Sauna house buying guide

Updated: 21 October 2026

You searched for a sauna house and landed on fabric tents from £109.00 to £219.99, not a timber cabin. This sauna house buying guide is the checklist for those amazon.co.uk listings: heat type, assembled centimetres, a wattage that does not contradict itself, a chair the kit names, and a UK plug that is printed. Prices and stars sit on the [sauna house comparison](/hub/steam-baths/sauna-house). The Products Compared editorial team used those stored listings and public UK sources, checked on 20 October 2026, and did not lab-test the tents. What this comparison is selling

Three formats share the search. Most rows are indoor steam tents with a small generator and a tank of 2.6 or 3 litres. CONLONS, at £219.99 and 4.7 from 25 reviews, is a far-infrared fabric room with no tank listed and no wattage in the technical block. WILLOWYBE, at £217.00 and 4.1 from 232 reviews, is an outdoor shell of 180 × 180 × 200 cm with a smoke outlet and no stove in the price. Which? puts portable steam saunas at about £80–£200, which is a spend band. A steam tent is the sensible row when you want humid heat and will empty the pot, CONLONS only when you want dry heat and will accept a blank wattage, and the outdoor shell only when a stove is a separate buy. How those two indoor types differ is on steam sauna tent vs infrared.

Assembled size, not the parcel

Trust the standing tent, not the parcel. The ThermoLab pop-up, £148.95 and 4.6 from 400 reviews, prints 73 × 28.5 × 42 cm as packed size, with assembled centimetres left blank. Runitude’s 145 × 80 × 80 cm and CHILLZ’s 85 × 85 × 145 cm are seated tents, and Which? notes that small ones can feel cramped. MQFORU states about 196 cm, BioGlow 177.8 cm, and the ThermoLab 6 ft frame 180 × 80 × 80 cm. SereneLife SLISAU40BK prints 86.11 × 72.9 × 102.87 cm and a bullet of 80 × 120 × 180 cm. We measured neither, so neither is the tent by default. CONLONS prints only a 77 × 35.2 × 30.5 cm package.

Watts, the tank and the socket

Stated generators are 1,000–1,600 W, roughly 4–7 A at 230 V, and only if the tent is the sole load on a 13 A BS 1363 socket. About 4.3 A for 1,000 W is a seller rule of thumb. Do not use a coiled reel or share the socket with a kettle. CHILLZ states 1,200 W and then also prints 1,200 kW and 10 kW. SereneLife B0BT256Z8R says 1,000 W in the title and 1,600 W in a bullet, and CONLONS leaves power blank. Tanks that are printed are 2.6 or 3 litres. B0BQ3SNQ2V does not list a BS 1363 plug, and one UK review describes a two-pin plug a converter did not fix. A ThermoLab shop’s UK three-pin claim does not copy onto the amazon.co.uk page.

Chair, headcount, and when to look at a cabin

Which? expects a chair and a mat, because you sit in the cloth. Runitude includes a chair and two mats. CHILLZ, the ThermoLab pop-up, MQFORU, BioGlow and both SereneLife listings name a chair. Reviews still call some seats hard or low, so included is not comfortable. CONLONS lists a portable chair. WILLOWYBE does not list one. A 145 cm tent is one seat in practice. Leave this set for timber, a fixed heater, or a wood stove. Planning Portal Class E allows a detached outbuilding in England only when height, boundary, coverage and siting all pass. Flats, listed buildings and much designated land do not qualify. LABC treats a detached building of 15 m² or under, with nobody sleeping in it, as normally exempt from building regulations, while Part P still covers the electrics. BS 7671 Section 703 applies to a sauna room, not a bedroom pop-up. Call a professional for a cabin heater, listed land, more than 15 m², or any wood stove.

Common questions

Is a sauna house on amazon.co.uk a timber cabin?
In this comparison, no. The rows are fabric steam tents, the CONLONS infrared room at £219.99, and the WILLOWYBE outdoor shell at £217.00, from £109.00 upward. A timber cabin is planning and an electrician. Which? prices infrared cabins well above these tents.
Is 1,000–1,600 W safe on a normal UK socket?
Those generators are roughly 4–7 A at 230 V. A 13 A BS 1363 socket can take that only if the tent is the only load. Do not use a coiled reel or share the socket with a kettle. A missing plug, as on SereneLife B0BQ3SNQ2V, is a separate fault.
What do you do with a listing that prints both 1,200 W and 10 kW?
Treat the kilowatt lines as a contradiction. CHILLZ states 1,200 W and also prints 1,200 kW and 10 kW. Ten kilowatts is not a tent on a 13 A plug. SereneLife’s pop-up clashes too, with 1,000 W in the title and 1,600 W in a bullet. Keep a listing that states one wattage.
How do you tell a two-person title from a one-person tent?
Read the reviews and the height. Both SereneLife titles say two people, and UK reviews split between couples who fit and buyers who say one person only. On the £199.99 model the booklet is reported as saying one person. A pop-up around 145 cm is a single seat in practice. WILLOWYBE’s four-person line is a shell you furnish yourself.
When is the outdoor WILLOWYBE shell the wrong buy?
It is the wrong buy when you wanted a plug-in tent, or a room in a flat. At £217.00 it is a 180 × 180 × 200 cm outdoor shell with a smoke outlet and no generator, stove or stones listed. A UK review says the stove is extra. It suits you only if that stove and an outdoor site are already the plan.
