Underwater pool repair patch

Updated: 21 October 2026

The paddling pool is full, and you would rather not bale it out for a pin hole. An underwater pool repair patch is a specific claim on a specific pack. It is not a word you can borrow from a neighbour’s listing. In this comparison only two kept kits say you may work underwater. Silence is not permission. The underwater column is on the [pool repair kit comparison](/hub/pool-care/pool-repair-kit). A purchase can earn a commission at no extra cost to you.

Three different instructions

Bestway’s bullets on 62068 say you can place the patch below the waterline, then wait 30 minutes. The UK shop lists a ten-pack at £3.99. The amazon.co.uk price is about £3.75. A shop review says a slow leak continued under the patch. Vinyl cement is a second method. Buy A Swimming Pool’s 59 ml kit, at £8.95, is weighted for 24 hours out of the water. Under water you fold the glued patch on itself, then still wait 24 hours. The tin contains cyclohexanone and xylene. Do not copy that fold onto a self-adhesive square. The third instruction is a refusal. Inflatable Repairs’ two-part PVC adhesive must be done dry, about 18°C to 25°C, humidity under 60 percent, and no flame. If a title shouted underwater and you bought a solvent tin, read the tin.

What this comparison’s listings say

Two cells say yes. Bestway B071GQ512M prints underwater use and a 30-minute wait. Asticers B0H7WN1W6W prints underwater use and a scraper press, with no hour count. UK reviews include underwater paddling-pool repairs. The title says 10 by 152 cm, and some UK reviews say about 10 by 100 cm. zhenye says wait about 30 minutes and do not touch the water. That is a no. Six cells say not stated: Paistely, kaiheng, Lianshi, D.A.Y. Republic, Aarovibe, and HuakChai. A live question on the kaiheng page says the square cannot be used underwater. Paistely, Aarovibe, and HuakChai say clean and dry, then 24 hours. A dry-hole pick is on the best pool repair kit page.

If the patch lifts

A wet sticker can look stuck and then peel. One Bestway underwater patch peeled after two days while a patch on the outside stayed put. Thin adhesive is the other UK comment on 62068. Pressing harder does not change that. Do not put a second wet patch on the same spot the same afternoon. Drain, clean off the failed adhesive, and use a pack written for a dry job. kaiheng’s 12-hour squares are a dry option with a seam ban. Aarovibe is a 24-hour glue, and one UK review says that repair fell apart when it got wet.

Liner pressure

A framed-pool liner is not the same vinyl as a paddling-pool ring. Patch a liner from the inside, so water pressure holds the patch on. That assumes the listing allows water, or that you have drained. It does not turn a not-stated square into an underwater product. Howards is the source of that inside-face point, not a test of these nine ASINs. The soapy-water check for an air ring is on how to repair a paddling pool puncture. The glue listings here do not print a hazard line. That means you do not know the solvents from the listing, not that there are none.

Common questions

Can I patch without emptying the pool?
Only if the pack you are holding tells you to. In this set that is Bestway 62068, with a 30-minute wait, and Asticers tape, with no printed hour count. zhenye says keep water off. The other six listings do not state underwater use. A full pool is not a reason to ignore a dry instruction.
Which kept listings say underwater?
Bestway B071GQ512M and Asticers B0H7WN1W6W. Bestway also states 30 minutes before reinflating and an area of 42.3 cm² per patch. Asticers states a scraper press and a title size of 10 by 152 cm, which some UK reviews put at about 10 by 100 cm. No other kept listing has a yes in the underwater cell.
Why did an underwater sticker peel after two days?
UK reviews on Bestway 62068 include that case: the underwater patch peeled after two days, and a patch on the outside stayed put. The same reviews describe thin plastic and thin adhesive. A Bestway shop review also says a slow leak continued under a patch. The listing still claims underwater use. The claim and the peel can both be true.
Can I use two-part PVC glue in the water?
No. Inflatable Repairs states a dry repair for that adhesive, in a ventilated place, about 18°C to 25°C, humidity under 60 percent, and no flame. Liner cements that do allow a wet fold are a different tin, with their own 24-hour or multi-day cure, and they are not the squares in this comparison. Do not fold a Bestway patch as if it were glued cement.
Do I patch a liner from the inside?
Yes when you are repairing a liner, so water pressure holds the patch on. That is a placement rule. It does not choose the chemistry. If your pack says dry, you still drain. If your pack says underwater, you can work from the inside without emptying, and you still wait the time that pack prints.
Is 30 minutes enough underwater?
It is what Bestway prints for 62068, including below the waterline. Shop liner cement on Buy A Swimming Pool is 24 hours. Asticers does not state a time, so you cannot give it Bestway’s 30 minutes.
