Klarstein wall mounted or freestanding: which fire fits the room

Updated: 22 October 2026

You are choosing a Klarstein electric fire and the photos will not tell you whether it hangs or stands. In this amazon.co.uk set the Lamington and the Lausanne are glass on the wall, and the two Bormios stand on the floor. The heaters are all about 1900 W or 2000 W, so the watts will not choose for you. Fixing, weight, and the patch of floor you can spare are the decision. Same heat, different place

Klarstein's own category splits electric fires into wall fires and free-standing fires. The heater guide calls both forms zone heating. The Lamington is 2000 W. The Lausanne is 1000 W or 2000 W. Both Bormios are listed at 1900 W. The brand page for Bormio model 10032590 states 950 W or 1900 W and limits that model to a well-insulated room or occasional use. None of that makes the stove a stronger heater than the wall fire. There is no flue on either type. You are choosing whether the appliance is fixed or whether you can still slide it out to hoover. A renter who cannot drill is already halfway to the Bormios, and a flat with no spare floor is already halfway to the wall pair. Coverage figures do not belong in this choice.

Glass on the wall

The Lamington (B09RPZD4N4) is the vertical one: 14 cm deep, 40 cm wide, 87 cm high, 9.5 kg, wall mount, £270.79 in this file. It is still a fixing into a wall, not a picture hook. One buyer found it narrower than expected because they had not measured. The Lausanne (B00H58MNGO) is the horizontal one: 88 cm wide, 56 cm high, 17 kg, wall or built-in, at £267.39. One review describes about 20 minutes and five screws. That is not a reason to start if you cannot name the wall. Forty centimetres will not become 88 cm because both are called wall fires. If you cannot drill, look at the floor.

A Bormio on the floor

The Bormio S (B07YZJSC4F) and the taller Bormio (B07JVGYXK8) both say freestanding. A newer Klarstein shop page that talks about hanging a Bormio does not apply to these two ASINs. The short one is about 49 cm wide, with an item line of 33 × 49 × 64 cm and 18 kg, at £204.09. A second size line conflicts, and a 79 cm chamber height matches the taller stove, so the carton is the measurement that counts. The tall one is model 10032590, 35.5 × 49 × 79 cm, 22 kg, at £400, with space underneath for decorative logs. You can move either of them if the floor is clear. They are not inserts for a live flue. Skip the floor pair if the 3.7 and 3.9 star lines are a hard stop.

The Studio is a third shape

The Studio Light & Fire 1 is the shape this page is not centred on. It is a wall-mounted mantel, 134 cm wide, 58 cm high, 21 cm deep, and 24.5 kg. It is not a stove you stand on the hearth. If the wall cannot be identified, do not hang the Lausanne at 17 kg or the Studio at 24.5 kg, and do not treat the Lamington's 9.5 kg as light enough to guess. Buried cable, a fused spur, or a kitchen or bathroom is an electrician's job. The place comes first.

Common questions

I rent and cannot drill. Which of these five?
The two listings that say freestanding: the Bormio S and the taller Bormio. The Lamington, the Lausanne, and the Studio are wall mounts. Do not hang a Bormio because another shop page shows a hanging version. You still need about 49 cm of width, a visible socket, and about one metre of clearance. The star lines are 3.7 and 3.9.
Will the stove heat more than the wall fire?
Not on the evidence in this set. The stated outputs sit together: 1900 W on the Bormios, 2000 W on the Lamington, and 1000 W or 2000 W on the Lausanne. Choose the stove because it stands on the floor, not because you expect a larger room from the same sort of element.
Is the Studio a stove?
No. The Studio Light & Fire 1 is a mantel suite for the wall, 134 cm wide and 24.5 kg. It is engineered wood, not the metal stove body of the Bormios. The suite is the third shape, for a wall that can take that width and that weight.
Can I put the Bormio in an old opening?
These two listings are freestanding stoves, not flue inserts. The tall one is 49 cm wide and 79 cm high, at 35.5 cm deep. The short one's item line is about 49 cm wide and 64 cm high, with a conflicting second size line, so measure the carton. Standing one in front of a disused opening can work if the body fits and you keep the clearance.
Do I need a flue?
No. Both the wall fires and the freestanding stoves in this set are plug-in electric heaters with an LED flame. You still need a proper plug, a socket you can see, and about one metre from curtains and furniture.
What if I am not sure the wall will hold it?
Do not hang it. Seventeen kilograms for the Lausanne and 24.5 kg for the Studio are too much to guess, and 9.5 kg for the Lamington is still a fixing. If you cannot drill and you cannot identify the wall, the freestanding Bormios are the listings that match the constraint.
