Metabo angle grinder body only

Updated: 22 October 2026

You are looking at an 18 V cordless grinder on amazon.co.uk and you want to know whether that figure will cut a steel bolt out of the box. A Metabo angle grinder body only search is a check for an 18 V battery and a UK charger, or just the bare machine. Across the seven listings in the [Metabo cordless angle grinder comparison](/hub/tools/metabo-cordless-angle-grinder), the headline price is the tool rather than a starter kit. Shelf prices are from 19 October 2026. A qualifying purchase can earn a commission at no extra cost to you.

What these prices leave out

Six of the seven listings state that no battery and no charger are in the box. The £142.27 CC, order 600349850, leaves that field unstated, so none of the seven is a confirmed kit at the 19 October 2026 prices. The £68.99 W 18 7-125, the £74.95 brushless 9-125 and the £245.77 WVBF 18 LTX BL 15-125 Quick are bare. Which body fits the job is on the best Metabo cordless angle grinder page. The £42.97 sister listing is marked battery No, so read the £142.27 page on the day before you treat it as a kit.

A case is still body only

A metaBOX, a MetaLoc or a box is a carry case, not a battery. Every row here that includes a case still omits the pack. Without an 18 V pack and a 230 V UK charger with a BS 1363 plug, the first spend is the grinder plus a pack and charger. Order 602374850 at £74.95 is cardboard. Order 602374840 at £125.45 is the same 10,000 rpm class in a metaBOX 165 L. The extra £50.50 is the case. Those order numbers are in the buying guide.

Which 18 V pack fits

These grinders use Metabo’s 18 V slide interface, part of the Cordless Alliance System. A Metabo pack, or a CAS pack from Rothenberger or Mafell, locks on. Makita, DeWalt and Bosch Professional 18 V packs use different rails and will not fit. Metabo’s LiHD page gives no grinding minutes: 4.0 Ah is 72 Wh at 580 g, 5.5 Ah is 99 Wh at 980 g for high-draw 125 mm work, 8.0 Ah is 144 Wh, and 10.0 Ah is 180 Wh.

What reviewers say about runtime

UK reviews on the W 18 7-125, 4.6 from 158, are comments on one brushed model, not a lab test. Buyers say a 2.0 Ah drill pack runs down once a 125 mm disc bites into steel, and they name 4.0 Ah to 5.5 Ah instead. The flat-head’s box, still without a pack, is on the flat-head page.

Common questions

Does the £68.99 Metabo W 18 7-125 include a battery and charger?
No. On amazon.co.uk the £68.99 W 18 7-125, order 602371850, is a bare tool in cardboard without an 18 V battery or charger. You get the 125 mm grinder, guard, side handle, flanges and spanner, and you supply a Metabo 18 V or CAS pack separately.
Is a Metabo metaBOX or MetaLoc a battery?
No. A metaBOX and a MetaLoc are modular plastic carry cases, not batteries or chargers. When the £125.45 W 18 L BL 9-125 or the £42.97 CC 18 LTX BL comes in a case, you get storage for the bare tool. The battery line still reads No.
Will my Makita, DeWalt or Bosch 18 V battery fit a Metabo grinder?
No. 18 V batteries from Makita, DeWalt or Bosch Professional do not fit a Metabo 18 V grinder, because each brand uses its own rail and contact pins. These grinders accept Metabo 18 V slide packs, Li-Power and LiHD, and 18 V packs from Cordless Alliance System partners such as Rothenberger.
Is a 2.0 Ah battery enough for a cordless angle grinder?
A 2.0 Ah 18 V pack will spin a Metabo grinder for a quick trim. UK reviewers of the 125 mm W 18 7-125 say 2.0 Ah packs drain fast under cutting or grinding loads. Both that feedback and Metabo’s UK LiHD guide point to 4.0 Ah or 5.5 Ah packs for 125 mm work.
Why does one 76 mm Metabo grinder listing say not stated for the battery?
The £142.27 CC 18 LTX BL, order 600349850, leaves the battery field unstated in the recorded amazon.co.uk table. The title does not name a battery. Check the live listing before paying £142.27 over the £42.97 sister, which is marked battery No.
Do I need a special charger for Metabo LiHD batteries in the UK?
Metabo 18 V slide packs, Li-Power or LiHD, charge on Metabo and CAS 18 V chargers such as the ASC 55 or ASC 145. In the UK, check that the charger has a BS 1363 three-pin plug for 230 V mains rather than a European plug.
