Makita 125mm angle grinder buying guide

Updated: October 2026

You have eight amazon.co.uk listings in front of you, all 125 mm, and most titles mention Makita. On the 19 October 2026 shelf the prices run from £29.99 to £97.53, and only two rows carry Makita in the brand field. This Makita 125mm angle grinder buying guide sorts that shelf by the supply, the brand and the box. It does not crown one winner. The [Makita angle grinder 125 comparison](/hub/tools/makita-angle-grinder-125) holds the eight rows side by side. A qualifying purchase can earn a commission at no extra cost to you. Peter F., DIY & tools editor, did not run a lab cut.

What you are actually choosing

The titles look like one product family. The attribute rows describe four different buys. The Makita GA5030RK, ASIN B01EMQXPVS, is the 230 V corded listing at £81.89, at 720 W, 11,000 rpm and 1.8 kg, with a case and a steel grinding disc. The Makita GA5034/1, ASIN B008NF4X4I, is the 110 V listing at £97.53, with the same 720 W and 11,000 rpm, 2.9 kg, and the grinder only in the box. Five other rows are bare cordless bodies. The Fledukten kit at £69.99 includes two packs printed as 21 V 4.0 Ah. Fitting the disc is a separate job, on the how to use a Makita 125 mm angle grinder page.

The three checks

Check the voltage row before the colour of the housing. The GA5030RK says 230 V. The GA5034/1 says 110 V. Tool Den says that 110 V GA5034 needs a transformer and is not for a standard 240 V socket. A 240 V GA5034 page is a different listing. Synxiter and Gautesy have an 18 V attribute row. JOJOCY, laloohome and Roadtime leave the voltage row empty. Fledukten prints 18 V on the row and 21 V on the packs. The plug choice is on the 110 V or 230 V page. The brand field says Makita on those two corded rows only. The other six are Synxiter, JOJOCY, laloohome, Fledukten, Roadtime or Gautesy. Five bare bodies exclude the battery. Synxiter asks for at least 4.0 Ah, and all four of its UK reviews are dated 30 August 2026.

What the price does not include

A lower shelf price does not include Makita service or one scale of power. Both Makita rows print 720 W. Synxiter prints 1,200 W beside an 18 V row, Fledukten prints 550 W, and Roadtime's 900 W sits in a bullet. A larger number is not a deeper cut. Gautesy's attribute row says 90,000 rpm and the bullets say 9,000 rpm. laloohome has a UK review in which the tool keeps cutting out, and JOJOCY has a UK review in which the trigger fell apart. The DGA504Z is absent. Whether a BL18 list makes a tool Makita is the genuine or compatible page.

What this guide leaves alone

Screwfix's buying guide gives a class rule of thumb of about 38 mm of cut on a 125 mm disc and about 70 mm on a 230 mm disc, and it says wood is not the job. Treat 38 mm as that class note, not a depth measured on these eight tools. Roadtime's bullet includes a wood cutting disc. Naming a disc does not change the class warning. Nothing in the saved reviews is a comparative safety test. This guide tells you which row matches the supply you have, the brand you think you are buying, and the parts that are packed.

Common questions

Is the GA5034/1 for a normal UK socket?
No. The attribute row for B008NF4X4I says 110 V, 720 W and 11,000 rpm, and the saved price is £97.53. Tool Den states that this 110 V GA5034 needs a transformer and is not for a standard 240 V socket. The 230 V listing in this set is the GA5030RK at £81.89. A shop page that shows a 240 V GA5034 is a different code from this ASIN.
Which of these eight is actually Makita?
The brand field says Makita on two rows: the GA5030RK and the GA5034/1. Both are corded. Synxiter, JOJOCY, laloohome, Fledukten, Roadtime and Gautesy are other brands. A title that mentions a Makita 18 V battery describes the pack the seller hopes you already own. It does not change the brand field.
Which boxes include a battery?
Only the Fledukten kit. Its included line lists two 21 V 4.0 Ah packs and a 21 V 1.2 A charger, and the listing says those packs stay on that brand. The other five cordless rows say the battery is not included. The two Makita tools are mains tools, so a battery is not part of either product.
Does for Makita 18V mean the tool is a DGA504?
No. A BL18 code in a bullet is the seller's list of packs they claim will fit that body. It does not make the tool a Makita DGA504Z. That genuine cordless 125 mm model is not one of these eight ASINs. Makita UK lists the DGA504Z as tool only, at 8,500 revolutions per minute.
Is 1,200 W on a cordless listing the same as 720 W on the Makita rows?
No. The GA5030RK and the GA5034/1 both print 720 W on a mains attribute row. Synxiter prints 1,200 W beside an 18 V, 8,000 rpm row, and the battery is not in the box. Keep each figure on its own listing. A higher printed wattage is not, by itself, a deeper or faster cut.
How deep is a 125 mm class cut, as a rule of thumb?
Screwfix's buying guide says about 38 mm on a 125 mm class and about 70 mm on a 230 mm class, and it says an angle grinder is the wrong tool for wood. That 38 mm line is a class rule of thumb, not a cut we measured on these ASINs. JOJOCY's own listing claims up to 33 mm, which you should read as that seller's figure.
