Weed membrane 150g comparison 2026

The best weed membranes 150g, compared.

Top pick: Vivo 2 m × 50 m, 8 oz Best value: GardenGloss 150 gsm, 10 m × 2 m – Lowest shelf price among the three sheets that print 150 g/m², at £25.99 for 10 m × 2 m, with the same shared reviews. Updated October 2026.

Peter F.Editor

A 150 gsm weed membrane is a polypropylene landscape fabric whose cloth weighs about 150 grams per square metre. Shoppers on amazon.co.uk use it to shade weeds under bark, gravel, paths and beds, while the listing claims that water can pass. Many rolls in that search only say heavy duty and never print 150 g/m². In the ten listings kept here, only the three GardenGloss sizes state 150 g/m². The other seven omit grams per square metre or print 8 oz instead. For a domestic buy, look for a stated weight, a width that limits joins, pegs that match the ground, and mulch or stone so the sheet is not left in the sun. It is not a driveway structure, and it does not replace a non-woven geotextile a fitter has specified. Prices here run from £8.99 to £39.99. The top pick is the GardenGloss 25 m × 1 m roll at £34.99. The best value is the GardenGloss 10 m × 2 m sheet at £25.99. How to read the weight, the width and the pegs is in the [150 g/m² buying guide](/hub/weed-control/weed-membrane-150g/sub/weed-membrane-150g-buying-guide).

A 150 gsm weed membrane is a polypropylene landscape fabric whose cloth weighs about 150 grams per square metre.

The best weed membranes 150g in detail

Vivo 2 m × 50 m, 8 oz

Rank 1

Vivo 2 m × 50 m, 8 oz

∼£40

Our view

The long Vivo sheet is 2 m × 50 m at £39.99, model CM250, item weight 10.26 kg, which is 100 m² and about £0.40 per square metre if you can use the length. The bullet prints 8 oz and 350 N, not grams per square metre, and the listing does not name the fibre. The star line is 4.7 from 1,067 reviews, shared with the 1 m × 10 m file, and one review names the 2 m × 50 m size. A review in that pool says it needs weights or pegs, and none are in the box. The shared comments also describe a light cloth that frays, and edges that go hairy if left uncovered. The bullet claims water drainage and air penetration for greenhouses, paths, beds, and gravel. It is the large-area option when you will cover every cut and you do not need 150 g/m² printed. It is the wrong buy if a stated fabric weight is the reason you searched.

Pros

  • 2 m × 50 m, about 100 m²
  • About £0.40/m² at £39.99 if you use the full roll
  • Bullet states 8 oz and 350 N
  • 4.7 from 1,067 reviews on the shared line

Cons

  • 8 oz is not grams per square metre
  • Review text is shared with the 1 m × 10 m sheet
  • Frays if cut edges are left uncovered
  • No pegs, and a review says it needs weights or pegs

Best for: A long 2 m run, such as a greenhouse or a path, when area matters more than a printed 150 g/m².

Less suitable: A small bed, or a specification that must say 150 g/m².

Common questions

Is the weight 150 g/m²?

No. The bullet says 8 oz and 350 N. It does not define the ounce unit or print g/m².

Does the listing include pegs?

No. A review in the shared pool says it needs weights or pegs.

Are the reviews only about the 50 m roll?

The same review text is in the 1 m × 10 m file. One review names the 2 m × 50 m size. The star line is 4.7 from 1,067 on both.

Vivo 1 m × 10 m, 8 oz

Rank 2

Vivo 1 m × 10 m, 8 oz

∼£13

Our view

This Vivo listing is the short 1 m × 10 m sheet at £12.99, model CM110, item weight 1.3 kg, with the same 8 oz and 350 N bullet as the 2 m × 50 m file. The star line is 4.7 from 1,067 reviews, and that review text is shared with the long roll, so it is not a separate test of the 10 m length. The listing does not name the fibre. The bullet says water drainage and air penetration, and pegs are not included. In the shared pool, buyers describe a light cloth that frays, and edges that go hairy if you leave them uncovered. A 1 m width means a long overlap on anything wider than a narrow border. Use it for a 10 m strip when you will cover the cut edge the same day. Do not read 8 oz as a printed 150 g/m².

