Best edge band trimmer

Updated: 23 October 2026

You want one listing to open for ordinary iron-on cabinet tape, and a second if the job is only a few shelves. Best here means the cut matches that job and the amazon.co.uk file is large enough to read, not a lab prize. The captured prices are on the [edge band trimmer comparison](/hub/diy-supplies/edge-band-trimmer). Peter F. used those saved listings. No tool in the set was bench-tested. Best for thin tape you will do more than once

Open the Virutex AU93, B005HPWLUA, model PERFILADOR AU93, when you will band more than one cupboard. The captured line is £29.23, 4.4 from 830 ratings. The bullets say both overhangs up to 40 mm, then the body splits. That 40 mm is the board edge, not a tape thickness. The caps are on the edge band trimmer buying guide. On MFC, too little pressure left about 1 mm proud and too much cut both faces. Blades blunt quickly, then rip the band. A heavier Virutex for 2–3 mm ABS is a different tool. Ignore the Pink, Wood and USB fields. The title is a turquoise manual tool.

Best value when the job is a few shelves

If the job is one cupboard, the Feabolee, B0DMN651YH, is the best value at £3.89, with 4.4 from 49 ratings. It is a 45.4 g V-notch with a claimed 420 stainless blade. Thirteen UK reviews used it on cupboard strips and, once the push was learned, on worktop edging. One UK review says the blade was blunt after about 2 metres, and no spare was in the box. One unit would not cut. The 12 mm field is a cutting width, not a tape thickness. On 21 October 2026 the live search showed 4.2 from 118 and £4.99. This page keeps the captured £3.89.

Leave the 5.0 scores alone

Three listings show 5.0 and will outrank both picks if you sort by stars. The Kaaeiccr is £5.59 with 5.0 from one UK review of a V notch at 90 degrees. The review mentions £4.39 against the captured £5.59. One note is a method, not 830 ratings. The Kynigo is £5.49 with 5.0 from one review marked United States. The Yosoo is £17.99 with 5.0 from three, and a UK review calls it a generic veneer plane. The JINGXI, the Sotbnna pair and the Xelsluthe have no star line. A spare in the carton does not create a review.

The arc trimmer is not this winner

The Saker, B0B586QG5J, is £16.99 with 3.9 from 304 ratings, and it is the wrong first cut. UK reviews say it chamfers a door or worktop arris and rips the band. Several boxes arrived short of the three blades in the title. Use it only after the tape is flush. If the roll is about 2 mm, neither pick is the right tool. A knife you already own is edge banding trimmer or knife.

Common questions

Which one do I buy for ordinary iron-on cabinet tape?
Buy the AU93 if you will do the job more than once and the boards are inside the 40 mm bullet. Buy the Feabolee if the run is a few shelves and you will sand. Both are flush tools in the UK notes. Neither listing states a tape thickness, so the roll still has to be the thin iron-on sort, not a 2 mm lipping. The end tag is a separate cut either way.
Is the cheapest 4.4-star tool good enough for a few cupboards?
The captured Feabolee line is 4.4 from 49 at £3.89, and UK notes say it did cupboard strips once the pressure was learned. It is good enough for that short job if you accept a blade that one reviewer found blunt after about 2 metres, and a unit in the file that would not cut. It is not the tool to start a run of doors you cannot afford to rip. Check the live price, because the 21 October search did not match £3.89.
Why not the 5.0-star listings?
The Kaaeiccr and the Kynigo are 5.0 from one rating each, and the Kynigo review is marked United States. The Yosoo is 5.0 from three. A single UK method note on the Kaaeiccr is worth reading. It does not outweigh 49 or 830 ratings on tools that UK buyers have already argued with. No star line, on the cheaper unreviewed rows, is even less evidence.
Is the Saker the best flush cutter because it has 304 reviews?
No. The 304 ratings are real, and the UK texts describe a chamfer and a poor flush cut. Reviewers who wanted the overhang off went back to a chisel or a utility knife, or said they still needed a flush trimmer first. Use the count to judge the chamfer tool, not to promote it into the first pass.
Will the AU93 do wood veneer?
Some UK reviews report a clean cut on oak veneer. One reports tear-out on birch veneer on birch ply. A DIYnot contributor has said this kind of trimmer is not guaranteed on wood veneer. Try an offcut, with the grain, one face at a time if you are nervous of a double-sided cut. If the offcut tears, stop. Melamine and iron-on tape are the stronger case in the notes.
Who should skip both picks?
Skip both if the roll is about 2 mm, if you need a radius that matches a kitchen-door spec, or if show veneer has already torn. Skip the AU93 if you will band one short cupboard and you would rather sand than spend £29.23. Skip the Feabolee if you need a spare blade in the box or a long run before the edge dulls. Skip the Saker as a substitute for either of them.
