Best security door handle: a job, not a shared price

Updated: October 2026

The two Yale sets share a comparison price of about £30.43, so a discount cannot pick the best security door handle. The split is the door you already have. The Yale MK3 is the top pick when the holes are already 92 mm and 215 mm and the cylinder sits almost flush. The adjustable Yale is the best value when that screw pitch is awkward. The UAP Signature is about £25.99 and stays off the lead: three reviews, and a listing that disagrees with itself, are not a reason to trust the holes. Prices are on the [security door handle comparison](/hub/door-and-window-security/security-door-handle). Peter F. checked those amazon.co.uk listings in October 2026. There is no lab test. Top pick when the holes are 215 mm

The top pick is the Yale MK3 chrome set, model P-YSHMK3LL-PC. It scores 84. The listing is 4.4 out of 5 from 111 amazon.co.uk reviews, with a 92 mm centre, 215 mm fixing holes and a built-in cylinder guard. Yale's own page for this chrome handle states those two dimensions, the guard, more than 200,000 cycles and a two-year guarantee. Reviewers who already had that hole pattern describe a heavy chrome swap in about 10 minutes. The listing names spring cassettes, screws and a spindle. It does not name a cylinder. Skip it when the cylinder sticks out. One fitter says the lock cannot protrude even by 5 mm, another ground the opening, and a third called the guard more trouble than a snap-resistant cylinder. Screws that do not meet, squeaky springs and metal shavings recur. One lever snapped after a few weeks. The listing says high security and does not print a TS007 star. If the holes are not 215 mm, this fixed pattern is the wrong set. Yale's Platinum, Kitemark KM 532920, is a different chrome handle, the one the maker calls TS007 2-star. It is not this ASIN.

Best value when the holes are not standard

The best value is the Yale adjustable chrome set, P-PVC-RH-PC, at a score of 80. It is 4.4 out of 5 from 265 reviews, the largest review count in this set, at the same price of about £30.43. Yale labels it standard security. The PZ stays 92 mm and the screws slide. One door in the reviews sat at 204 mm, a pitch a fixed 215 mm MK3 would miss. A Pozidriv fit is described as about 10 to 20 minutes once Yale's video has been watched. That time is a review report for a straightforward swap, not a promise for a door whose holes still need finding. It is not universal. An old Wickes pattern did not fit, a door over 70 mm was rejected, and more than one buyer sent the set back because the backplate was too big. The listing says plastic, stainless steel and PVC in different fields, and the indoor/outdoor line says indoor while the title says uPVC doors. No TS007 star is printed. Sliding screws still need a 92 mm lock, so measure before you treat adjustable as a substitute for the old holes. That measuring is the security door handle buying guide.

Why the lower price stays off the lead

The UAP Signature silver anodised handle is the lowest price at about £25.99 and the lowest score at 58. It has no award. Only three amazon.co.uk reviews sit behind a 3.2 score. Two of them describe a heavy, smooth external handle and name the anti-drill and anti-snap lines as the reason for buying. The third says there is no adjustment for the euro cylinder, unlike other 2-star handles, and a shorter lock had to be bought. One of the positive reviews describes a gold finish, which does not match the silver anodised colour field. The title says a 219 mm backplate, 92 mm PZ and 122 mm screw centres. The bullets also mix in 243 mm and 210 mm. The box contents are not itemised, and nothing on the listing prints a TS007 star, a Kitemark or a fire rating. A lower price is not evidence that this set outperforms either Yale. If you can confirm 122 mm on the door, compare it in the main table. It does not lead.

What none of them print

None of the three listings print a TS007 star. A shop that calls every security handle 2-star is not evidence about these ASINs. PAS 24 tests a complete doorset. Yale's MK3 page does not say PAS 24, so a retailer title that adds it is not adopted here. The star total is a Kitemarked 3-star cylinder, or a Kitemarked 1-star cylinder plus Kitemarked 2-star furniture. Why those stars are not added to five is on 2 star door handle or 3 star cylinder. The condition stays simple: 215 mm and a flush cylinder point to the MK3; an odd pitch on a 92 mm lock points to the adjustable Yale; three reviews and a contradictory listing do not lead.

Common questions

Which handle is the top pick?
The Yale MK3, B00L24QNGS, is the top pick when the door is already 92 mm and 215 mm and the cylinder barely sticks out. It is 4.4 from 111 reviews, with a cylinder guard, and it scores 84. Skip it if the barrel stands proud or the screw holes are a different pitch. The score is for that job. It is not a claim that the listing carries a TS007 star.
Is the cheaper UAP a better buy?
In this comparison it is cheaper, at about £25.99 against about £30.43, and that is not enough. It has 3.2 from three reviews, and the title's 219 mm and 122 mm disagree with bullets that also say 243 mm and 210 mm. Two reviews like the weight. One says a shorter lock had to be bought. Check the holes in person if you still want it. It does not lead this set.
When is the adjustable Yale the one to get?
Get B004J341IQ when the lock is 92 mm and the old screw pitch is not a clean 215 mm. One review used it at 204 mm. It is 4.4 from 265 reviews at the same comparison price as the MK3, which is why it is the best value for that awkward pitch. It is standard security, not the guarded high-security wording of the MK3. A door over 70 mm and an old Wickes pattern were returns.
Are the Yale prices really the same?
They were the same in this comparison, both about £30.43. They are not a promise of today's checkout. On 19 October 2026 a public view of the MK3 ASIN showed about £39.99 new. Yale's own shop had the MK3 chrome at about £31.99 in a promotion from about £40. Compare the live amazon.co.uk prices on the main table before you treat the pair as a tie on the day you buy.
Does the top pick include a TS007 mark?
No. The MK3 listing and Yale's MK3 page do not print a TS007 star or a Kitemark number. They do state a cylinder guard, 92 mm, 215 mm and a cycle figure. The Yale product that states TS007 2-star is the Platinum, KM 532920, which is not in this comparison. Do not read the MK3's high-security sentence as that mark.
Who should skip the MK3?
Skip it if the cylinder protrudes, if the lock is not 92 mm, or if the fixing holes are not 215 mm. Reviewers report screws that do not meet, squeaky springs, metal shavings and one lever that snapped after a few weeks. Also skip it if you need a printed 2-star Kitemark on the handle you are buying. The adjustable set is the alternative for odd holes, not a cure for a proud cylinder.