Pros

  • 1 m × 10 m strip the bullet says you can roll out
  • Bullet states 8 oz and 350 N
  • 4.7 from 1,067 reviews on the shared line
  • £12.99 for 10 m²

Cons

  • Review text is shared with the 2 m × 50 m roll
  • Edges fray and go hairy if left uncovered
  • No pegs, and no fibre name
  • 8 oz is not a grams-per-square-metre figure

Best for: A narrow border or greenhouse strip about 1 m wide, covered the same day.

Less suitable: A wide bed that would need several overlaps, or a search that requires 150 g/m² in the title.

Common questions

How does this differ from the other Vivo file?

This title is 1 m × 10 m, model CM110, item weight 1.3 kg, £12.99. The other is 2 m × 50 m. The bullets and the review text match.

What material is named?

The listing does not name a fibre. The bullet gives 8 oz and 350 N and says it is for under gravel.

Do reviews mention fraying?

Yes, in the shared pool: a light cloth that frays, and edges that go hairy if left uncovered.

Velway 2 m × 5 m with 30 pegs

Rank 3

Velway 2 m × 5 m with 30 pegs

∼£11

Our view

Velway’s pack is a 2 m × 5 m woven polypropylene sheet at £10.54 with 30 U-pegs stated as 150 mm × 36 mm and 3 mm wire, folded so the pegs sit inside the sheet. The rating is 4.6 from 1,200 amazon.co.uk reviews, and green guide lines are printed for cutting. Grams per square metre are not on the listing, so the page itself does not answer a 150 g/m² search. UK reviews praise the pegs and also say the thin wire bent in compacted soil. The bullet says air, water, and nutrients pass, while one UK review calls the sheet water resistant. It suits a 10 m² bed or a short path if you can push those pegs into the ground you actually have. Leave it when the listing must state 150 g/m² before you pay.

Pros

  • 30 U-pegs in the box, stated as 150 mm × 36 mm and 3 mm wire
  • 2 m × 5 m with green guide lines
  • 4.6 from 1,200 amazon.co.uk reviews
  • Woven polypropylene is named on the listing

Cons

  • Grams per square metre are not printed
  • UK reviews say thin pegs bent in compacted soil
  • One UK review calls the sheet water resistant

Best for: A 10 m² bed or short path where you want the pegs in the same parcel.

Less suitable: Compacted ground where thin wire bends, or a buy that has to show 150 g/m² on the listing.

Common questions

Does the listing include pegs?

Yes. The pack is one 2 m × 5 m sheet and 30 U-pegs, stated as 150 mm long, 36 mm wide, and 3 mm wire. UK reviews both praise them and say thin pegs bent in compacted soil.

Is the weight given as 150 g/m²?

No. The listing does not print grams per square metre.

Does the listing say water passes?

The bullet says air, water, and nutrients pass. One UK review calls the sheet water resistant.

LCGOD 1 m × 10 m woven sheet

Rank 4

LCGOD 1 m × 10 m woven sheet

∼£14

Our view

LCGOD is a 1 m × 10 m woven polypropylene sheet at £13.99, item weight 890 g, with a bullet that calls the cloth UV-treated and says rainwater and nutrients pass. The rating is 4.6 from 141 reviews, a smaller file than Ram, Velway, or iropro. Grams per square metre are not printed, and reviews in the raw file cite about 90 g/m² or 100 g/m², which is not a listing specification. Pegs are not in the box, the bullet tells you to use common garden pegs, and UK reviews still mention pegs and round discs. The stated places are small patios, paths, flower-bed borders, and vegetable areas. It is a narrow 10 m² piece when you already own pegs. It is a weak match if you need the weight printed as 150 g/m².

Pros

  • 1 m × 10 m woven polypropylene is named
  • UV-treated in the bullet
  • 4.6 from 141 amazon.co.uk reviews
  • Rainwater pass-through is claimed for beds and paths

Cons

  • No grams per square metre on the listing
  • No pegs in the box
  • Reviews cite about 90 g/m² or 100 g/m², which is not the specification
  • 141 reviews is a short file next to the larger pools

Best for: A small patio edge or a 1 m vegetable border when you already have pegs.

