A Tefal tabletop grill is a mains electric appliance for a UK worktop. You are choosing among hinged contact grills, an open table plate, and a plancha. A plug for a UK socket has to be a BS 1363 plug. A plug on a travel adaptor is a reason to stop. Portion counts such as "up to 8" are maker claims, and plate-area fields sometimes disagree inside one listing. The [Tefal tabletop grill buying guide](/hub/portable-grills/tefal-tabletop-grill/sub/tefal-tabletop-grill-buying-guide) separates sensor, manual, open plate, and plancha before you use the prices below. The area field says 800 cm² and a features line says about 650 cm². The contact grills are the sensor models, the manual 3-in-1 XL, and the simpler. A thickness sensor with a doneness cue suits steak.

The best Tefal tabletop grills in detail

Tefal OptiGrill+ XL GC722D40

Rank 1

Tefal OptiGrill+ XL GC722D40

∼£130

Our view

The OptiGrill+ XL GC722D40 is listed at about £129.99 with a 2,180 W element, a 5.2 kg body, and indoor use. The star line is 4.7 from 2,766 reviews, the largest OptiGrill sample in this folder, and the rank line is number 4 in Electric Grills. Bullets describe nine programmes, a thickness sensor, and colour steps for rare, medium and well-done. The area field says 800 cm² while special features say about 650 cm², and two dimension lines are both present. UK reviews praise steak and easy plate removal, and they also say fat burns into the ridges and that the cord is short. The warranty field says two years, and the spare-parts field says 15 years. That 15-year line is parts availability, not a free repair. It is the top pick for a household that wants the largest sensor grill here and will wash the ridges after mince or bacon.

Pros

  • 4.7 from 2,766 UK reviews
  • Nine programmes and a colour doneness cue
  • Removable plates, dishwasher-safe in the bullets
  • About £129.99, below the smaller OptiGrill+ in this set

Cons

  • Area line clashes, 800 cm² and about 650 cm²
  • Grease in the ridges in UK reviews
  • Two different dimension lines
  • Short power cord in reviews

Best for: A household that wants the largest sensor grill in this set and will wash the ridges after mince or bacon

Less suitable: A buyer who needs the plate to open flat, or who will not pre-clean fatty residue

Common questions

How many programmes does the OptiGrill+ XL listing state?

The bullets say 9 cooking programmes. The special-features line says 9 presets plus 2 additional.

What cooking area is on the listing?

The cooking-surface field says 800 square centimetres. The special-features line says a non-stick surface of about 650 cm². Both figures stay. They are not averaged.

Does the listing say the parts are dishwasher-safe?

Yes. The bullets say the removable non-stick parts are dishwasher-safe. Included components lists grill plates. The body is not.

Tefal OptiGrill+ GC713D40

Rank 2

Tefal OptiGrill+ GC713D40

∼£156

Our view

The OptiGrill+ GC713D40 is listed at about £155.55, which is more than the XL in this same folder, with 2,000 W, 600 cm² and a 5 kg weight. The star line is 4.7 from 2,504 reviews. Bullets name six programmes, a thickness sensor and an LED level light, and they call the plates and drip tray dishwasher-safe. The configuration field says Cart and the method says roast, which does not match the title. The power-levels field says 1 while the bullets say four temperatures. UK reviews like the dishwasher plates and say you still choose the colour step yourself for medium-rare. The warranty field says a two-year guarantee. It suits someone who wants the smaller OptiGrill+ plate. It is the wrong row if the XL at about £129.99 already covers the job.

Pros

  • 4.7 from 2,504 reviews
  • Six named programmes and an LED cue
  • 600 cm² on one consistent area field
  • Plates and drip tray called dishwasher-safe

Cons

  • About £155.55, above the XL listing
  • Cart and roast fields clash with the title
  • Power-levels field says 1
  • No medium-rare step in reviewer descriptions

Best for: Someone who wants the smaller OptiGrill+ plate and will follow the colour lights rather than a single beep

Less suitable: A buyer who can use the XL listing at about £129.99 and wants the larger stated plate

Common questions

Which programmes does the listing name?

Burger, chicken, bacon, sausage, red meat and fish. The bullets also mention four temperature settings, while the power-levels field says 1.

Why does the configuration field say Cart?

The grill-configuration field says Cart and the cooking method says roast. The title and bullets describe an indoor contact grill, so those two fields clash with the product.

