Metabo flat head cordless angle grinder

Updated: 22 October 2026

You are dressing a fillet weld inside a steel frame, or grinding a corner a standard head keeps striking. A Metabo flat head cordless angle grinder exists for that reach, and it is an expensive way to cut bar in the open. On amazon.co.uk the listing is the WVBF 18 LTX BL 15-125 Quick, order 601308840, at £245.77 with no battery. The [Metabo cordless angle grinder comparison](/hub/tools/metabo-cordless-angle-grinder) holds the other prices from the same 19 October 2026 shelf. We did not lab-test the tool. The job a normal head misses

A standard 125 mm head meets the steel before the disc does when the gearbox cannot clear a fillet or a return. Metabo’s sheet for order 601308840 states 43° on this 125 mm WVBF, with an M14 spindle. Some 150 mm flat-heads are listed at 39°, and they are a different tool. If a normal head already reaches the metal, the 43° housing is clearance you will pay for and not use. Removing the guard does not copy the geometry. Fit the guard this listing includes. The fitting order is on the how to use a cordless angle grinder page.

What this cordless listing adds

The bullets name a variable thumbwheel, Metabo Quick, a brake and a brushless motor. The maker sheet gives 2,000–8,000 rpm, and the listing’s top speed is 8,000 rpm, so match the disc to that. The 1,500 W line is a mains-equivalence class, not a measured draw. The box includes five 125 mm P60 convex flap discs, a dust filter, a guard, a side handle, a flange, the Quick nut and a metaBOX. The filter does not make the tool dust-free. The sheet states a stop within 1.5 seconds. We did not time a disc.

The money and the missing stars

£245.77 is the tool in a metaBOX, with no battery. An 18 V CAS pack and a UK charger sit outside that figure. What the body-only price leaves out is on the Metabo angle grinder body only page. The stored weight is 2.15 kg, and the maker sheet gives 2.6 kg with a pack fitted. There is no Customer Reviews line, so the display score is 0. Blueperry showed £319.68 including VAT for the same order. That is another shop, not the amazon.co.uk price.

When a standard 125 mm Metabo is enough

Open cutting belongs on the W 18 7-125, order 602371850, at £68.99 and 8,500 rpm, with 4.6 from 158 reviews, if you own the packs. The flat head is the wrong spend when the only problem is a lead. Choose the WVBF when the housing stops short of the fillet, at about three and a half times the 7-125 price, plus a pack either way. Series codes are on the buying guide.

Common questions

What angle can this head reach?
Metabo’s sheet for order 601308840 states 43° on this 125 mm head, with an M14 spindle. That figure is for the WVBF 18 LTX BL 15-125 Quick on amazon.co.uk. Flat-head models listed at 39° are often 150 mm tools and a different order. The angle helps when a normal gearbox fouls the weld. The disc stays 125 mm.
Is £245.77 the whole system?
£245.77 on the 19 October 2026 amazon.co.uk shelf is the WVBF in a metaBOX. There is no battery and no charger in that price. You fit an 18 V CAS pack you already own, or you buy one. Blueperry’s £319.68 including VAT is another shop’s price for the same order. The £68.99 W 18 7-125 is also a body without a pack.
Does the disc stop when I switch off?
The listing has a brake sentence, and Metabo’s sheet for order 601308840 states a stop within 1.5 seconds. That is the maker’s claim for this WVBF. We did not time a disc. The brake does not replace the guard, and it is not a reason to set the tool down while the disc is still moving. In this set, this is the row whose bullets claim that brake.
Why variable speed on a grinder?
Metabo’s sheet gives 2,000–8,000 rpm on a thumbwheel. The listing’s top speed is 8,000 rpm. Use the lower part when a P60 flap is dressing a fillet, and the upper part when you are removing more weld metal. A fixed-speed 125 mm Metabo has no dial. The wheel does not turn a cutting disc into a grinding disc.
What is in the box besides the tool?
The row lists five 125 mm P60 convex flap discs, a dust filter, a guard, a side handle, a flange, a Quick nut and a metaBOX. Convex flaps are domed so they can follow a fillet. There is no battery and no charger. The dust filter is a named part. It does not mean the tool makes no dust.
Can I take the guard off a normal grinder instead?
Taking the guard off a standard 125 mm Metabo does not give you a 43° head, and it leaves the disc exposed. This listing includes its own guard. Fit that guard, then use the same disc, flange and nut order as on any other grinder here. If the weld is reachable with a guarded normal head, buy the normal head.