Less suitable: A buy that needs 150 g/m² printed on the page before you order.

Common questions

Are pegs in the box?

The listed contents are the sheet. The bullet says to use common garden pegs after laying. UK reviews still talk about pegs and round discs.

What weight does the listing print?

It does not print grams per square metre. Reviews in the raw file cite about 90 g/m² or 100 g/m². That is not a listing specification.

Can it be used on flower beds?

The bullet names flower-bed borders, paths, small patios, and vegetable areas, and says rainwater can pass.

iropro 3 m × 10 m woven sheet

Rank 5

iropro 3 m × 10 m woven sheet

∼£23

Our view

The iropro sheet is 3 m × 10 m of black woven high-density polypropylene at £23.48, about 30 m², folded and then rolled, with green guide lines. It carries the largest star line in this set, 4.5 from 6,345 amazon.co.uk reviews. Grams per square metre are not printed, and UK reviews call the cloth light or not heavy duty. Pegs are not included, and a UK review asks for them. The bullet says air and water pass, and that it will not degrade when frequently exposed to strong sunlight, with no number of years. UK reviews on this sheet also say water sits on it. The 3 m width cuts the number of joins on a path compared with a 1 m roll. Treat the drive and gravel lines as listing claims, and cover the sheet, because those reviews do not describe a bare edge as durable.

Pros

  • 3 m × 10 m, so fewer joins than a 1 m roll
  • Green guide lines on black woven polypropylene
  • 4.5 from 6,345 amazon.co.uk reviews
  • About £0.78/m² at the 30 m² size

Cons

  • No grams per square metre, and UK reviews call it light
  • No pegs in the box
  • UK reviews say water sits on the sheet
  • The sunlight sentence gives no lifespan in years

Best for: A wide path or bed where 3 m of width matters more than a printed 150 g/m².

Less suitable: A car drive, or a buy that must show 150 g/m² on the listing.

Common questions

Does the listing say it can go under gravel?

Yes. The bullet names gravel paths, drives, chippings, and artificial grass, and says air and water pass.

Does it include pegs?

No. A UK review asks for pegs. The stated contents are the sheet.

Is 150 g/m² printed?

No. UK reviews call it light or not heavy duty. That is opinion, not a printed weight.

Ram 2 m × 10 m ground cover

Rank 6

Ram 2 m × 10 m ground cover

Our view

The Ram sheet is the low shelf price in this set: the title is 2 m × 10 m at £8.99, and the feedback coverage of 20 m² matches that rectangle, which is about £0.45 per square metre if that is what arrives. Across 3,653 amazon.co.uk reviews the rating is 4.5. A UK review says it arrives folded rather than on a roll, and mentions line markers and a grid print that the bullets do not list. A bullet on the same page says the supplied roll is 2 m × 5 m, so measure the cloth before you plan a bed around 20 m². Grams per square metre are not printed. Included components are the fabric only, and a UK review says to remember pegs. The feedback item form also says Powder, which does not describe a woven sheet. Use it for a small garden job only after you have checked the length.

Pros

  • Title and 20 m² coverage field describe 2 m × 10 m
  • 4.5 from 3,653 amazon.co.uk reviews
  • £8.99, about £0.45/m² if the 20 m² figure is what arrives
  • A UK review mentions grid lines for cutting

Cons

  • A bullet says the roll is 2 m × 5 m
  • No pegs in the box
  • Grams per square metre are not printed
  • Item form field says Powder

Best for: A small border or patio edge when you will measure the sheet and buy pegs separately.

Less suitable: A plan that needs 150 g/m² printed on the listing, or a job where a 5 m length would leave you short.

Common questions

Is it 2 m × 10 m or 2 m × 5 m?

The title says 2 m × 10 m. A bullet says the supplied roll is 2 m × 5 m. Feedback coverage is 20 m², which matches 2 m × 10 m.

What is it made of?

The bullet says a woven permeable fabric. A feedback field also says item form Powder, which does not describe a membrane.

Does it include pegs?

Included components are weed fabric only. A UK review says to remember pegs.

