Right angle drill attachment buying guide

Updated: 2026-10-23

You are under a sink or inside a carcass, and the drill body will not sit square to the screw. A search for the best right angle drill attachment then returns four tools under one title: a compact 90-degree hex head, a 105-degree offset, a keyless chuck, and a flexible or mixed kit. They do not fail in the same gap. This page sets the questions in order. The twelve amazon.co.uk listings, with prices in GBP, stay on the [right angle drill attachment comparison](/hub/drilling-and-accessories/right-angle-drill-attachment). Products Compared read those listings and public maker pages, not a lab, on 22 October 2026. A qualifying purchase can earn a commission at no extra cost to you.

Four attachments, one search

Start with the gap, not the star rating. A true 90-degree hex head keeps the bit square. Milwaukee states 36 mm. The DT20500 is stated at 38 mm, and the DWARA120 states 1.5 inches front to back. Those three take a 1/4 inch hex bit, not a round twist bit. A 105-degree holder tips the drill off a stile. In this set that is ColumPRO and Motrijuka, and it loses when the slot only fits a 36 mm head sitting square. That split is the 90 vs 105 degree heads page. A keyless chuck on an 8 mm shank is the DODUOS and HSEAMALL type, and the bullets do not call it impact-rated. The DWARAFS is a 12 inch shaft, and one UK review says driving, not drilling.

Match the tool you already own

An impact driver wants a 1/4 inch hex. A drill chuck can close on that hex or on an 8 mm shank. A round twist bit needs the keyless head. Milwaukee and both compact DeWalt heads are hex out. DODUOS and HSEAMALL are chuck out. In this set the bullets say impact-ready for the DWARA120, the DT20500-QZ and the Milwaukee 4932471274. They do not say it for the DWARAFS, the ColumPRO heads, the mixed kits or the chuck adapters. A UK page for the Milescraft Drill90PLUS, not in this set, refuses impact drivers and hammer drills. Which listings say yes is the impact-driver page. You still brace the housing. A magnet keeps the screw and does not stop the head spinning.

What the price bands are buying

About £5 to £10 on this snapshot buys a light offset or a mixed box: Motrijuka £4.99, QHSXMQ £6.80, ColumPRO £6.99 with a stated 10 Nm, and FEITONGFX £9.99 at 5.0 from three reviews. Reviews there include a part that is not a drill attachment. About £12 to £17 mixes unlike tools: Milwaukee at £14.95 with ten bits, QOTSTEOS at £12.99 with a first-use break in the reviews, and the chuck adapters around 25 Nm. About £24 to £40 is the DT20500-QZ, the DWARA120 and the DWARAFS. Do not paste a DT20503’s 40 Nm onto the DT20500-QZ.

Figures you should not trust

Treat 200 Nm, 300 Nm, a weight of 1 g, air powered and hand powered as empty when the bullets disagree. The Milwaukee bullets do not state a torque. The DWARA120’s 300 inch-pounds is not 300 Nm. Use 43 Nm and 38 mm on the DT20500, 25 Nm on the chuck adapters, and 10 Nm on the £6.99 ColumPRO. Prefer 4.7 from 21,560 ratings, or 4.8 from 5,281, over 5.0 from three. PUWER 1998 requires suitable equipment at work. That is not a sticker on the head.

When the attachment is the wrong tool

An attachment leaves the drill on the other end of the shaft. You have solved the angle, not every confined bay. If the whole tool still will not enter, a dedicated angle drill is the other purchase. An attachment is the occasional reach. Step a large hole up, and stop if the chuck loosens. Structural fixings, and electrical, gas or brake work, belong with someone who already does that job. These shelf prices are this set’s snapshot.

Common questions

Is a right-angle attachment the same as a right-angle drill?
No. An attachment turns the drill or driver you already own through about 90 or 105 degrees. A right-angle drill is a whole tool. Use the attachment when the host can stay outside the gap. Buy the dedicated drill when the body itself is the obstruction.
Do I need a 1/4 inch hex or a chuck?
Driver bits and the compact impact heads use 1/4 inch hex. Round twist bits need a keyless chuck, here the 8 mm shank adapters rated 0.8–10 mm. A drill chuck can hold either shank. An impact collet should not hold a head the listing never calls impact-rated.
How small a gap does 36 mm or 38 mm clear?
Those figures are head depth, not the length of your drill. Milwaukee states 36 mm. A UK dealer page states 38 mm for the DT20500. The DWARA120 states 1.5 inches front to back. If the space in front of the screw is tighter than that, none of those rigid heads will sit square.
Can I drill joists with a cheap adapter?
Treat that as a no for the chuck adapters in this set. The stated torques are 25 Nm, or 10 Nm on the ColumPRO offset. DODUOS reviews include a bit left in the wood and a first-hole failure. An attachment is for a screw or a light hole where the body will not fit.
What should I ignore on the amazon.co.uk specification table?
Ignore a torque, weight or power source that describes a drill. In this set that means 200 Nm or 300 Nm, a weight of 1 g, and air powered or hand powered. The DWARA120’s 300 inch-pounds cell is not 300 Nm. The DT20500’s 43 Nm is the case where the bullets and the table agree.