Is assembly required?

The listing says no. A UK review says the lid must be opened fully so the thickness setting can reset.

Tefal OptiGrill Elite GC750D40

Rank 3

Tefal OptiGrill Elite GC750D40

∼£199

Our view

The OptiGrill Elite GC750D40 is the dearest listing in this folder at about £198.80, with 2,000 W, a stated weight of 6.63 kg and a cooking area of 551 cm². The star line is 4.6 from 725 UK reviews. The special-features text lists 12 programmes, including four named vegetables, plus refill and Searing Boost. The model-name line says 5 portions. Included components lists a tray, and the highlight says the plates are dishwasher-safe. Reviews praise the sensor and the plates, and they also say panini can crisp before the programme ends. One review title flags a health and safety concern without describing it in the excerpt. The warranty field says two years. It suits a cook who wants vegetable programmes and a countdown and will keep the grill on the worktop.

Pros

  • 12 programmes, including vegetables
  • Digital countdown in the bullets
  • 4.6 from 725 reviews
  • Dishwasher-safe plates in the highlight

Cons

  • About £198.80, highest in the set
  • Area field is 551 cm²
  • 6.63 kg
  • Panini timing still needs watching, in reviews

Best for: A cook who wants vegetable programmes and a countdown, and who will keep the grill on the worktop

Less suitable: Someone who mainly needs a larger plate or a lower price

Tefal Giant Plancha CB631D10

Rank 4

Tefal Giant Plancha CB631D10

∼£91

Our view

The Giant Plancha CB631D10 is listed at about £91.49, 2,300 W and 3.2 kg, with five thermostat settings and a Resist+ non-stick surface. The manufacturer field reads Giant Plancha grill while the brand field says Tefal. There is no dimension or area figure, and no indoor or outdoor line. The star line is 4.6 from 336 reviews. Only one written review in the raw file is marked United Kingdom, and it says the plate heats quickly and cleans easily. Other-country reviews praise the width and also describe grease trapped around a plate that does not lift. The warranty field says limited warranty, with no duration. Rank is number 80 in Electric Grills. It suits someone who wants a wide open Tefal plate and accepts a thin UK review sample.

Pros

  • Five heat settings
  • 2,300 W at about £91.49
  • PFAS-free and PFOA-free fields
  • 3.2 kg, lighter than the OptiGrill bodies

Cons

  • No area or dimensions
  • Plate removal not stated
  • Review text is mostly not from the UK
  • Up to 12 people is only a bullet

Best for: Someone who wants a wide open Tefal plate with a thermostat, and who accepts a thin UK review sample

Less suitable: A buyer who wants a hinged lid, a sensor, or a stated cooking area

What does the coating field say?

Resist+ non-stick in the bullets. The material-free line says lead free, PFAS free and PFOA free. A plate area is not given.

Do the plates come off?

The bullets do not say the plate is removable. A French review in the file says the heating plate does not come off and grease sits in the groove.

Tefal Inicio Grill GC241D12

Rank 5

Tefal Inicio Grill GC241D12

∼£74

Our view

The Inicio GC241D12 is a meat and panini grill listed at about £73.79, 2,000 W, 3.9 kg, with dimensions 33.2 x 36.3 x 10.8 cm and a 90 cm cable. The settings field says 1. Special features mention a removable dishwasher-safe drip tray, and the material line says PTFE free. Bullets add vertical storage and a 15-year repairability line, which is parts availability, not a free repair. The star line is 4.5 from 12,222 reviews. In the raw file only two reviews are marked United Kingdom. One calls the plug dangerous because the cover came off. Other-country text likes the heat and dislikes fixed plates. The warranty field says limited warranty, with no duration. Rank is number 84 in Electric Grills. It suits a panini user who will inspect the plug first.