GardenGloss 150 gsm, 25 m × 1 m

Rank 7

GardenGloss 150 gsm, 25 m × 1 m

∼£35

Our view

This GardenGloss listing is the 25 m × 1 m roll that states 150 g/m², at £34.99, item weight 3.92 kg, with product dimensions of 100 × 15 × 15 cm. It is the only stated 150 g/m² sheet in this set that arrives as a roll rather than a folded 2 m width, which is why it is the top pick when you are cutting a long narrow bed. The rating is 4.4 from 1,306 reviews, shared with the 10 m × 2 m and 15 m × 2 m files. The spec table still says fleece, and the weave is not named. The bullet says water and nutrients pass, while UK reviews in that pool say water does not pass, or that it puddles and then absorbs. UV stabilisers are stated with the limit that this does not mean prolonged direct sunlight, and pegs are not included. The score follows the printed weight and the roll, not a claim that the reviews prove it drains. Leave it if you need a 2 m or 3 m width without a join.

Pros

  • Title states 150 g/m²
  • 25 m × 1 m supplied as a roll
  • UV line limits the claim to less than prolonged direct sun
  • 4.4 from 1,306 reviews on the shared GardenGloss line

Cons

  • Spec table says fleece
  • Shared UK reviews say water sits or puddles
  • No pegs in the box
  • £34.99 is higher than the folded 10 m × 2 m sheet

Best for: A long narrow bed or path edge where you want a 1 m roll and 150 g/m² printed on the title.

Less suitable: A wide bed that would need two or three lengths side by side, or a site where water must pass and the reviews already say it sits.

Common questions

Is this the folded pack?

No. This title says 25 m × 1 m, roll. The 2 m widths in the other GardenGloss files are folded.

What weight is printed?

150 g/m² in the title and in the bullet. The spec table still says fleece.

Do the reviews describe water sitting on the sheet?

Yes, in the shared pool: more than one UK review says water does not pass, and one says it puddles and then absorbs.

GardenGloss 150 gsm, 10 m × 2 m

Rank 8

GardenGloss 150 gsm, 10 m × 2 m

∼£26

Our view

GardenGloss prints 150 g/m² on this 10 m × 2 m sheet, folded, at £25.99, with an item weight of 3.12 kg. That is the lowest shelf price among the three listings here that state 150 g/m², about £1.30 per square metre for 20 m², which is why it is the best value in this set. The rating is 4.4 from 1,306 reviews, and the same review text sits on the 15 m × 2 m and 25 m × 1 m files, so it is one pool. The spec table says fleece while the title says weed membrane, and the weave is not named. The bullet says water and nutrients pass, and the UV line says stabilisers do not mean prolonged direct sunlight. In that shared pool, more than one UK review says water stays on the sheet, or puddles and then absorbs, and pegs are not in the box. Choose it when you want the weight in writing and can unfold a 2 m width. Leave it if water sitting on the cloth is a reason to stop, or if you need a review file for this size alone.

Pros

  • Title and bullet state 150 g/m²
  • 10 m × 2 m at £25.99, the lowest price of the three stated 150 g/m² sheets
  • UV line says stabilisers do not mean prolonged direct sun
  • 4.4 from 1,306 reviews on the shared line

Cons

  • Spec table says fleece while the title says weed membrane
  • Shared UK reviews say water sits or puddles
  • No pegs in the box
  • Review text is shared across three sizes

Best for: A 20 m² bed or vegetable patch when the printed weight matters and you can unfold a 2 m sheet.

Less suitable: A path where water must leave through the cloth, or a parcel that has to include pegs.

Common questions

What size is this ASIN?

The title is 10 m × 2 m, folded. Package dimensions are 45 × 31.4 × 15 cm and the item weight is 3.12 kg.

Does the listing say it stops every weed?

A question in the file asks that. The bullet says it prevents unwanted weed growth. It does not say all weeds.

Why is the review count the same as the other GardenGloss sizes?

The review text matches the other two GardenGloss raw files. Treat 1,306 as one shared pool.

