Makita 2712 blade size: the 2 mm body limit checked

Updated: 22 October 2026

You own a Makita 2712, a Metabo TKHS 315, or a bench you are about to measure, and a listing says the disc fits. Makita 2712 blade size is not settled by a compatibility bullet. The manual's diameter, bore, maximum body thickness, and minimum kerf outrank a line that names the model. In this set the Trend and BGS plate fields are 2.2 mm, while the 2712 manual allows a body of 2 mm or less. This page is a machine match, not a brand ranking. 315 mm and 30 mm, not 305 mm

A 315 mm blade and a 30 mm arbor are the class for a Makita 2712 or a Metabo TKHS 315 when the manual says so. A 305 mm blade is a different disc, even when both are called twelve-inch and the bore is also 30 mm. A 25.4 mm bore will not drop onto a 30 mm arbor. A fixed reducing ring only makes a bore smaller, and only when the saw maker allows it. It does not open a bore, and it does not turn 305 mm into 315 mm. Body thickness, kerf, and marked speed are still separate checks. If the paperwork is missing, do not trust a line that says the disc fits many saws.

Makita 2712

The Makita 2712 manual states a 30 mm arbor, a 315 mm blade, a body of 2 mm or less, and a kerf of 2.8 mm or more. No-load speed is 2,950 /min at 50 Hz and 3,400 /min at 60 Hz. UK mains are 50 Hz, so use 2,950 against the blade's marked maximum. The UK product page prints a single 3,400 /min. Do not average the two. The Trend amazon rows put item thickness at 2.2 mm and kerf at 3.2 mm. The BGS 3957 bullets state a 2.2 mm plate and a 3.0 mm cutting width. Those kerfs clear 2.8 mm. The 2.2 mm plate does not. Fitting belongs on the how to fit page only after the plate passes the manual.

Metabo TKHS 315 C

The Metabo TKHS 315 C manual states a 315 mm blade, a 30 mm hole, a cutting width greater than 2.6 mm, a body of 2.3 mm or less, and a riving knife of 2.5 mm. Speed is 2,778, 2,980, or 2,950 /min at 50 Hz, depending on the version. A Trend plate of 2.2 mm sits inside that 2.3 mm limit, and a 3.2 mm kerf sits above 2.6 mm, so the 2.5 mm knife sits between them. The BGS 3.0 mm width also clears 2.6 mm. For Metabo the 2.2 mm field is inside the body limit. For Makita the same field is outside it.

When the listing leaves the plate blank

Draper 24969, 25782, and 25873 state 315 mm and 30 mm, then leave plate, kerf, hook, and rpm blank on amazon. You cannot check them against the Makita 2 mm limit or the Metabo 2.3 mm limit from those fields alone. Draper's own site states a 3.2 mm kerf and 4,200 rpm for 24969 and 25873. That is Draper's page, not the amazon row. The BGS 4,200 rpm mark sits above the Makita 50 Hz speed and still does not excuse a 2.2 mm plate on a 2712. Who should skip a blank row is on the best 315mm blade page. The wider checklist is on the buying guide. Measure the plate before the nut goes on if the listing leaves it blank.

Common questions

Does a fits Makita 2712 line settle the fit?
No. The Trend bullets name that saw, and the Makita 2712 manual still limits body thickness to 2 mm or less. The Trend and BGS plate fields in this set are 2.2 mm. Read the manual's diameter, bore, body, kerf, and speed lines beside the listing. A named model is a starting point, not a pass.
What body thickness does the 2712 manual allow?
The manual allows a blade body of 2 mm or less, with a kerf of 2.8 mm or more, on a 315 mm disc with a 30 mm arbor. A 2.2 mm plate fails that body line even when a 3.2 mm or 3.0 mm kerf clears 2.8 mm. The kerf check and the plate check are separate.
What does the Metabo TKHS 315 C allow for plate, kerf, and the knife?
The manual table allows a body of 2.3 mm or less, a cutting width greater than 2.6 mm, and a riving knife of 2.5 mm, on a 315 mm blade with a 30 mm hole. A 2.2 mm plate and a 3.2 mm kerf put that 2.5 mm knife between plate and kerf. That is the pair with numbers in this set, not a blanket fit for every disc.
Which rpm do you use for a Makita 2712 in the UK, 2,950 or 3,400?
Use 2,950 /min from the manual's 50 Hz line. UK supply is 50 Hz. The UK product page's single 3,400 /min figure matches the manual's 60 Hz line and should not be averaged with 2,950. The blade's marked maximum must be at or above the spindle speed you actually run.
Is the BGS 4,200 rpm mark high enough for these benches?
Yes against the Makita 50 Hz figure and against the Metabo 50 Hz speeds in the manual. That does not clear the Makita 2 mm body limit when the plate field is 2.2 mm. Rpm is one gate. Plate thickness is another.
