Klarstein electric fireplace: what to decide first

Updated: 22 October 2026

You are looking at a Klarstein electric fireplace on amazon.co.uk and the photos all show a flame. The five listings in this set are not the same object. One is a narrow vertical glass fire, one is a wide horizontal wall fire, two are freestanding stoves of different heights, and one is a mantel suite more than a metre wide. Decide where it has to go, then whether the carton has a proper UK plug, then whether 1900 W or 2000 W is only a top-up. Shelf prices and widths are on the [Klarstein electric fireplace comparison](/hub/fireplaces-and-stoves/klarstein-electric-fireplace). Where it has to go

Measure the wall or the floor before you compare flames. The Lamington (B09RPZD4N4) is a vertical wall fire, 40 cm wide, 87 cm high, and 14 cm deep, at 9.5 kg and £270.79. The Lausanne (B00H58MNGO) is the horizontal one, 88 cm wide, 56 cm high, and 14 cm deep, at 17 kg and £267.39, and the listing allows wall or built-in fitting. An 88 cm glass panel will not pass for a 40 cm chimney breast, and a Lamington buyer already found the fire narrower than the photo because they had not measured. If you are still choosing between glass on the wall and a stove on the hearth, the wall or freestanding page stays on that one split.

Floor stoves and the mantel

The floor pair is the Bormio family, and the two amazon.co.uk files are different products that share a best-sellers line. The Bormio S (B07YZJSC4F) is the shorter stove, about 49 cm wide, with an item line of 33 × 49 × 64 cm and 18 kg, at £204.09. A second size line conflicts with the taller stove, so remeasure the carton. The taller Bormio (B07JVGYXK8), model 10032590, is 35.5 × 49 × 79 cm and 22 kg, at £400. Both listings say freestanding. The Studio Light & Fire 1 (B09NYLWL3P) is a wall-mounted mantel, 134 cm wide and 24.5 kg, at £566. A wall you cannot identify should not take 17 kg or 24.5 kg.

The plug before the flame

UK mains are 230 V, and a domestic heater needs a BS 1363 plug or a non-UK plug enclosed in a compatible conversion plug with a BS 1362 fuse. That duty sits in regulation 35 of the Electrical Equipment (Safety) Regulations 2016, for England, Wales, and Scotland, and in the Plugs and Sockets etc. (Safety) Regulations 1994. A loose travel adaptor is not that arrangement. The Lausanne file says a licensed EU-to-UK converter is attached before shipping. That is not a factory BS 1363 line. The other four listings do not state BS 1363. Check the pin before you drill. The arrival check sits on the UK plug page.

Watts as a top-up

Klarstein's heater guide calls an electric fireplace zone heating, not heat for the whole house. Stated outputs are 1900 W on both Bormios and 2000 W on the Lamington, the Lausanne (which also offers 1000 W), and the Studio. The brand page for Bormio model 10032590 states 950 W or 1900 W and limits that model to well-insulated rooms or occasional use. The amazon file prints 1900 W. Ignore the coverage fields. They are not a measured heat test. Ofgem's Direct Debit average for 1 October to 31 December 2026 is 26.32 pence per kWh in England, Scotland, and Wales, about 53 pence an hour at 2 kW. Northern Ireland follows that household's tariff. The flame can run with the heater off on the Lamington, the Lausanne, and both Bormios. On the Studio, one UK review wanted clearer steps for turning the heat off completely.

Common questions

Should I buy the wall fire or the stove first?
Buy the one that fits the place you have already measured. The Lamington needs about 40 cm of width and 87 cm of height. The Lausanne needs about 88 cm. The Bormios stand on the floor. If you cannot drill, start with the floor listings and still check the plug.
Why do the coverage figures disagree?
Because the five files print four different coverage lines: 32 square feet, 5 square metres, 200 square feet, and 430.56 square feet. Treat every coverage cell as empty for buying purposes and judge the fire by width, weight, plug, and the wattage as a top-up.
Is the Lamington the same width as the Lausanne?
No. The Lamington item line is 40 cm wide and 87 cm high. The Lausanne item line is 88 cm wide and 56 cm high. Both are about 14 cm deep. The prices are close. The measured opening is what matters.
Is the Bormio S the same stove as the Bormio?
No. The Bormio S is the shorter stove, about 64 cm high and 18 kg, at £204.09, with 3.7 from 189 reviews. The other Bormio is model 10032590, 79 cm high and 22 kg, at £400, with 3.9 from 524 reviews. Both state 1900 W. The Bormio S size lines also conflict, so measure the carton.
Does every Klarstein carton have a British plug?
Do not assume that. The Lausanne listing states an EU-to-UK converter fitted before dispatch. The Bormio files rely on UK reviews that mention a non-British plug. The Lamington and Studio files do not state BS 1363. Look at the plug before you mount the fire.
Is Wi-Fi on the Studio listing in this set?
Yes, on this amazon.co.uk file. Special features list an LED flame, Wi-Fi control, and a crackle effect, and the bullets mention the Klarstein app. Only three UK reviews are in the file. Confirm Wi-Fi is still on the listing in front of you before you pay £566 for that feature.