GardenGloss 150 gsm, 15 m × 2 m

Rank 9

GardenGloss 150 gsm, 15 m × 2 m

∼£40

Our view

GardenGloss states 150 g/m² on this 15 m × 2 m folded sheet at £39.99, the highest GardenGloss shelf price here, with an item weight of 4.66 kg and package dimensions of 42.1 × 33.1 × 25.5 cm. You get 30 m², about £1.33 per square metre, which is a little more than the 10 m × 2 m sheet and a little less than the 1 m roll. The 4.4 rating from 1,306 reviews is the same shared pool, so the comments are not only about this length. The spec table says fleece. The bullet says water and nutrients pass, and more than one UK review in the pool says water stays on the sheet. The UV line does not promise prolonged direct sunlight, and there are no pegs. Choose it when you need about 30 m² at 2 m wide and the weight must be printed. The 10 m × 2 m listing is the lower price for the same stated cloth if 20 m² is enough.

Pros

  • States 150 g/m² on a 15 m × 2 m sheet
  • 30 m² from one folded pack
  • Same UV caveat as the other GardenGloss sizes
  • 4.4 from 1,306 reviews on the shared line

Cons

  • £39.99 is the dearest GardenGloss shelf price in this set
  • Spec table says fleece
  • Shared reviews say water stays on the sheet
  • No pegs, and the pack is folded

Best for: A larger bed of about 30 m² when you want 2 m width and 150 g/m² in the title.

Less suitable: A 20 m² job the cheaper 10 m × 2 m sheet already covers, or a path where drainage through the cloth is the point.

Common questions

What is it made of?

The title and bullet state 150 g/m². The spec table says fleece. The listing does not name a weave.

Does water pass?

The bullet says water and nutrients pass. In the shared UK reviews, more than one buyer says water stays on the sheet.

Are these reviews only for the 15 m × 2 m size?

The same review text is in the 15 m × 2 m, 10 m × 2 m, and 25 m × 1 m raw files. The listing line is 4.4 from 1,306 on each.

YOUNTHYE 3 m × 10 m with 10 pins

Rank 10

YOUNTHYE 3 m × 10 m with 10 pins

∼£28

Our view

YOUNTHYE is a 3 m × 10 m black woven polypropylene sheet at £27.99 with 10 ground pins, 10 washers, and a pin remover. The item weight is 3.46 kg, the unit count also prints 3444.0 gram, grams per square metre are not printed, and the bullet mentions tensile strength without a figure. The raw file has no customer-review line, so there is no star rating to set beside Velway or iropro. The bullet claims strong UV resistance with no number of years, and water drainage is a listing sentence with no UK reviews behind it. Driveways appear in the title, and ten pins on 30 m² is a thin fixing set for a 3 m × 10 m edge. You might use the width and the included pins on a path only if you accept an unreviewed listing. Do not treat it as a tested membrane for cars.

Pros

  • 3 m × 10 m woven polypropylene
  • 10 pins, 10 washers, and a pin remover in the box
  • About £0.93/m² if you use the full 30 m²
  • Water drainage and UV resistance are stated on the bullet

Cons

  • No customer-review line on the listing
  • Grams per square metre are not printed
  • The UV claim has no duration
  • Ten pins for 30 m², and driveways are named without reviews

Common questions

How long does the UV claim last?

The bullet says strong UV resistance. It does not give a number of years.

What fixings are included?

Ten ground pins, ten washers, and one pin remover, with the 3 m × 10 m sheet.

Is there an Amazon rating?

The raw file has no customer-review line, so there is no star rating to quote.

How we compared

Ten weed membranes on amazon.co.uk were scored on 16 October 2026 from listing facts and review notes, not from a garden trial or a laboratory weigh. Five parts add to 100, then deductions come off for clashes such as a shared review pool, a fleece line on a weed-membrane title, or a length that does not match. The best-value award is the lowest shelf price among the sheets that print 150 g/m², after the top pick is set. A listed gram figure is a manufacturer claim. The score ranks a listing inside this set. It is not a British Standard and it is not a checked tensile test.

1

Amazon stars

30%

The amazon.co.uk star average, divided by 5 and multiplied by 30, rounded half up, up to 30 points. No star line scores 0. The star line on each product stays the UK listing figure.

2

Review volume

15%

From 2,000 reviews the mark is 15, from 1,000 it is 12, from 100 it is 8, and no review line is 0.

