Best SDS drill UK

Updated: 2026-10-23

A UK best SDS drill article often names a Makita, a DeWalt or a Bosch GBH that is not in this amazon.co.uk set. Those tools exist. They are not rows here. Best, on this page, means a job you can match to one of six drills from £47.17 to £84.99, with the review count beside the name. Products Compared did not lab-test them. Figures are the stored listings, not a fresh scrape after 22 October 2026. A qualifying purchase can earn a commission at no extra cost to you. All six are on the [hammer drill SDS plus comparison](/hub/drilling-and-accessories/hammer-drill-sds-plus).

Best for a light DIY hole near a socket

For a lintel hole beside a socket, the top pick is the Bosch PBH 2100 RE at £59.94: 2.2 kg, a case in the title, and 4.6 from 1,683 reviews. The Amazon row does not print joules. Bosch's UK page for 06033A9370 states 1.7 J and 20 mm in concrete, which is the maker's figure. Best value, when printed joules matter more than that sample, is the DongCheng DZC05-26B at £47.17: 2.8 J, 4.4 from 98 reviews, four SDS-Plus bits and no case. One review says the bits did not stay in. Blank cells are set out in the SDS drill buying guide.

Best when the listing states a concrete capacity

If the listing must name a hole in concrete, the Enventor Z1C-HW01-3288EP at £84.99 is the only row that does: 6 J and 32 mm in concrete, at 1,500 W and 230 V, with 4.4 from 173 reviews. Owners describe lintels and patio concrete that other hammer drills did not finish. The package includes a case, bits and chisels. Skip it if you cannot manage the 7.87 kg item weight, which may include the case, or if you need a safety clutch the listing does not name. Reviews mention a sticky trigger and a return because reverse would not engage. The 6 J claim is not labelled as EPTA Procedure 05.

Best if you cannot use a lead

The only drill here with a battery in the box is the Dong Cheng DCZC22 at £79.99: 20 V, brushless, one 4.0 Ah pack, a charger, a case and a stated 2.1 J, at 4.5 from 100 reviews. Several buyers are happy with the runtime. At least two returned it after a very short run. The listing promises neither. Skip it if you need a second battery. Packs are DongCheng 20 V Max only. The item weight is 5.14 kg and may include the case. A handful of plugs away from a socket is this row. A patio goes back to the corded Enventor.

What we will not call best

The Stanew ST-1027-N-UK at £54.99 is 4.6 from 32 reviews, and the only title that names a safety clutch. Voltage, joules and concrete capacity are blank, and complaints mention the case, a loose adaptor and the direction switch. A 4.6 on 32 reviews is not 4.6 on 1,683. The Draper Storm Force 76490 at £68.39 is 4.2 from 63 reviews. Joules and voltage are unstated, and the table prints 14 A, 4,100 rpm and a 10 × 10 × 10 mm size, which cannot be the drill. We will not rank a tool whose electrical cells disagree.

Common questions

Which of these is best for a one-off lintel hole?
For a light hole near a socket, the PBH 2100 RE at £59.94 has the deepest sample, 4.6 from 1,683 reviews, at 2.2 kg. Joules are not on the Amazon row. If you need the listing to state a concrete diameter, the Enventor at £84.99 claims 32 mm and 6 J, at 7.87 kg.
Which is best if I want the highest stated impact energy?
The Enventor is the only listing here that prints 6 J, beside 32 mm in concrete, at £84.99. The DongCheng corded prints 2.8 J and the cordless kit prints 2.1 J. The Bosch, Draper and Stanew print no joules on Amazon. Highest stated is not the same as measured to EPTA Procedure 05, because the Enventor line does not say that. Skip 6 J if you cannot hold the weight.
Which is the only one with a battery included?
The Dong Cheng DCZC22 at £79.99. The bullets list one 4.0 Ah 20 V battery, a charger, four SDS-Plus bits and a case, and they state 2.1 J. The other five are corded and do not include a battery. Runtime in the reviews is mixed, so a single pack is a short-job kit unless you already accept that some buyers returned it.
Does the highest star rating win?
No. The Stanew and the Bosch are both 4.6. The Stanew has 32 reviews and the Bosch has 1,683. The cordless kit is 4.5 from 100, the DongCheng corded and the Enventor are 4.4, and the Draper is 4.2 from 63. Stars are a satisfaction count on that listing. They are not a vibration test and not a certificate that every unit is fault-free.
Is the Bosch underpowered because it is 550 W?
Watts are the electrical input. The PBH listing says 550 W and does not print joules. Reviewers still describe it going through lintels and engineering brick that a combi drill did not. Bosch's own UK page states 1.7 J for this model, which is a light hammer on the guide bands, and that figure is not the Amazon cell. A 1,500 W name is not automatically more hammer unless joules are stated as well.
