Camping gas griddle

Updated: 16.10.2026

You are packing a car for a pitch, or clearing a balcony table, and the listing says portable. Then you read 16 kg, or 23 kg, and the boot maths changes. A camping gas griddle is a weight and a fuel you can carry, not a word in the title. Two units on the [gas griddle comparison](/hub/portable-grills/gas-griddle) are light enough to discuss. The Products Compared editorial team used these amazon.co.uk listings on 15 October 2026. The two-hour figure below is arithmetic, not a timed cook. What portable weighs

As a rule of thumb from the weights alone, the ROVSUN at 7.1 kg is the lightest full griddle, and the Othello at 10.5 kg is a two-handed table unit. From 15 kg up you are in car-to-table territory. The open Onlyfire is 15.5 kg, and United Kingdom reviews already complain about that carry. The cart is 23.4 kg and 98.5 cm tall. Wheels do not make 23.4 kg a pitch stove. The two worth packing are the 7.1 kg propane tabletop and the 10.5 kg cartridge plancha. They are not interchangeable. One expects a cylinder and a regulator the listing has not fully named. The other expects a Campingaz cartridge sold separately.

The cartridge plancha

The Othello is the cartridge plancha: 2.8 kW, 10.5 kg, a 30 x 45 cm plate, and a CV 470 Plus that is not included. Assembly is listed as not required. The bullets say a hose and regulator are included. The components field says the user manual. Pack more than one cartridge if the meal is long. Campingaz’s page states 450 g. The amazon.co.uk bullets state 204 g/h. Divided, that is a little over two hours at that rate, and it is arithmetic, not a timed cook. One United Kingdom review said about 30 minutes. Do not promote the review into the specification. Bring a spare.

The light propane tabletop

The ROVSUN is the other packable griddle: 7.1 kg, propane named, and a regulator in the box list. You still bring a cylinder. Calor notes that propane keeps vaporising in the cold better than butane, which stops near freezing. It does not turn a patio bottle into a cartridge. The listing does not name pressure or thread. A camping cylinder may not be the 27 mm patio clip-on. Settle that on the gas griddle buying guide before you travel, or the 7.1 kg is a plate you cannot connect. One Othello review describes removing the supplied regulator and fitting a 5 kg patio-gas bottle. The listing fuel stays the CV 470 Plus. The swap is not approved here. Propane means the ROVSUN and its unnamed fitting. The cartridge means the Othello and spare cans. Do not mix them because a reviewer did.

What not to pack, and where you may light it

Do not pack the Campingaz plate for the Camp Bistro 3 or Camp Bistro DLX only. It was removed because it has no burner. At £18.95 it looks like a cheap griddle and it is a plate for a stove you must already own. If that stove is at home, the plate does not cook. Do not light these in a tent, a closed awning, or a caravan interior. Open air is the rule. BS EN 484 excludes leisure vehicles and boats, so this page does not certify one. A closed awning counts as indoors. The cart stays at home: a camping bullet against 23.4 kg. A walk-in pitch is the 7.1 kg ROVSUN, fitting unresolved, or the 10.5 kg Othello plus cartridges.

Common questions

What fuel do I pack for the Othello?
Campingaz CV 470 Plus, which is not in the box. The bullets say the hose and regulator are included. The components field says the user manual. Bring a spare cartridge if the meal is more than a short cook. Do not pack a patio-gas bottle as the specified fuel. One review describes that swap. The listing does not.
Is the ROVSUN easier to carry?
It is the lighter full griddle, at 7.1 kg against the Othello’s 10.5 kg. You still carry a propane cylinder, and the listing does not name the regulator’s pressure or thread. A camping cylinder may not match a 27 mm patio clip-on. The plate is the easy half. The fitting is the half to settle before you go.
Will a 15 kg Onlyfire go in the car?
It fits a boot, at 15.5 kg for the open plate and 17.9 kg with the lid. That is car-to-table, not a walk to a pitch. United Kingdom reviews of the open Onlyfire say they would not carry it to someone else’s barbecue. Use it when the table is next to the car. It is not the light camping option.
Is the Camp Bistro griddle plate a camping gas griddle?
No. The plate for the Camp Bistro 3 and Camp Bistro DLX only was removed from this category. It has no burner. At £18.95 you are buying a plate for a stove you already own, not a gas griddle with its own flame. If the stove is staying at home, the plate cannot cook the meal.
Can I use a gas griddle inside the tent or the caravan?
No. Not in a tent, a closed awning, or a caravan interior. Cook in the open air. A tabletop outside a tent is not the same as fitting an appliance into a leisure vehicle. BS EN 484 does not cover that installation, and this page does not certify one. If the awning has been closed against the weather, leave the burner off.
