Burg-Wächter safe buying guide

Updated: October 2026

You are comparing a Burg-Wächter safe on amazon.co.uk because a passport, a will, or a little cash feels exposed in a drawer. This set runs from the FP 22 K at £42.00 to the Favor S5 K at £80.50, and one title does not match its lock. The [Burg-Wächter safe comparison](/hub/safes-and-secure-storage/burg-waechter-safe) holds the grid. This page is the order of questions. The Products Compared editorial team wrote it on 16 October 2026. We did not run a fire test or an attack test. A qualifying purchase can earn us a commission at no extra cost to you.

Our top picks

On this page

Start with the job, not the badge

A stated fire time for paper points at the FP 22 K (B07RNGPQMR), the top pick for that job: 30 minutes up to 1,093°C, 5.6 litres, and Not Water Resistant. Burg-Wächter ties the fire claim to UL 72. The amazon.co.uk listing does not print it, and UL 72 is not EN 1047-1. A named insurer grade points at none of these four. The fork sits on fireproof box or furniture safe. A Favor is the cupboard job, with an indicative £1,000 cash and £10,000 valuables. S3 and S5 are size steps, not EN 14450 S1 and S2.

Read the lock line before the title

Favor S3 K (B00J95WMYE) is the trap. The title says an electronic combination lock. Lock Type says Key, and the bullets say a double-bit lock and two keys. The electronic model is Favor S3 E (B00J95WM6C) at £57.99, the best value when you want a code. One UK review says the emergency key is too thin to open the flap. Favor S5 K is a key safe. Control Type says Button control, so do not treat that as a keypad. The shortlist is on the best Burg-Wächter safe in this set. Until the S3 K title and the lock field agree, skip that ASIN.

What the £1,000 line is

The Favor UK page’s £1,000 cash and £10,000 valuables line is maker wording, not a promise your insurer will pay those sums. These listings do not print EN 1143-1, EN 14450, or Sold Secure. Secured by Design puts S1 around £2,000 cash and £20,000 valuables, and S2 around £4,000 and £40,000. De Raat adds Grade 0 near £6,000 and £60,000, and underwriters differ. What binds you is the contract, and the Consumer Rights Act 2015 if the goods are not as described.

Sizes that disagree

Do not average conflicting figures. The FP 22 K is 5.6 litres, 9 kg, outside 41 × 28 × 16 cm. Favor S3 K lists 10.2 litres, 310 × 200 × 200 mm in a bullet, 20 × 31 × 20 cm in the attributes, and 4.39 kg against a 24.1 kg bullet. The UK table says 5.0 kg. Favor S5 K is 18.6 litres at £80.50. The S3 K and S5 K share 4.4 from 654. Count 654 once.

When to leave this set

Leave when the insurer has named EN 14450 or EN 1143-1, when the contents are a firearm or a shotgun, or when you cannot fix the box. New gun cabinets are expected to meet BS 7558:1992. Fixing steps are on how to bolt down a Burg-Wächter safe. If the safe is already locked and the code or keys have failed, do not force the lock.

Common questions

Is the Favor S3 K on amazon.co.uk a key safe or an electronic safe?
The title says electronic and the lock field says key. The bullets describe a double-bit lock and two keys, not a keypad. The UK Favor table and safe.co.uk both treat the S3 K as mechanical. Buy the S3 E (B00J95WM6C) if you want a PIN. Treat B00J95WMYE as a key safe only after you re-read the lock line on the day you order.
Does £1,000 on the Favor page mean the insurer will pay that?
No. Burg-Wächter’s UK page gives an indicative £1,000 cash and £10,000 valuables. Your policy sets the sum, and these listings do not print EN 14450, EN 1143-1, or Sold Secure. Secured by Design’s bands for S1 and S2 sit higher. Ask the insurer if the schedule already names a grade.
Is S3 an EN 14450 security level?
No. On these Favor listings, S3 and S5 are size steps, not EN 14450 levels S1 and S2. None of the four ASINs shows an EN 14450 certificate. Reading “S3” as “S2” is how an £52 box starts to look like a graded safe.
Which listing states a fire time?
Only the FP 22 K, at 30 minutes up to 1,093°C. The three Favor listings do not state a fire time. The FP 22 K is also Not Water Resistant, so a fire sentence is not a promise about fire-service water. The maker’s UL 72 wording is not printed on the amazon.co.uk page.
Why do the S3 K and S5 K show the same review count?
The files share 4.4 from 654 reviews, the same Best Sellers Rank in DIY & Tools, and the same review text. That is one sample on two ASINs, not 1,308 reviews. The S3 E has its own 4.3 from 832, and the FP 22 K has 4.4 from 1,548. Do not add the two 654 lines.
