Grow tent or mushroom grow box
Updated: 21 October 2026
You searched once and got black fabric tents next to white mushroom boxes. A grow tent or mushroom grow box is not one product with two lids. In this amazon.co.uk set, four listings are reflective tents for green plants, and two are small chambers aimed at fungi. They should not share a star ranking. The [grow box comparison](/hub/raised-beds-greenhouses-and-compost/grow-box) keeps both types on one table so you can see the prices. This page says when to pick a tent, when to pick a chamber, and when neither row is the tool. Figures are from the listings read on 19 October 2026. Peter F. ran no lab trial of either chamber. A qualifying purchase through our links can earn us a commission at no extra cost to you.

Two tools in one search
A tent here is a collapsible cabinet: metal or alloy poles, dark cloth, mylar inside, zips, a window, a floor tray, and sleeves for ducts. You hang a lamp you buy separately and you move air with a fan you also buy separately. Mars Hydro and VIVOSUN are that kind of shell. The 60 cm Mars Hydro is £56.99. The VIVOSUN is £84.99. The 120 cm Mars Hydro is £119.99. The Oairgico is a much smaller 55 × 40 × 65 cm tent at £42.90.
A chamber in this set is a box that claims to manage moisture and fresh air for mushrooms. MUALROUS, at £120.99 and 2.66 kg, says it has humidity control, two fans, a clear door, and a foldable body. BEIXIFO, at £317.13 and about 40 × 27 × 33 cm, says it has acrylic and tempered glass, an LCD, automatic humidity and spray, a fan, and a grow light with ten steps. GroCycle, a UK mushroom site, already separates a cheap plastic monotub from a grow tent. The grow box buying guide puts organism first for that reason. Stars do not cross the gap.
When a fabric tent fits
Choose a tent when the crop is herbs, chillies, tomatoes, or seedlings, and you are ready to add a lamp and an extract fan. The top pick for a fabric tent here is the 60 cm Mars Hydro, because nearly all of its saved review texts are from the United Kingdom. The VIVOSUN is the best value larger tent under £90, with a higher star line and very few saved UK texts.
The tent still arrives empty of light and air kit. Included lines name a tray and a window. UK Mars Hydro texts praise ports and a straightforward build, and they also report zips, light at vents, weak-feeling frames, and rust or peeling. Do not read “100% reflective” as a leak test we ran. The 55 cm Oairgico can cover seedlings or a countertop hydroponic unit. It is not a tomato tent. If you already know you want one of the tent rows, the best grow box page names who should take which ASIN.
When a mushroom chamber fits
Choose a chamber only when you are fruiting fungi and you want a box that claims a humidity path. MUALROUS names shiitake, oyster, enoki, and reishi, and it claims two fans and automatic humidity. There is no external size in the raw file and no amazon.co.uk star line, so you cannot tell whether it fits a shelf or whether the fans run. BEIXIFO is the one with a published footprint, roughly 39.9 × 26.7 × 33 cm and 6.35 kg, and a listing that describes spray cycles, air exchange, and a light you set on the LCD. It also shows 5.0 from two ratings and no review text. A bullet suggests a harvest in about seven days. That is a seller sentence, not a crop we timed.
Between the two, MUALROUS is the cheaper unproven box, and BEIXIFO is the expensive unproven box with a size you can at least measure against a worktop. Neither has written reviews in the files we saved, so this comparison will not say the humidity is automatic in practice. If you need a tent for green plants, skip both.
What this comparison does not include
A monotub is the ordinary low-cost mushroom chamber: a plastic tub, holes for air, and a substrate you prepare yourself. GroCycle describes that tub, and also lists a grow tent as a different option when you want shelves and more climate gear. No monotub ASIN is in this six-listing set. Buying the Mars Hydro tent does not give you a monotub, and buying BEIXIFO does not give you a proven automatic version of one.
The 120 cm Mars Hydro review file repeats the 60 cm texts, so it is not extra proof of tent quality. If your question is really whether 60 cm fits the cupboard, that measurement belongs on the small-room grow tent page. If your question is how to pole a tent you have already bought, use the setup page. This page stops at the tool.
Lawful fungi versus Class A
Culinary names on a listing are not a permission slip. Oyster, shiitake, and enoki on the MUALROUS page are not a fungus that contains psilocin. The Drugs Act 2005, section 21, classifies a fungus containing psilocin as Class A. Growing that fungus in a chamber, a tub, or a tent is not a hobby variant of this shopping guide.
Cannabis is a separate rule. The Misuse of Drugs Act 1971, section 6, makes cultivation unlawful unless regulations allow it, and the Misuse of Drugs Regulations 2001, regulation 12, require a Home Office licence. A reflective tent does not create that licence. Peter F. compared listing text, star lines, and these public UK sources. If the crop would be cannabis or a psilocin fungus, stop. The hardware does not make it lawful.
Common questions
Can I fruit mushrooms in a fabric grow tent?
You can put a tub inside a tent, but these tents are built as lamp cabinets for green plants, with vents and zips that UK reviewers already find leaky. GroCycle treats a monotub and a tent as different mushroom tools. The chambers in this set, MUALROUS and BEIXIFO, are the listings that claim humidity and fans. Those claims have no written UK reviews here. A tent is the wrong default if humidity is the whole job.
What is the difference between a monotub and BEIXIFO?
A monotub is a simple plastic fruiting tub. It is not sold as one of these six ASINs. BEIXIFO is a £317.13 box that claims automatic humidification, spray, a fan, an LCD, and a grow light, at about 40 × 27 × 33 cm. It has 5.0 from two ratings and no review text. You are paying for those claims without a written check. A monotub remains the cheaper manual route GroCycle describes, outside this set.
Do mushroom boxes include a grow light?
BEIXIFO’s bullets describe a grow light with ten brightness steps and red, blue, or mixed colour. MUALROUS does not list a lamp in the bullets we saved. It lists humidity, two fans, and a clear door. The fabric tents do not include a lamp at all. A light on a mushroom listing is still a seller claim until someone reviews it. Two star ratings are not that review.
Why are mushroom boxes so expensive?
BEIXIFO is £317.13 because the listing stacks an LCD, spray, a fan, and a light into a small acrylic box. MUALROUS is £120.99, close to the 120 cm tent, with no size and no stars. Neither price is backed by written UK reviews in the files we saved. A fabric tent at £56.99 looks cheap beside them and still needs a lamp and a fan, so the tent’s true setup cost is higher than the shell. Expense is not evidence that the chamber works.
Is humidity automatic on MUALROUS?
The listing says the kit can monitor and adjust humidity, and that two fans supply fresh air. The raw file has no star line and no UK review text, so that sentence is untested here. There is also no footprint, so you cannot plan the shelf from the technical block. Confirm the live amazon.co.uk page before you rely on the fans or the plug, which this file does not describe.
Are magic mushrooms legal to grow in a box?
No. A fungus containing psilocin is Class A under the Drugs Act 2005, section 21. A grow box, a monotub, or a tent does not change that. Oyster, shiitake, and enoki named on the MUALROUS listing are different organisms. This page will not explain how to grow a psilocin fungus. If that is the crop, do not buy the chamber for it.