Pros

  • About £73.79 and 2,000 W
  • Vertical storage in the bullets
  • Removable drip tray
  • PTFE-free field

Cons

  • One heat setting
  • Plates not listed as removable
  • UK plug-cover review

Tefal SuperGrill 3-in-1 XL GC520DG1

Rank 6

Tefal SuperGrill 3-in-1 XL GC520DG1

∼£115

Our view

The SuperGrill 3-in-1 XL GC520DG1 is listed at about £114.99 with 2,200 W, three temperature settings and a bullet area of 800 cm². The item weight field is 3.18 kg and the dimensions are 37.8 x 43.7 x 17.5 cm. The star line is 4.4 from 146 UK reviews, a smaller sample than the OptiGrill+ models. Bullets describe contact, barbecue and oven positions, a plate lock, vertical storage, and dishwasher-safe plates and tray. Reviews like the size and the flat opening. They also report a one-sided hinge, a flimsy drip-tray lug, a plate that would not clip back, and one early failure with parts unavailable. The warranty field says only Limited. Manufacture year on the listing is 2025, origin China. It is the best value if you want a large manual plate that opens flat and you will check the hinge on arrival.

Pros

  • Three modes, including a 180 degree opening
  • About £114.99 with an 800 cm² bullet
  • Removable dishwasher-safe plates
  • 146 UK reviews, not a non-UK corpus

Cons

  • Lid balance complaints
  • No automatic doneness programmes
  • Warranty field says only Limited
  • One review reports a broken plate and no parts

Best for: A cook who wants a large manual plate that opens flat and will check the hinge on arrival

Less suitable: Someone who wants a beep for rare or medium, or a compact cupboard fit

Are the plates removable?

Yes. Included components list removable plates and an internal drip tray, and the bullets say both are dishwasher-safe.

Several of the 146 reviews say the lid sits heavy or wonky on one side. One review says a plate broke within two months and repair parts were not available.

Tefal EasyGrill table barbecue BG90C814

Rank 7

Tefal EasyGrill table barbecue BG90C814

∼£57

Our view

The EasyGrill BG90C814 is the cheapest listing here at about £57.10, with 2,300 W, a stated weight of 2.1 kg and an area field of 1,621.94 cm². Two dimension lines disagree. The bullets describe a stainless grille, an on/off switch, a water tray, up to two times less smoke, a two-year warranty and made in France. Recommended use says Outdoor and assembly says yes. The star line is 4.3 from 747, but the written reviews in the file are not a UK set. Those reviews like the power and dislike the missing thermostat. One says the element failed after about a week. Rank is number 108 in Electric Grills. The less-smoke line is the listing's claim. This page does not call the EasyGrill smokeless or a health grill.

Pros

  • About £57.10, lowest price in the set
  • 2,300 W and a large stated area
  • Water tray included
  • Bullets state a two-year warranty

Cons

  • Recommended use says Outdoor
  • On/off only
  • Review text is not a UK sample
  • Two dimension lines

Best for: A buyer who wants the cheapest open electric plate in this set and has read the outdoor line

Less suitable: A flat cook who wants an indoor sensor grill with a doneness light

Common questions

Does the listing say indoor or outdoor?

The bullets describe an on/off button. The power-levels field says 1. A less-smoke claim of up to two times is tied to the water tray. That is the listing's claim.

Are the written reviews from the UK?

The star line is 4.3 from 747. The raw review text is almost entirely from other countries, so that count is not a UK-only sample.

Tefal OptiGrill One GC7P08G0

Rank 8

Tefal OptiGrill One GC7P08G0

∼£92

Our view

The OptiGrill One GC7P08G0 is listed at about £91.63 with 2,000 W, 600 cm², a 5.44 kg weight and dimensions of 22.7 x 40.4 x 22.7 cm. The star line is 4.1 from 19 UK reviews, the smallest sample in the folder. Bullets describe automatic programmes, a thickness sensor, manual mode up to 270°C, and a removable drip tray. Special features add keep-warm and a removable surface. Reviews that like it call it smaller than an OptiGrill+ XL and easy to unclip. Several say the panel is German. Two say it tripped the household supply. There is no warranty duration on the listing. Origin is China. Rank is number 70 in Electric Grills. Empty plates on that high manual setting are a bad idea. Stop if a breaker trips.

Pros

  • About £91.63 for a sensor grill
  • 600 cm² in a smaller body than the XL
  • Removable drip tray listed
  • UK plug reported in reviews

Cons

  • 4.1 from only 19 reviews
  • German button labels
  • Tripping reports
  • No warranty duration on the listing

Best for: A one- or two-person cook who checks the panel language and tests the circuit once, with a return route ready

Less suitable: Anyone who needs an English panel out of the box, or a large review sample

Common questions

The bullets say an adjustable temperature up to 270°C, plus automatic programmes and a manual countdown. Empty plates on a high manual setting are a bad idea.

