Fireproof safe or fireproof bag

Updated: 17 October 2026

You are looking at a steel cupboard with a keypad and the word fireproof, and the only soft thing in the photographs is a document pouch. A fireproof safe or a fireproof bag is that fork. Four listings name a test on a chest. Five put the fire object in a bag, a lining, or a phrase. A bag can still be worth having. It is not UL 72, and it is not EN 1047-1. Prices are on the [fireproof safe comparison](/hub/safes-and-secure-storage/fireproof-safe). The criteria sit on the [fireproof safe buying guide](/hub/safes-and-secure-storage/fireproof-safe/sub/fireproof-safe-buying-guide). Products Compared editorial team, 16 October 2026. No laboratory fire test. A qualifying purchase can earn us a commission at no extra cost to you.

A named test on the chest

A named test means a class or a UL classification, a time, and a temperature, printed for the chest rather than for an accessory. The Amazon Basics FP1401M prints UL 72 Class 350 for 30 minutes at 843.3°C. Class 350 holds the interior to 177°C so paper can survive the labelled period. The Master Lock L1200 and the LCHW20101 are UL classified for 30 minutes at 843°C, and both add an ETL media line. The Amazon Basics page does not. The Master Lock FPW082FTCML is the one-hour chest: UL classified for 1 hour at 927°C, ETL verified for 12 cm of water for 24 hours. Those four are the tested-chest side. None print EN 15659 or EN 1047-1. Which job each listing fits is on best fireproof safe UK.

A bag, a lining, or a phrase

The other five listings, about £68 to £124, do not put a class on the body. The Brihard at £67.99 sells a money bag with a 6-lever cupboard and prints no UL or EN class on the steel. The attribute says the body is not water resistant, while a bullet calls the bag waterproof. The AltiKeep at £79.98 prints no UL or EN number, and UK reviews say the bag was missing or was A5. The ToruKeep pages put fire and water in a bag and a lining, or in “per UL standards” with no class, duration or certificate number. Anchoring is not a class. Calling the pouch UL 72 is the claim these pages do not support.

What you lose if the bag is not in the box

If the parcel can omit the bag, the fire claim can be omitted too. On a classified chest the sentence is on the body. On the AltiKeep listing, UK reviews say the pouch was missing or was A5. The Consumer Rights Act 2015 covers a missing bag. It does not paint a UL class onto the steel. The Brihard body is listed as not water resistant, while the bag is called waterproof. If the bag is in a drawer, the cupboard is back to a lock. A4 and deeds are on fireproof safe for documents. Bolts are not Class 350.

What neither side is

Neither side is an insurer’s cash safe. EN 1143-1 and EN 14450 are not printed here. A bolt kit resists a casual lift. It is not an attack grade. None of the nine print EN 1047-1. The DLA-FH-90 at £123.99 still has no class. Choose the tested chest when the papers need a time and a temperature on the body. Choose the cupboard for bolts or a keypad, and check the pouch on delivery. This set does not hold both a long fire line and a burglary grade.

Common questions

Is a fireproof bag a fireproof safe?
No. A bag is a pouch. A safe, in the sense that matters here, is a body with a named test, a time and a temperature. The Brihard and AltiKeep listings put the fire object in a money bag or a document pouch. The steel can still lock. It does not inherit UL 72 from the pouch. If the bag is missing, the fire claim is missing with it.
What does “per UL standards” without a class mean?
On the ToruKeep DLA-FH-90 it means a full fire rating if you anchor the safe with the included screws, per UL standards. No class, no minutes and no certificate number are printed. That is not UL 72 Class 350. Anchoring instructions are not a duration. Treat the phrase as unclassed.
Do any of these listings print EN 1047-1?
No. None of the nine print EN 1047-1 or EN 15659. LFS 30 and LFS 60 are light paper tests. EN 1047-1 adds a drop and a cool-down. The four chests that name a test name a UL line, half an hour at 843°C or one hour at 927°C, or Class 350. A UL line is not a quiet way of saying EN 1047-1.
If the bag is missing, what fire claim is left?
On a bag-only listing, nothing you can point to on the page. AltiKeep reviews that report a missing pouch, or an A5 pouch, leave a keypad cupboard. Go back to the seller with photographs. Do not promote the steel to a tested chest because the advertisement said fireproof.
Does a higher price in the steel group buy a certificate?
Not in this set. The Brihard at £67.99, the AltiKeep at £79.98, and the ToruKeep listings from £98.79 to £123.99 all lack a printed class. The dearest uses “per UL standards” and still gives no class or time. Extra litres or a keypad are not a certificate. The one-hour chest at £271.31 is buying the longer UL line, not an EN grade.
Where do I go if I wanted a bolted cupboard anyway?
The Brihard, if you want a 6-lever key, four bolts and a 20 litre cupboard, and you will treat the money bag as a bonus. The AltiKeep, if you want a keypad and a key override, and you will check that the pouch arrived. Those cupboards do not print a fire sentence on the body. If an insurer has named an attack grade, neither is that grade.
