10 litre ultrasonic cleaner buying guide

Updated: October 2026

You are choosing a first heated bench bath, and the titles all say 10 litres. That figure is the empty tank near the brim, not the water left once a basket and a part are in. A 10 litre ultrasonic cleaner in this class is usually a squat stainless bath near 300 × 240 × 150 mm, with the heater kept separate from the ultrasonic load. A 600 ml jewellery cup is a different product. This page is the spec split: fill, watts, frequency, then basket, drain, and plug. Prices for the five amazon.co.uk listings are on the [10L ultrasonic cleaner comparison](/hub/workshop/10l-ultrasonic-cleaner). Products Compared used those fields and public UK maker pages, not a lab test, and this page does not rank the ASINs.

What 10 litres actually holds

A 10 litre title is a nominal class. VEVOR’s own UK page for a digital bath sold as 10 litres states a 9.5 litre maximum and a 7.55 litre water-level capacity. You do not pour 10 litres to the rim and then drop the basket in. The working fill sits on a line below the rim. A tank of 300 × 240 × 150 mm is about 10.8 litres filled to the brim with nothing inside. Shape decides the job as much as the number. The squat tank, about 300 mm long and 240 mm wide, takes a carburettor or a small batch of tools. A long narrow 10 litre, around 505 × 135 × 150 mm, can share the volume and still refuse a wide casting. One UK review on the SDKEHUI digital, at about £129.50, says the bath looked a little smaller than the title suggested. That is one comment among eight UK texts, not a measured capacity. Zhikang, at about £120.99, does not state a tank volume. It is not a confirmed 10 litre bath. Ask for the internal millimetres.

Ultrasonic watts and heater watts

Cleaning power and heater power are different loads. Adding them overstates the scrub. DK Sonic’s UK 10 litre pages pair 240 W of ultrasonic cleaning with 300 W of heating, at 40 kHz. Best Ultrasonic’s dial 10 litre states 240 W ultrasonic and 500 W heating. Neither machine is a 540 W or 740 W cleaner. The heater only brings the fluid into the band on the bottle. This set prints the split unevenly. The DK SONIC DK-1000HP-IE at about £209.99 states 240 W from four 60 W transducers and a separate 300 W heater from 20 to 80 °C. The DK-1000EP-UK at about £219.99 puts 240 W in the title and does not state heater watts. The SDKEHUI heater at about £124.99 says 240 W in the title and 120 W in one bullet. The SDKEHUI digital states 0 to 80 °C and does not state ultrasonic watts. Zhikang states 120 W and names a heater without heater watts. A listing that prints both loads, kept apart, is the one you can compare. Many baths offer up to 80 °C, while Allendale’s carburettor fluid stops at 50 °C. The bottle overrides the dial, on the ultrasonic cleaner carburettor page.

Frequency, degas, and controls

40 kHz is the usual bench figure at this size. It describes the transducers, not a cleanliness grade. DK Sonic’s UK digital 10 litre page states 40 kHz, degas, a timer from 1 to 99 minutes, and a UK mains lead. Here, the DK-1000HP-IE states 40 kHz, power from 0 to 100 percent, and a timer up to 30 minutes. The DK-1000EP-UK names full wave, semi-wave, degas, pulse, and sweep. It says the modes are based on 40 kHz, and another line says semi-wave is 33 kHz. Keep both sentences. Do not average them into a frequency the page did not choose. Degas matters more than another mode name. Fresh water holds dissolved gas, and until it leaves, cavitation is weak. Run the tank without parts until the fine bubbles ease, whether or not a button says degas. The first cycle is still fill, heat, degas, basket, then rinse, on how to use an ultrasonic cleaner.

Basket, drain, and the UK plug

Parts must not rest on the tank floor. Durston, Ultrawave, and Branson all say so, because that floor is where the transducers drive the bath. On both DK SONIC listings the basket is about 272 × 205 × 87 mm inside a tank near 300 × 240 mm. That opening, not the litre claim, decides whether a carburettor body goes in flat. A ball basket, which the SDKEHUI heater includes beside a wire basket, is for a chain or other small loose pieces. Empty weights here run about 6.08 kg to 7.2 kg, and a fill adds several kilograms. A drain earns its price if you change oily fluid often. One UK review on the SDKEHUI digital says the hose barb has the wrong thread. One review on the DK-1000HP-IE says that bath has to be carried to the sink. On a domestic socket the lead should meet regulation 35 of the Electrical Equipment (Safety) Regulations 2016: a BS 1363 plug, or a compliant conversion plug with a BS 1362 fuse. One UK review on the DK-1000HP-IE reports an EU plug. DK Sonic’s shop states a UK lead and does not support machines bought elsewhere.

Common questions

Does 10 litres mean I can pour in 10 litres and then add the parts?
No. The badge is nominal. VEVOR’s UK page for a bath titled 10 litres states a 9.5 litre maximum and a 7.55 litre water-level capacity. Fill to the mark in the tank you bought. A brim-full 300 × 240 × 150 mm tank is about 10.8 litres with nothing in it, which is not the working level.
Is 240 W the cleaning power or the heater?
Only when the listing says which load it is. DK Sonic’s UK 10 litre pages print 240 W ultrasonic and 300 W heating as separate figures. Adding them does not create 540 W of cavitation. The SDKEHUI heater prints both 240 W and 120 W, and the SDKEHUI digital prints no ultrasonic watts.
Do I need a degas mode, or is a timer enough?
You need a degas run on fresh water. A labelled mode is convenient. A timer does the same job if you run the bath with no parts until the bubble streams calm down. Sweep and pulse do not replace that step.
Will a squat 300 mm tank take the same parts as a long narrow 10 litre?
Not when the part is wide. A tank near 300 × 240 × 150 mm and a tank near 505 × 135 × 150 mm can both be sold as 10 litres. The DK SONIC baskets here are about 272 × 205 mm. Measure the part against that opening.
What plug should a domestic bath have in the UK?
A BS 1363 plug, or a compliant conversion plug with a BS 1362 fuse, under regulation 35 of the Electrical Equipment (Safety) Regulations 2016. One UK review on the DK SONIC DK-1000HP-IE reports an EU plug. Check the moulded plug before the first fill.
Is a drain worth paying for on a 10 litre bath?
Yes if you dump oily water often and you will not carry a tank that already weighs about 6 to 7 kg empty. A barb in the carton can still be the wrong thread, which one UK review reports on the SDKEHUI digital. Without a working drain, the bath goes to the sink.
When is a 10 litre bath too big for rings only?
When the load is a few plain rings. You heat several litres for work a small cup was built to hold, and a larger tank does not make a fragile stone safer. Buy this class for a carburettor, a tool batch, or several pieces at once.
