Smart plug energy monitoring: which listings meter

Updated: October 2026

You want to see what the dehumidifier or the PC actually draws, and the cheapest familiar name in the basket is a Tapo P100 that never claimed a meter. This page stays on that one question for the eight listings in the [Wi-Fi socket comparison](/hub/sockets-and-extension-leads/wifi-socket). Prices and bullets are from the amazon.co.uk files dated 15 October 2026. Peter F. did not calibrate any plug against a supplier meter. A qualifying purchase can earn a commission at no extra cost to you. A phone graph is a comparison you can glance at. It is not the bill.

Which listings in this set claim a meter

ANTELA, at £15.99 and £27.99, shows use after one hour in Smart Life. QUEENWEN at £24.98 says day, week, and month, and the pack size is unresolved. UPXNBOR at £13.88 says real-time consumption. NOUS A10 at £24.99 says current use and history in the NOUS app. Both Tapo P100 packs leave energy off the bullets. TP-Link’s UK FAQ says the P100 does not monitor energy, and points that job at the P110 and P115, which are not rows here. A 4-pack review that mentions tracking is not a spec. The BG plate has no energy line. If the graph is the reason you are buying, read the skip line on best Wi-Fi socket UK.

What the number is allowed to do

Use the figure to compare two appliances on the same plug. It will not tell you what to pay the supplier. The standing charge and the tariff are not inside the plug. Which? says plug-in monitors need context. Which? did not score these ASINs. Do not paste a percentage onto these listings. A TP-Link FAQ’s 3 to 5 percent line is about Kasa HS110 and HS300, which are different products. ANTELA’s data appears after one hour, so a five-minute test can look empty. UPXNBOR has two stop reports, at about 30 days and nine months. On NOUS, one reviewer could not change a 3 W auto-off, so a camera never finished charging.

Apps and paid screens

The ANTELA 2-pack bullet says no paid subscription. One review says anything beyond a power snapshot costs £18 a year. Both statements are in the file. Open the energy screen before you rely on a year of history. QUEENWEN’s bullets are silent on a fee. One review mentions a subscription. That is one review, not a tariff. NOUS keeps history in NOUS Smart Home, not Smart Life. A Tapo login will not show an ANTELA graph. If the fee is unacceptable, return the plug. Form, band, and load sit on the buying guide.

If you need a meter and you were looking at a P100

The P100 is a remote switch with schedules. It is the wrong listing when the only question is watts. Buying another P100 will repeat the gap. Inside this table, use ANTELA, QUEENWEN, UPXNBOR, or NOUS. The BG plate does not graph the circuit. Do not stack a plug-in monitor in one of its outlets. Wait out the hour on an ANTELA, and treat the number as a comparison. The bill still belongs to the supplier’s meter.

Common questions

Does the Tapo P100 in this set measure watts?
No. Neither the 2-pack nor the 4-pack prints an energy bullet, and TP-Link’s UK FAQ says the P100 does not support energy monitoring. One 4-pack review mentions tracking. That is not the specification. Schedules and away mode are what those listings sell.
Which of these listings claim a graph?
ANTELA, after one hour, on both the 2-pack and the 4-pack. QUEENWEN, by day, week, and month, with the pack count unresolved. UPXNBOR, as real-time use. NOUS, as current use, daily totals, and history. The BG plate does not claim a graph.
How accurate is that graph?
These listings do not say. Do not apply the 3 to 5 percent remark TP-Link makes about Kasa HS110 and HS300 plugs. Which? says plug-in monitors need context and that many smart plugs have no screen. Use the number to compare appliances, not to audit a bill.
Will I have to pay monthly to see it?
The ANTELA 2-pack bullet says no paid subscription. One review says a fuller chart is £18 a year and that a basic power figure is free. QUEENWEN’s bullets are silent, and one review mentions a subscription. Check the live app screen. This page does not confirm either fee.
Can I use it to check a bill?
No. The figure, when the listing claims one, is a reading at that socket. It leaves out the standing charge, the tariff, and every other circuit. It can show that a heater dwarfs a lamp. It cannot replace the supplier’s meter.
Does the BG socket meter the plate?
No. The 822/HC-01 listing has no energy line. It is a 13 A double on 2.4 GHz, with a 25 mm box and a three-year warranty. If a watt graph is the whole point, this plate is the wrong row.
Why does ANTELA say the figure appears after an hour?
That delay is in the bullet on both ANTELA packs. A short test can show nothing and still match the listing. The 2-pack review that describes a free snapshot and a paid chart is a separate limit. Wait the hour, then look at what the app actually unlocks.
