Right angle attachment for an impact driver

Updated: 2026-10-23

You already own an 18 V impact driver, and a right-angle head looks like the way into a carcass without buying a second drill. A right angle attachment for an impact driver is allowed only when that model says so. Some heads are built for the pulses. Some will strip, and the model numbers inside DeWalt and Milwaukee do not all follow one rule. This page sorts the twelve amazon.co.uk listings by that claim. Prices and ratings stay on the [right angle drill attachment comparison](/hub/drilling-and-accessories/right-angle-drill-attachment). Products Compared read listing bullets and maker pages, not a torque test, on 22 October 2026. A qualifying purchase can earn a commission at no extra cost to you.

What impact-rated is claiming

An impact driver adds rotational blows. A gearbox made for a drill-driver’s steady turn can lose teeth under those blows even when the screw feels small. Impact-rated, impact ready or engineered for impact drivers means the listing says the head is meant for that duty. Silence is a no. A red housing or a low price does not fill the gap. The failure looks like a click, then a head that spins without turning the bit. QOTSTEOS reviews include bearings falling out and a first-use break. A 200 Nm or 300 Nm cell on these listings is not the torque the head will survive. If the model number does not say impact, put the head in a drill-driver and use the clutch. Grip and bit length stay on the how to use page.

Heads in this set that say yes

The DT20500-QZ is £23.95 with 4.5 from 882 ratings. The bullets say impact-ready, and a UK dealer page agrees on 43 Nm and 38 mm. A DT20503 at 40 Nm on dewalt.co.uk is not this ASIN. The DWARA120 is £24.99 with 4.7 from 21,560 ratings, 1.5 inches front to back, and it does not inherit 43 Nm. The Milwaukee 4932471274 is £14.95 with 4.8 from 5,281 ratings: true 90 degrees, 36 mm, impact-rated for 18 V drivers, plus ten bits. The 200 Nm cell is not a stated capacity. Which head fits the gap is on the best attachments page.

Same badge, different rule

Milwaukee on a right-angle head is not one rule. The manual for 49-22-8510 says that attachment is for hand screwdrivers or cordless drills up to 18 V, and never for an impacting tool. That model is not an ASIN here. The number for impact use in this comparison is 4932471274. If the box says 49-22-8510, leave it on a drill. The DT20500 and the DWARA120 say impact-ready. The DWARAFS flexible shaft does not. One UK review limits that shaft to driving, not drilling. Read the model on the box, not the colour.

Heads that do not say yes

Keep the ColumPRO OB05-205 on a drill. It states 10 Nm and does not name an impact driver. The bit set’s impact line describes the bits, not the head. The DODUOS and HSEAMALL chucks state about 25 Nm and do not say impact. The Milescraft Drill90PLUS, not in this set, refuses impact drivers, and the Drive90PLUS is the sibling that claims it. QHSXMQ and FEITONGFX do not state an impact rating. QOTSTEOS copies the phrase, at 4.1 from 81 ratings, with a first-use break in the reviews. It is not a fourth yes. Square against offset is the 90 vs 105 page.

If it was advertised as impact-rated and it stripped

The Consumer Rights Act 2015 expects goods to match the description and to be of satisfactory quality. If the listing said the head was impact-rated and the gears stripped on an impact driver in ordinary use, raise that with the seller, with the ASIN and the bullet in front of you. It is not a repair guide. Stop when the head clicks, heats or wobbles. Do not open it. If the screw is structural, or it sits in an electrical, gas or brake assembly, the attachment was the wrong access. Nothing here is a measured torque ranking. Do not import a video test’s winner onto these ASINs.

Common questions

Which listings in this set actually say impact-rated?
Three. The DeWalt DT20500-QZ, the DeWalt DWARA120, and the Milwaukee 4932471274. Each says so in the bullets. The QOTSTEOS bullets use similar words, with a much weaker review file, so it is not in this yes list.
Is every DeWalt right-angle head impact-ready?
No. In this set the DT20500-QZ and the DWARA120 say impact-ready. The DWARAFS flexible shaft does not. A DT20503 at 40 Nm on dewalt.co.uk is a different product. Match the code on the box.
Is every Milwaukee right-angle head impact-ready?
No. The 4932471274 is stated as impact-rated. The different model 49-22-8510, which is not one of these ASINs, says never to use that attachment with an impacting tool. Read the number before a red head goes on the driver.
Can I use a 105-degree ColumPRO on an impact driver?
Not on the evidence here. The £6.99 OB05-205 names a drill and states 10 Nm. The bit-set listing talks about the bits, and describes the head for a drill or a hand wrench. Keep both on a drill-driver clutch.
What about the 8 mm chuck adapters?
Leave the DODUOS and the HSEAMALL on a drill. Their bullets state about 25 Nm and do not say impact-rated. The Milescraft Drill90PLUS is sold with an explicit refusal for impact drivers and hammer drills. A loose chuck is already in the DODUOS reviews.
Does PUWER change the answer on a domestic job?
No. The host-tool limit is about the gearbox, at home or at work. PUWER 1998 adds duties for employers. It does not make a silent listing impact-safe, and a domestic cupboard does not make an impact-rated claim unnecessary.
