Best heavy duty polythene sheet

Updated: 23 October 2026

You are comparing five clear sheets on amazon.co.uk because the title says heavy duty. The best heavy duty polythene sheet in a wider UK search is often a black 1200-gauge roll that prints 300 micrometres. One example outside this set is a ToughSheet 4 m by 25 m listing. That roll is not one of the five boxes in our [construction film comparison](/hub/diy-supplies/construction-film). This page ranks only those five, by the thickness they state and by the job you actually have. Prices are amazon.co.uk shelf figures in GBP. Peter F. read the listings. We did not measure a film in a lab, and a qualifying purchase can earn a commission at no extra cost to you.

What best means here

A pick inside this set is the least wrong box for a named job. It is a decorating cover or a small clear sheet, and it stops being a sensible buy once the job is a certified floor membrane. We judged each listing by whether it prints a thickness, by the area you can cover, and by what United Kingdom reviews say about tearing. Review text from outside the UK stays out of the ranking. The builders' polythene sheeting page holds the gauge table. Twelve hundred gauge is 300 micrometres. None of these five listings cites EN 13967 or a BBA certificate number.

Painting and a light cover

For painting furniture, or a short splash cover on a floor you will not walk, the ZHXGO pack is the best value in this set, at £7.85. You get six sheets of 4 m by 5 m and three rolls of tape. The listing states no thickness. One verified UK review says the film shredded underfoot and paint reached the carpet. Tape does not make a surface you can cross all afternoon. A poly-backed cotton dust sheet, which trade guides put around £12 to £17, is the cover when you need to stand on the floor. If the room is a staircase, skip the film. The plastic dust sheets for painting page sets out that split.

A stated 0.3 mm sheet

Zhiyu666 is the top pick inside this set when you want a listing that states a thickness. It is £8.99 for a 2 m by 3 m sheet, 6 m², and the bullets say 0.3 mm. United Kingdom reviews say the film did not feel extra thick, and there is no tape in the box. One review describes a trailer cover that tore when the film was pulled tight. Six square metres is a patch, so a whole-room cover is the job to skip. That 0.3 mm figure is the Approved Document C example for polyethylene under a ground-supported floor in England. There is no EN 13967 line and no BBA number. Believe the film in your hands if it feels thinner than a 1200-gauge roll.

Larger sheets and the eyeleted cover

SuQurtom at £13.99 is 12 m² and states no thickness. One UK review says a greenhouse roof made from it failed after about four months. Skdqiee at £13.21 is about 30 m², with no reviews in the capture, no stated thickness, and a colour line that conflicts with itself. VOGANLL at £17.24 states 0.12 mm, which is 120 micrometres, and adds eyelets. The title says PVC and the material line says polyethylene. On a 0.12 mm film the eyelets give a gust a place to start a tear. Only VOGANLL among those three prints a thickness, and it sits well below 300 micrometres.

Which box for which job

Take ZHXGO at £7.85 when you are covering furniture, or a floor you will not walk, and you want tape in the same order. Take Zhiyu666 at £8.99 when you want a printed 0.3 mm on a 6 m² clear sheet and you will check the film in your hands. Leave SuQurtom for a season-long greenhouse skin, leave a tied sheet if you would haul it tight, and leave all five when the sheet has to be a certified floor membrane.

Common questions

Which one states a thickness?
Zhiyu666 states 0.3 mm. VOGANLL states 0.12 mm. ZHXGO, SuQurtom, and Skdqiee state none. A missing figure means the thickness is unknown, and heavy duty will not fill it. Only the two printed figures can be ranked, and UK reviews say the Zhiyu666 film did not feel extra thick.
Is the eyeleted sheet the strongest because it has 303 reviews?
VOGANLL has 303 reviews and a 3.7 average, at 0.12 mm and £17.24. Most of those reviews are not identified as UK buyers in the notes we used, so the count is a weak guide to what arrives in Britain. Rank the stated thickness and the job, not the size of the review total. Eyelets concentrate the pull, and a thin film tears at a hole.
Is £8.99 enough for a damp-proof membrane?
£8.99 buys the Zhiyu666 sheet, which prints 0.3 mm on 6 m² and nothing else a membrane needs. A damp-proof membrane you can point to is a declared product, often to BS EN 13967, sometimes with a BBA certificate, laid with sealed joints. The ToughSheet 4 m by 25 m example was about £47.39, rated 4.6 from 28 reviews, and sits outside this comparison.
What do I skip if I need a greenhouse skin for a season?
Skip SuQurtom if the sheet has to last a season as a greenhouse roof. It is £13.99 for 12 m², with no thickness, and one UK review says a roof made from it failed after about four months. The other four are not horticultural films either. For a season under sun and wind, buy a sheet sold for that use and read its own thickness.
Why is there no star rating on the Skdqiee sheet?
The capture for Skdqiee had no reviews, so there is no average to show. That is different from a low score. You also get no thickness and a colour line that conflicts with itself, at £13.21 for about 30 m². Area is what you are paying for. If you want other buyers' comments, choose a listing in this set that already has UK reviews.