3

Printed weight

25%

150 g/m² in the title scores 25. An 8 oz line with no grams per square metre scores 8. No printed weight scores 0. Stars on an unprinted cloth do not outrank a title that prints 150 g/m².

4

Kit and clarity

20%

Points cover fixings in the box, whether the size lines agree, and how the water claim sits against UK reviews. A bed or path line scores more than a driveway claim with nothing in the file to support it.

5

Price

10%

A lower price per square metre scores more, up to 10 points, using the title size when the coverage field agrees. Price also picks the best-value sheet once the top pick is set.

Weed membrane 150g buying guide

Start with the printed weight, then with width and joins, then with pegs and a cover, then with what the reviews say about water. Stars come after those. The notes below follow that order for these ten amazon.co.uk listings. None of the scores is a laboratory weigh.

What is a 150 gsm weed membrane?

A 150 gsm weed membrane is a polypropylene landscape fabric whose cloth weighs about 150 grams per square metre. UK shoppers use it to shade weeds under bark, gravel, paths and beds, while the listing claims water can pass. On amazon.co.uk the same search often returns rolls that only say heavy duty and never print 150 g/m². In the ten listings on this page, only the three GardenGloss sizes state 150 g/m². Vivo's two sizes print 8 oz and 350 N.

Best for

  • A long narrow bed where you want 150 g/m² printed and a 1 m roll
  • A bed of about 20 m² where the folded 2 m GardenGloss sheet is enough
  • A 10 m² bed where the pegs need to arrive in the same parcel

Not ideal for

  • A car drive, or any surface a fitter has specified as non-woven geotextile
  • A buy that treats heavy duty, or 8 oz, as a printed 150 g/m²
  • Ground that still has bindweed, horsetail, couch or brambles in it

Mistakes to avoid

  1. 1

Buying the search phrase when the grams are missing

Heavy duty is not 150 g/m². In this set only the three GardenGloss titles print it. Vivo's 8 oz is a different unit, and reading it as about 271 g/m² is a conversion, not a weigh.

  2. 2

Butting sheets, or laying over live roots

Laying guides cite 100 mm, about 150 mm, or 300 mm of overlap depending on the job. Laying over bindweed, horsetail, couch or brambles leaves the weeds a way through.

  3. 3

    Leaving the cloth uncovered

A UV line is not a licence to leave edges bare. GardenGloss says stabilisers do not mean prolonged direct sunlight. Vivo reviews describe edges that fray if they are left uncovered. Ten pins will not hold 30 m² in wind.

What to weigh up

Printed weight, width and joins

High

Printed fabric weight comes first. Prefer grams per square metre on the listing. Heavy duty is also used for lighter cloth on amazon.co.uk, including cloth sold around 100 gsm. Vivo's 8 oz is a different unit. Reading it as ounces per square yard is about 271 g/m², and that is a conversion, not a weigh. Only the three GardenGloss sizes in this set print 150 g/m². The spec table on those three still says fleece, and the weave is not named. Open size comes next.

Pegs, cover and what the stars do not prove

High

Permeability is a claim you can set beside the reviews. It was not tested on this page. Bullets say water passes. UK reviews on GardenGloss and iropro say water sits. One Velway review calls the sheet water resistant. Pegs in the box have to match the edge. Velway includes 30 U-pegs, stated as 150 mm by 36 mm and 3 mm wire, with 10 m², and UK reviews say the thin wire bent in compacted soil. YOUNTHYE includes 10 pins, 10 washers and a remover with 30 m². The other listings do not include pegs.

Which option suits you?

Three typical situations, each with a recommendation from this comparison.

A long narrow bed

You want 150 g/m² in the title and a roll you can cut along a border. The GardenGloss 25 m × 1 m is £34.99. The 4.4 from 1,306 reviews is shared with the other GardenGloss sizes, and those reviews say water sits. Pegs are not in the box.

About 20 m², weight in writing

You need a 2 m width and the grams printed on the page. The GardenGloss 10 m × 2 m is £25.99, the lowest price of the three sheets that state 150 g/m². It is folded, the spec table says fleece, and the reviews are the same shared pool.

Pegs in the same parcel

You would rather have the pegs than a printed 150 g/m². Velway is a 2 m × 5 m woven sheet at £10.54 with 30 U-pegs. Grams per square metre are not on the listing, and UK reviews say the thin wire bent in compacted soil.

