Bosch cordless angle grinder buying guide

Updated: 22 October 2026

You already own a Bosch 18 V pack, or you are about to buy the first one, and amazon.co.uk is showing a body from £62.00. That figure is not a finished grinder until the pack, the disc class, and the lock agree. This Bosch cordless angle grinder buying guide keeps those choices in that order, using the nine listings saved on 21 October 2026. Prices and stars sit on the [Bosch cordless angle grinder comparison](/hub/tools/bosch-cordless-angle-grinder). The connector is on [Bosch green or blue angle grinder](/hub/tools/bosch-cordless-angle-grinder/sub/bosch-cordless-angle-grinder-green-or-blue). The £155.15 box is on [Bosch angle grinder with battery or bare](/hub/tools/bosch-cordless-angle-grinder/sub/bosch-cordless-angle-grinder-bare-or-kit). Fitting a disc, with the pack off, is on [how to use a Bosch cordless angle grinder](/hub/tools/bosch-cordless-angle-grinder/sub/bosch-cordless-angle-grinder-how-to-use). Peter F., DIY & tools editor, used these listings and Bosch’s UK pages. There was no lab test. A qualifying purchase can earn a commission at no extra cost to you.

Start with the pack you already own

The battery decides the body before any wattage cell does. Bosch sells two 18 V systems that share a voltage figure and do not share a connector. Green POWER FOR ALL packs belong on the green Home and Garden tools. Blue Professional packs, including AMPShare packs back to 2008, belong on the blue tools. Bosch Professional’s UK AMPShare page says the systems are not compatible. A green garden battery will not run a GWS because both labels say 18 V. On this shelf the bullets name POWER FOR ALL on both PWS 18V-70 listings and on the UniversalGrind kit. The bare UniversalGrind, order 06033E5000, and the AdvancedGrind, order 06033E5100, do not name the alliance in the amazon bullets. Bosch DIY UK does, for those order numbers. One UK review of the GWS says it does not take standard batteries. A matching family still does not put a battery in a bare carton.

Bare body or the one kit

Eight of these nine prices are bodies. The £62.00 PWS is a cardboard box. The blue bodies from £89.44 to £148.99 say without battery or charger. The GWX at £199.98 adds an L-BOXX 136 and still names no battery. Only the UniversalGrind kit at £155.15, order 06033E5070, names one 4.0 Ah pack and charger AL18V-20. Both UniversalGrind titles print 115 mm, so the £155.15 line is the pack and the charger, not a larger disc. The header URL is B0C4F3J9C7. The specification table in the same file prints B0C5JWW6RQ. Treat that clash as one kit and follow the header. The listing does not say the AL18V-20 has a BS 1363 plug, so you check the pins. The green English manual recommends a PBA 18V battery of at least 4.0 Ah. A UK review of the bare UniversalGrind says a 2 Ah pack lasted about 3–4 minutes. None of those lines is a runtime we measured.

Disc class only when it is printed

On amazon.co.uk both UniversalGrind titles print 115 mm, and PWS order 06033E6001 prints 125 mm at £69.98. Order 06033E6000 at £62.00 prints no diameter, no wattage, and no rpm. Bosch DIY UK prints 115 mm and 7,800–10,000 rpm for that order. Use the maker card as the maker card. Do not pretend the amazon title said it. The AdvancedGrind title also prints no diameter. The specification rows print 500 W and a maximum of 12,000 rpm. Bosch DIY UK prints 125 mm and 2,800–12,000 rpm for order 06033E5100. Keep the amazon 500 W figure as printed. The GWS 18V-8 will not settle. Order 06019N9000 is £89.44, listed at 800 W, and the amazon title prints no diameter. Bosch’s product page prints 125 mm. The UK category card prints 115 mm. This guide does not give the amazon listing one size. On the two dearer blue bodies the watt line is 1,100 W and a cell reads “1100 Horsepower”. Read the watt line. The GWX cell reads “1.48 Horsepower” beside 1,100 W, and the 4.4 kg item weight includes the L-BOXX.

How the disc locks

The GWS 18V-8 includes a locking nut and a two-hole spanner. A UK review says it has no quick-release blade change, which matches that spanner. The AdvancedGrind includes a quick clamping nut M14, and a bullet claims a tool-free change in less than 12 seconds. That sentence is the listing, not a time we clocked. Both 1,100 W bodies include quick-locking nut 2 608 000 684. Order 06019N4100 has no speed-selection bullet. Order 06019N4000 does: a six-speed dial. Reviews not marked United Kingdom say the cheaper body’s photos describe the six-speed model. If you are paying £135.95 in order to get a dial, you are on the wrong order number. The GWX English bullets do not say X-LOCK. They name a rotatable handle, kickback control, an intelligent brake, and a paddle switch. A different order, 06019N4200, prints X-LOCK, and it is not this ASIN. Bosch’s X-LOCK page says a conventional disc does not fit an X-LOCK body. Until the English listing for 06019N4400 names the system, buy the disc from the parts you can see. If you already own the pack, buy the bare body in that family. If you own no pack, the £155.15 kit is the only row that names a battery and a charger, and it is green.

Common questions

Will my green pack fit a blue Bosch grinder?
No. Bosch Professional UK says AMPShare, including older Professional 18 V packs without the logo, does not work with POWER FOR ALL. Both sides are 18 V. The connector is not shared. A UK review of the GWS 18V-8 says standard batteries do not fit. That is one buyer, and it points the same way as the maker. Do not buy a blue body to run a green garden pack.
Which of these nine includes a battery?
Only the UniversalGrind kit at £155.15, order 06033E5070. The title names one 4.0 Ah pack and charger AL18V-20. The other eight listings are bodies. The £199.98 GWX includes an L-BOXX and still names no battery. A cardboard box on the £62.00 PWS is not a pack. The kit supply list does not name a disc.
What disc fits the amazon GWS 18V-8?
The amazon title does not print a diameter, so this page does not state one size for that listing. Bosch’s product page for order 06019N9000 prints 125 mm. The UK category card prints 115 mm. Those maker lines disagree. The box on amazon is a locking nut and a two-hole spanner, not a quick nut. Match the wheel to the guard and the nut you have, and check the wheel’s marked speed before you start.
Why does one PWS title say 125 mm and the other say nothing?
They are different order numbers. Order 06033E6001 at £69.98 prints 125 mm. Order 06033E6000 at £62.00 prints no diameter, wattage, or rpm. Bosch DIY UK prints 115 mm and 7,800–10,000 rpm for 06033E6000. That is the maker card, not the amazon title. Both are bare POWER FOR ALL bodies. Neither includes a battery.
Is a quick nut the same as X-LOCK?
No. A quick clamping nut, or quick-locking nut 2 608 000 684, still uses a flange and a nut. X-LOCK is a different interface. Bosch says a conventional disc does not fit an X-LOCK body, while many X-LOCK discs fit older nut grinders, with threaded exceptions. Order 06019N4400 does not say X-LOCK in the English bullets. Do not treat a review of another order number as this box.
Should I read “1100 Horsepower” as horsepower?
No. On orders 06019N4100 and 06019N4000 the wattage line is 1,100 W and a cell reads “1100 Horsepower”. On the GWX the cell reads “1.48 Horsepower” beside 1,100 W. Use the watt line. Do not turn the horsepower cell into a second rating. Listed watts are not a measured cut. The AdvancedGrind’s 500 W line stays as amazon printed it.