Are the controls in English?

UK reviews say the buttons arrived in German, with an English sticker in the booklet. Reviewers also say the plug is a UK plug.

Does it stay on the circuit?

Two of the 19 UK reviews say it tripped the power. One says a replacement did the same and then ran. Stop if a breaker trips, and do not open the appliance.

How we compared

Eight amazon.co.uk listings were scored from the staged files. Prices, stars, and review counts are those UK lines. Scores are editorial, out of 100. They are not a laboratory test and not a Which? score. The four weights below sum to 100. Deductions apply for clashing area or dimension fields, hinge or plug complaints, a non-UK review text under a UK star line, tripping reports, a German control panel, and an outdoor recommended-use line on a tabletop listing.

1

Stars

49%

The amazon.co.uk star rating times 10 is the largest block, up to 47 points before this weight is scaled. A 4.7 contributes 47 on that block.

1,500 or more reviews scores 15; 700 to 1,499 scores 13; 300 to 699 scores 10; 100 to 299 scores 7; under 20 scores 2. A non-UK written sample is then deducted.

Tefal tabletop grill buying guide

Choose the mechanism first, then whether the plates and tray come off, then the weight and the review sample. Prices below are the eight amazon.co.uk shelves in the staged files.

What is a Tefal tabletop grill?

A Tefal tabletop grill in this set is a mains electric appliance for a UK worktop. The eight amazon.co.uk listings split into hinged contact grills, one open table plate, and one plancha. The contact grills are the OptiGrill sensor models, the manual SuperGrill 3-in-1 XL, and the simpler Inicio. The EasyGrill BG90 is the open table plate. The Giant Plancha CB631D10 is the open plancha. You choose the mechanism before any badge. A thickness sensor with a doneness cue suits steak.

Best for

  • Weeknight cooks who want a doneness cue, and the XL when the plate must feed more than two
  • A cook who wants one box to press, open flat, and broil, and will check the hinge
  • A panini user who accepts fixed plates and will inspect the plug before the first cook

Not ideal for

  • Anyone who needs the plate area to be a single agreed figure
  • A buyer who will treat a non-UK review corpus as British opinion
  • Indoor use of the EasyGrill, whose recommended-use field says Outdoor

Mistakes to avoid

  1. 1

    Trusting a portion count

Lines such as up to 8, up to 12, or 4 to 5 people are maker claims. They are not a measured plate. The Elite area field is 551 cm². The plancha has no area figure at all.

  2. 2

    Averaging two area figures

The OptiGrill+ XL cooking-surface field says 800 cm² and the features line says about 650 cm². Both stay. Averaging them would hide the listing you are about to buy.

  3. 3

Reading the EasyGrill as an indoor health grill

Recommended use says Outdoor. The on/off plate and the water tray are what the listing describes. Up to two times less smoke is the listing's claim. It is not a smokeless result, and this page does not call any model the healthiest.

What to weigh up

Mechanism, plates, and tray

High

The job decides the mechanism before the price. Thickness-sensor programmes suit a doneness cue. A manual thermostat suits a cook who will watch the food. A single on/off plate is the EasyGrill. An open plancha is the Giant Plancha. On file the OptiGrill+ names six programmes, the XL names nine, the Elite names 12 including vegetables, and the OptiGrill One adds a manual mode to 270°C. The SuperGrill has three temperature settings and three positions: contact, barbecue, and oven.

Weight, UK evidence, plug, and price

High

Item weights on file run from 2.1 kg on the EasyGrill and 3.18 kg on the SuperGrill field up to 6.63 kg on the Elite. The XL is 5.2 kg, the OptiGrill+ is 5 kg, the OptiGrill One is 5.44 kg, the Inicio is 3.9 kg, and the plancha is 3.2 kg. XL contact grills draw cupboard complaints in UK reviews. A lighter body is not a reason to ignore an outdoor line or a missing area. Prefer a UK review sample.

Which option suits you?

Three typical situations, each with a recommendation from this comparison.

Weeknight cooks who want a doneness cue

You want a thickness sensor and a colour step for steak, and the plate has to feed more than two. The OptiGrill+ XL is about £129.99, with 4.7 from 2,766 reviews and nine programmes. The area field says 800 cm² and a features line says about 650 cm². Wash the ridges after mince or bacon.