Common questions about weed membranes 150g

Which weed membrane 150g is the top pick in this set?
The top pick is the GardenGloss 25 m × 1 m roll at £34.99. The title prints 150 g/m² and the pack is a roll, not a folded 2 m sheet. It averages 4.4 from 1,306 reviews, shared with the other two GardenGloss sizes. The spec table says fleece. UK reviews in that pool say water sits or puddles, and pegs are not included. Skip it if you need a 2 m or 3 m width without a join.
How much does a 150g weed membrane cost on amazon.co.uk?
Shelf prices here run from £8.99 to £39.99 on amazon.co.uk, read on 16 October 2026. That is these ten listings, not a market average. About £0.40 to £0.80 per square metre covers the long Vivo roll, the Ram title size and the iropro 3 m sheet. None of those print 150 g/m². The three GardenGloss sheets that do print it are £25.99, £34.99 and £39.99, about £1.30 to £1.40 per square metre.
What should you check before you buy a 150g weed membrane?
Start with grams per square metre on the listing. Heavy duty is also used for lighter cloth, and 8 oz is not g/m². Then check width. A 1 m, 2 m or 3 m cloth decides how many overlaps you need, so add that overlap before you trust the square metres. Then check pegs against the edge, and whether you will cover the sheet the same day. A large review count does not print a missing weight.
Does heavy duty mean 150 g/m²?
No. In this set only the three GardenGloss sizes print 150 g/m². iropro, Ram, Velway, LCGOD and YOUNTHYE do not print grams per square metre, and UK reviews of the iropro sheet call it light. Vivo prints 8 oz and 350 N. Treating 8 oz as ounces per square yard is about 271 g/m², and that conversion is not a weigh. A lighter cloth can still be specified: Hy-Tex publishes tensile figures for a 100 g/m² woven.
Will water pass through these weed membranes?
The bullets say water, air or nutrients pass. That sentence was not tested here. On the GardenGloss listings, more than one UK review says water stays on the sheet, or puddles and then absorbs. iropro reviews also say water sits. One Velway review calls the sheet water resistant, while its bullet says air, water and nutrients pass. If you need water to leave through the cloth, those reviews are a reason to hesitate.
Is a 150g weed membrane the right sheet under a drive?
No. A car on gravel needs a merchant geotextile and a sub-base, not a star rating from these weed membranes. Several titles mention drives. Nothing here is a wide-width tensile certificate, and YOUNTHYE names driveways with no reviews. Non-woven fleece for a drain or soakaway is a different product, in the drainage fleece comparison. Call a fitter if vehicles will use the surface.
Do you have to cover a weed membrane?
Yes, if you want the edge to last. A UV line is not a licence to leave the cloth in the sun. GardenGloss says stabilisers do not mean prolonged direct sunlight. iropro says the sheet will not degrade in strong sunlight and gives no number of years. Vivo reviews describe edges that fray and go hairy if left uncovered. Cover with bark, gravel or stone the same day. Pegs are sharp. This page did not run a UV test.
When should you call a professional?
Call a fitter for a drive that will carry vehicles, for falls toward the pavement, for a dropped kerb, and for ground that floods or is being built as a soakaway. In England, permeable gravel can be any size without planning permission for that surface. An impermeable surface over 5 m² needs permission if water does not run to a lawn or border. The membrane does not decide that. Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland are outside that England order.

Our verdict

In this set of ten amazon.co.uk listings, the top pick is the GardenGloss 25 m × 1 m roll. It is £34.99, the title states 150 g/m², and it is the only one of those three supplied as a roll. The rating is 4.4 from 1,306 reviews shared with the other GardenGloss sizes, the spec table says fleece, and UK reviews in that pool say water sits. The best value is the GardenGloss 10 m × 2 m sheet at £25.99, about £1.30 per square metre, with the same stated weight and the same shared reviews. The 15 m × 2 m sheet scores the same and costs £39.99, so it does not take the award. Cheaper sheets that do not print grams per square metre are not the award, because the search is for 150 g/m². The other eight have no award. None of these scores is a laboratory weigh.
