that names teak. A yearly-oil line on a B&Q version with a stand is a different product. It does not add a stand, a cushion, or a single load figure to the amazon row, which still prints both 156 kg and 220 pounds.
My cheap wooden seat split. Was I supposed to oil it first?
KINSPORY does not name a species, and UK reviews describe glued pieces splitting outdoors within a year. Oil does not turn that seat into teak. If the strips have opened, oil sits on a joint that has already failed. An early failure can still be unsatisfactory under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, section 9, at £19.99.
The Favuit bullet says store it dry. Can I leave that seat out?
The bullet says store it dry and avoid long sun or rain. Species is not named on either Favuit ASIN, and the 4.4 from 71 is one shared review text, not two outdoor trials. Leave it out only if you ignore that bullet. The 66 cm page still carries a 56 cm size line, which is a listing problem, not a weather test.
Beech on a swing seat: what did UK buyers report?
Pellor’s bullet says beech and the field also lists pine. One United Kingdom review, updated after the seat replaced a plastic one, reported rot and splinters within three months in a dry summer. The writer says they were under 100 kg and used it once. That is a single update, and it is enough to stop you treating beech on this listing as a leave-it-out timber. The 4.3 from 596 does not erase the update.
Will a cover fix a seat that is already splitting?
A cover keeps rain off a seat that is still sound. It does not close a glued joint, and it does not turn meranti with teak oil into teak. On KINSPORY, the split is the problem. On Favuit, the bullet already says store it dry. On SAM, silvering is a colour change the RHS describes, not a split.
