Bladeless fan for the bedroom

Updated: 21 October 2026

You are trying to sleep in a hot UK bedroom, and a 20 dB title is doing too much work. A bladeless fan for the bedroom has to be tolerable on its lowest speeds, the display has to go dark, and a timer has to end the run. The room also has to be under 35°C, because a fan is not the fix above that. This page stays on night use. The [Bladeless fan comparison](/hub/cooling/bladeless-fan) holds the full table. Peter F. checked the listings on 19 October 2026. There was no lab test. A qualifying purchase can earn a commission at no extra cost to you.

What quiet enough to sleep means

A printed decibel figure is the speed the seller chose to quote. Titles here run from 20 dB to a Princess attribute of 52.6 dB, and they were not measured by one method. DREO and Levoit reviewers say speeds 1 and 2 are the ones people sleep with. On the black DR-HTF007, reviews describe it as loud from about speed 5. If you need that step to feel anything, the tower is the wrong size, or the intake is blocked. A Levoit reviewer on the LTF-F422-WEU says speed 1 is still audible against a background near 25.3 dB. Quiet, not silent. Do not paste a Dyson Cool CF1 figure of 29 dB, or Good Housekeeping’s readings on a different DREO, onto these ASINs. Those machines are not this set.

Lights, timer and the overnight limit

A bedroom fan fails if the LEDs stay on. UK reviews in the black DREO file say the lights can be turned off, and the bullets claim display auto-off in sleep mode. The evidence has to come from that ASIN, not from a neighbour’s page. Set the timer for a stretch you can judge, not for an open-ended night. Electrical Safety First says do not leave an electric fan running overnight, and keep working smoke alarms. A timer stops an endless run. It does not license you to sleep through with the fan still in circuit. Quiet Mark, UKCA, CE and ETL do not rewrite that sentence. The Russell Hobbs bullets claim Quiet Mark beside a 45 dB attribute and reviews that complain about beeps. Placement and cleaning are on how to use a bladeless fan.

Kept fans that fit a bedroom, and the ones that do not

The closest night match is the black DREO DR-HTF007 at £79.99, the best value: 240 V on the title and the attribute, 36 W, a remote, an 8-hour timer and 90° oscillation. The title says 20 dB and the spec says 25 dB. The bullets say 8 speeds and the spec says 4. The model field still says White. Skip the white B0BT7LPSBY: the same 4.6 from 47,486 reviews, and a voltage cell of 120.0. The DR-HTF017 at £74.99 is the top pick, with 240 V, four speeds and a 1–8 hour timer. The Levoit at £89.99 needs a plate check because the voltage field says 24.0. Voltage detail is on the bladeless fan buying guide.

If the room is already very hot

Below 35°C the fan can take the edge off, aimed across the room, with fluids and with the blinds shut on the sunny side. At or above 35°C, NHS and GOV.UK do not present the fan as the fix. A higher speed aimed at the pillow is the failure mode. Heat exhaustion that does not settle, or heatstroke, is NHS 111 or 999. A chronically hot rented home can go to the council’s environmental health office.

Common questions

What should a bedroom fan do on the lowest speeds?
It should be tolerable for sleep on speeds 1 and 2, with a timer and a display you can darken. DREO and Levoit reviews in these files describe those low steps as the sleepable ones, and they describe the higher steps as loud. A 20 dB title is that low-speed claim. It is not a promise about speed 5.
Which kept tower is the least bad night match, and who should skip the white DREO?
The black DREO DR-HTF007 at £79.99, with a 240 V attribute, a remote and an 8-hour timer. UK reviews say the LEDs can go off and that speeds 1 and 2 are the quiet ones. Check the plate, because the model field says White. Skip the white listing, B0BT7LPSBY, on the attribute table: it says 120.0, and it shares the 47,486 reviews rather than adding a second set.
How do you deal with LED panels and beeps?
Choose a listing where reviews say the lights turn off, as they do for the black DREO, or where sleep mode claims display auto-off. The Russell Hobbs reviews complain about beeps and an ambient light that changes on its own, next to a 45 dB attribute. That is a poor bedside companion even though the bullets claim Quiet Mark. Quiet Mark is a noise programme, not a dark room.
Is it safe to run it until morning?
Electrical Safety First says not to leave an electric fan on overnight. Use the timer so the run is limited, keep smoke alarms working, and do not treat CE, UKCA, ETL or Quiet Mark as permission. A timer is the feature to use. It is not a waiver. Unplug the fan when you are leaving it unattended.
What changes if the bedroom is already at or above 35°C?
NHS and GOV.UK do not treat the fan as the answer at that point. Do not aim it at the body to push through. Check on anyone at higher risk, offer fluids if they can drink, and use NHS 111 or 999 for heat illness. A rented home that is chronically too hot can be raised with council environmental health.