One box that presses and opens flat

You want contact, barbecue, and oven positions in one manual grill, without automatic programmes. The SuperGrill 3-in-1 XL is about £114.99, 2,200 W, with an 800 cm² bullet and 4.4 from 146 UK reviews. Check the hinge on arrival. The warranty field says only Limited.

Panini first, if the plates can stay fixed

You want a slim one-setting press and you will inspect the plug before the first cook. The Inicio is about £73.79 and 2,000 W. The listing does not call the plates removable. Only two reviews in the raw file are marked United Kingdom, and one says the plug cover came off.

Common questions about Tefal tabletop grills

Which Tefal tabletop grill is the top pick here?
The top pick in this set is the Tefal OptiGrill+ XL GC722D40, about £129.99, with 4.7 from 2,766 amazon.co.uk reviews. It is a 2,180 W indoor sensor grill with nine programmes and a colour cue from rare to well done. Both area figures stay: 800 cm² and about 650 cm². It suits a household that will wash grease out of the ridges. Skip it if you need the plate to open flat.
How much does a Tefal tabletop grill cost in this set?
On these eight amazon.co.uk shelves, prices run from about £57.10 to about £198.80. Entry is the EasyGrill at about £57.10 and the Inicio at about £73.79. The mid band runs from about £91.49 to about £129.99, including the SuperGrill at about £114.99 and the OptiGrill+ XL. The OptiGrill+ is about £155.55 and the Elite is about £198.80. These are the staged amazon.co.uk figures. Tefal's own shop showed higher prices for the XL and the Elite.
What should I check before I buy a Tefal tabletop grill?
Check the mechanism first: sensor programmes, a manual thermostat, a single on/off plate, or an open plancha. Then check whether the plates and the drip tray are listed as removable and dishwasher-safe. The body is not. Read the weight if the grill has to live in a cupboard. Prefer a review sample that is actually from the UK. A 2,000 to 2,300 W grill needs the maker's fuse, normally 13 A, in a BS 1363 plug.
Can I put a Tefal tabletop grill in the dishwasher?
Only the parts the listing calls dishwasher-safe. On the OptiGrill+ XL, the OptiGrill+, the Elite, and the SuperGrill, that means the removable plates and, where stated, the drip tray. Tefal's OptiGrill FAQ says to cool the grill for about 45 minutes, not to immerse the body, and to soak and scrub the plates before the dishwasher if preheat smokes. Do not scrape non-stick with metal. The Inicio listing names a removable drip tray, not removable plates.
Is the EasyGrill an indoor health grill?
No. The EasyGrill BG90 recommended-use field says Outdoor. It is a 2,300 W on/off table barbecue at about £57.10, with a water tray. The listing's line of up to two times less smoke is the maker's claim, not a smokeless result, and this page does not call it a health grill. The written reviews in the file are almost all from outside the UK. London Fire Brigade says not to use an outdoor barbecue indoors.
Is a Tefal tabletop grill the same as a teppanyaki grill?
No. A Tefal tabletop grill in this set is mostly a hinged contact grill, plus one open EasyGrill and one Giant Plancha. A teppanyaki grill is an open electric plate. If you want that open plate rather than a sensor lid, use the teppanyaki grill comparison. The prices and review lines there are a different set. The Giant Plancha here is the open Tefal plate in this folder, at about £91.49, with no area figure on the listing.
Is the 15-year line a warranty?
No. Tefal UK states a two-year domestic guarantee. The 15-year line is a parts-availability commitment from 2022, not a free 15-year repair. The OptiGrill+ XL and the Elite warranty fields say two years. The SuperGrill warranty field says only Limited. The OptiGrill One listing has no warranty duration. If the breaker trips, the plug cover comes off, or smoke comes from inside the housing, call the seller or Tefal on 0345 602 1454. Do not open the appliance.

Our verdict

The OptiGrill+ XL GC722D40 is the top pick: 4.7 from 2,766 reviews, nine programmes, and a colour doneness cue, at about £129.99, which is below the smaller OptiGrill+ in this set. Keep both area figures, 800 cm² and about 650 cm². The SuperGrill 3-in-1 XL is the best value at about £114.99, the strongest price-to-function result among listings whose written reviews are from the United Kingdom, below the sensor models. It opens flat and it has no automatic programmes. The EasyGrill and the Inicio are cheaper, and they lose that place because the written reviews are mostly not from the UK.
