Best Ring doorbell

Updated: 23 October 2026

The search treats the best Ring doorbell as if one model fitted every door. The 12 listings in our [Ring doorbell comparison](/hub/electronic-surveillance/ring-doorbell) run from about £29.99 to about £89.98, and none of the saved listings prints a star line. Three Retinal 2K Plus files share reviewer names. This page gives a fit and a skip. It does not crown a winner. We wrote it on 21 October 2026 from the listings and Ring’s UK pages. No single winner

The wired Retinal 2K at about £29.99 (B0FJJM9R3Z) needs compatible bell wiring. The battery Retinal 2K at about £39.99 (B0FHJ91JY5) needs no wires and comes off the wall to charge. The 1536p Plus at about £49.99 is not the Retinal 2K Plus at about £69.99 (B0F6436L5P). A 4K Pro is not in this set. For the order of choices, use the buying guide.

If you have no bell wires

For a flat, a new uPVC frame, or a rental, the fit is the battery Retinal 2K at about £39.99. Fifty UK reviews talk about daylight and night picture, fast notifications, and clear sound. The pack is built in, so the whole doorbell comes indoors on USB-C, and there is no chime. Pay for the about £69.99 Retinal 2K Plus when a spare must charge while the doorbell stays up. Those 50 comments overlap the chime and indoor-camera bundles, and the new holes do not match the old bracket. Skip the about £49.99 1536p Plus if you thought Plus meant 2K. Power detail is on the battery or wired page.

If the door is already wired

If a low-voltage transformer already feeds the old push and sits in range, the wired Retinal 2K at about £29.99 matches. Reviewers often describe a taller picture and no battery to change. The new bracket needs at least one new hole, and colour night mode is not in the bullets. B0GP7BKQDW is the same wired 2K at about £39.99 with Ring’s plug-in adaptor, and one UK review. The wired doorbell plus Chime (3rd Gen) is also about £39.99 (B0GP8CKTBJ). This wired 2K does not support a mechanical chime. The about £29.99 row is the wrong answer for a door with no wires.

If you want a chime or a second camera

A chime bundle is the same doorbell plus a plug-in speaker. The 2K Plus and chime is about £79.99 (B0GP8Y5H6J). The 1536p Plus and chime is about £59.99 (B0FQCF3L3D), with reviews that include Wi-Fi failing after about six months. Indoor cameras sit with the base doorbell at about £59.98 (B0GTZNKPBN, 29 reviews) and in B0GTZSTQQM. The 2K Plus plus indoor camera is about £89.98 (B0GP85518D). The yard option is B0GPYB7T5R at about £59.99, with a 1080p Stick Up Cam. A second device changes the plan, on the subscription page. Skip a bundle if you only needed the doorbell.

Common questions

Which listing if I cannot drill a new frame?
Use a battery doorbell, and still expect screws unless you already own a separate mount. In this set that is the about £39.99 Retinal 2K, or a Plus if you want a removable pack. The new bracket holes do not line up with an older Ring.
Which listing if I already have bell wires?
The wired Retinal 2K at about £29.99, if the transformer is low voltage and in the range Ring publishes, and if you accept that the old mechanical chime is bypassed. If you would rather power it from a socket, the about £39.99 box with the plug-in adaptor is the match, with one review. Most Plus bullets do not state hardwire charging.
When is Plus worth it inside this set?
Plus is worth it when the pack must come off and the doorbell must stay up. For Retinal 2K, that is about £69.99 without a chime, against about £39.99 for the built-in pack. The about £49.99 title is 1536p, not 2K. Do not add the review counts on the three 2K Plus files together. They share reviewer names.
When is the 1536p Plus the wrong buy?
It is the wrong buy when you read Plus and assumed Retinal 2K and 6x zoom. The about £49.99 doorbell and the about £59.99 chime bundle both say 1536p HD. They are a poor swap for the about £69.99 2K Plus if the video line was the reason you searched.
Is the chime bundle a different product?
The doorbell is the same class of product. The carton is different because a Chime (3rd Gen) is included. Wired plus chime is about £39.99, the same shelf price as wired plus plug-in adaptor, so those two boxes are not substitutes. The 2K Plus plus chime is about £79.99 against about £69.99 for the doorbell alone.
Which box adds a second camera?
Indoor and plug-in: B0GTZNKPBN and B0GTZSTQQM at about £59.98 with the built-in-battery doorbell, and B0GP85518D at about £89.98 with the 2K Plus. Yard or vehicles: B0GPYB7T5R at about £59.99 with a 1080p Stick Up Cam. The indoor camera is mains. It does not charge the doorbell, and it does not replace a chime.
Why is there no single best model here?
A best model needs a criterion, and this set has no shared star average. Price, wires, pack, and video line point at different ASINs. The about £29.99 wired doorbell ignores every home with no transformer. The 2K Plus ignores homes that do not need a removable pack. Fit the door you have.
