Dyson fan buying guide

Updated: 21 October 2026

You are looking at five Dyson machines on amazon.co.uk and the names all sound like the same tower. This Dyson fan buying guide is the order of decisions: breeze, particles, heat, or a fan you can hold. The [Dyson fan comparison](/hub/cooling/dyson-fan) is the table of those five listings. Peter F. read the UK listings and public Dyson pages. There was no laboratory test. A qualifying purchase can earn a commission at no extra cost to you. Start with the job, then read the cell that belongs to that job. None of these machines is an air conditioner.

Start with the job

Four jobs sit in this set, and they are not a ladder of stars. A desk or a walk is the HushJet Mini, about £99 and 210 g. Heat without a filter is the AM09, about £399.99, with 2,000 W, 230 V and 12.5 A on the table. Particles and a breeze is the PC1 at about £449, with no heater in the bullets. Particles and heat is the HP1, also about £449. The HP00, at about £379, does not claim an app. That shortlist is not a ranking. The AM09 is the top pick because 230 V and 2,000 W are printed and 4.1 from 205 is the largest UK file. The HushJet is best value as the only machine under £100. The HP1’s 4.4 from 84 does not take the top pick while the heater wattage is missing.

Watts are two different numbers

A 40 W cell and a 2,000 W cell are not the same kind of number. On the AM09, amazon.co.uk prints 2,000 W next to 230 V and 12.5 A. That is the heat figure. Dyson’s ecodesign sheet lists fan power at 26.6 W and fan flow at 11.1 cubic metres per minute. Those rows move air. They do not replace the heat cell. On the HP1 the wattage cell prints 40 W while the bullets say it heats. Dyson’s 2,050 W footnote is a comparison on dyson.co.uk, not the amazon cell. Do not treat 40 W as the heater. The PC1’s 40 W sits on a purifier with no heat claim. The HushJet prints 240 V on a 210 g cordless listing. That cell is not a BS 1363 plug.

Filter, app, and the clashes

Filter 965432-01 is listed at £75 on a 12-month interval, and Dyson names the HP1 and the PC1. It does not name the AM09, whose included-components line is a cord. Follow that interval on an HP1 or PC1 and the first year is the shelf price plus about £75, unless the machine alerts you sooner. The HP00 is not on that compatible list. The HP1 and the PC1 claim MyDyson. One HP1 review says that delivery had no Wi-Fi. The HP00 does not claim an app. The AM09 box line does not list a remote, even though Dyson’s AM09 page describes a magnetic one. Confirm the carton before you rely on a phone. The HushJet has no filter and no app, and its 150 cubic metres per minute cell does not match a 210 g fan.

What to do with the shortlist

Keep the AM09 for occasional heat when 2,000 W and 230 V are on the listing and you do not need HEPA. Keep the HP1 for filtration and heat only after you check that Wi-Fi is in the box. Keep the PC1 for particles and a breeze, knowing that cooling in the title is not refrigeration. Keep the HP00 only if blank wattage cells are acceptable at about £379. Keep the HushJet if you want a Dyson you can hold. Leave the set if the room must be colder. Who should skip each row is the best Dyson fan page.

Common questions

Which Dyson fan should I buy if I only want a breeze?
If the breeze is for you, at a desk or around your neck, the HushJet Mini at about £99 is the machine in this set. If the breeze is for a room, look at the PC1, which claims a purifier and does not claim a heater, or at a non-Dyson tower if you do not want a filter. Do not size a bedroom from the HushJet’s 150 cubic metres per minute cell.
Is 40 W the heater on the HP1?
No. The amazon.co.uk wattage cell prints 40 W, and the bullets also say the HP1 heats a room. The listing does not print a separate heater wattage. Dyson’s 2,050 W figure is a comparison footnote on dyson.co.uk, not the cell on this ASIN. Treat 40 W as an unresolved clash until the rating plate and the manual agree.
Does the £379 Hot+Cool have the app?
The HP00 listing does not claim MyDyson. The control row says remote and touch, and reviews say there is no Wi-Fi. The HP1 and the PC1 are the two machines in this set whose bullets claim the app. One HP1 buyer still reported no Wi-Fi on the unit that arrived, so the claim is not the same as a confirmed handset in the box.
What does the filter cost in year one?
Dyson lists filter 965432-01 at £75, with a 12-month line, for the HP1 and the PC1. Add that to about £449 if you intend to follow the interval. The AM09 has no filter on this listing, so there is nothing on that parts page to buy for it. The HP00 is not named on that compatible list.
Why does the AM09 table say 2 speeds?
The attribute table prints 2 speeds, and it also prints wall mount and radiant heat. The bullets describe PTC plates and Jet Focus, and a review cites setting 10. Those lines disagree. The heat cell that does agree with itself is 2,000 W at 230 V and 12.5 A. Use that for the heater job, and check the speed control on the unit you receive.
