Gold paint for furniture

Updated: October 2026

A mirror frame and a wardrobe are not the same gold job, and a model spray is neither. This page is gold paint for furniture: frames, mouldings and pieces you live with, from the liquids in the [gold lacquer comparison](/hub/paints-and-varnishes/gold-lacquer). Products Compared used the amazon.co.uk files of 21 October 2026 and did not brush a chair. A qualifying purchase through our links can earn a commission at no extra cost to you. Tamiya TS-21 is a warning, not a method. Stirring and waiting are on [how to apply gold paint](/hub/paints-and-varnishes/gold-lacquer/sub/gold-lacquer-how-to-apply). What counts as a furniture gold here

Stay with a brush acrylic or the Rustins tin. Guild Lane’s 60 ml jar is the bright accent reviewers put on frames and door furniture. Nicpro Sahara’s 250 ml is the warm antique on mirror surrounds, knobs and frames. ARTFLY and VGSEBA turn up on small objects. Meuvcol is a litre with one kind stair-post note and two texts that call the film watery. Leave Tamiya in the kit box. It is a 100 ml lacquer, ranked in Toys & Games, with seven UK texts about models rather than chairs. The Crowders / Premier spray is £5.99, 3.4 from eight reviews, and two of four texts say a different can arrived. Frenchic and Brewers sell larger furniture golds. Those tins are not these ASINs. Do not copy a floor cure onto 60 ml.

Shade and how far 60 ml goes

Bright and antique are different furniture golds. Guild Lane reviews describe a leaf-like metallic that can be too bright next to a yellow-gold frame. Sahara’s bullet says warm golden-brown. A 4.7 from 2,890 does not repaint that bullet. Use Sahara when the piece should look old. Rustins, 250 ml at £12.35, is the tin with a written method for wood and metal. Reviews include a bronze note and three or four coats. That is a thinner film with a label, not bright leaf. A 60 ml jar will not paint a wardrobe. Guild Lane claims about 2 m². One bed in a review is not a run of doors. Rustins’ label says about 3–3.5 m² per coat from 250 ml. Meuvcol’s litre looks like the wardrobe pack until you read 56 with no unit. Contradictory fields are on the buying guide.

Topcoat and kitchens

A clear coat is not automatic. Guild Lane says no topcoat for most indoor decorative projects. That is the seller’s sentence, and door-furniture reviews do not say how long the film lasts. Blackfriar suggest varnish on their own handrails. Their note does not correct Guild Lane. Limino’s varnish is in the kit and reviewers found it thin. None of these listings is a worktop specification.

Outdoor furniture

Outdoors, read both fields. Guild Lane’s indoor, outdoor and water lines agree, and the reviews are door furniture, not a bench left in rain. Sahara says Outdoor on the field and indoor in a bullet. The 60 ml Nicpro says Indoor only. Rustins says waterproof true beside Not Water Resistant, and the label says not to start if rain is imminent. Do not move a tin onto garden furniture because another brand mentioned railings.

Common questions

Can I paint a whole wardrobe with a 60 ml jar?
No. Guild Lane is 60 ml and claims about 2 m². One review describes two coats on a large bed, which is not a run of doors. Rustins at 250 ml is still an accent tin once you need three coats. Meuvcol’s litre is the only large pack, and two of six texts say it would not hide.
Which listing is aimed at frames and mouldings?
Guild Lane’s reviews name frames and door furniture: 60 ml of bright gold at £37.48. Sahara’s reviews name mirror surrounds, knobs and frames, in antique 250 ml at £12.99. Rustins’ reviews name a mirror and metalwork, with a thinner film. ARTFLY and VGSEBA turn up on ornaments, not on a sideboard. Bright numbers follow the Guild Lane texts.
Is Sahara Gold the bright furniture gold?
No. The bullet calls it a warm antique, not a bright shine. It can be the right gold when antique is the aim, and the wrong bottle beside a bright frame. Heavy coats drip, and the outdoor field disagrees with an indoor bullet. The 60 ml Nicpro is a different product, indoor only.
Will Rustins do a mirror surround?
Reviewers have used it on a mirror, so a surround is a fair job if you accept a thin film. Expect several coats, and a shade that can look bronze next to a brighter gold. The label wants rust off bare metal and a red oxide primer for the best result on that tin. Do not call it waterproof while the next field disagrees.
Should I use the Tamiya can on a chair?
No. TS-21 is a plastic-model lacquer. The texts are about kits, the rank is Toys & Games, and specific uses say car. A chair or MDF is a different job. Spraying puts more coating in the air than a brush. Keep TS-21 for the kit that names it.
Does furniture gold need a clear coat?
Only if your tin says so, or hands will rub the surface. Guild Lane’s no-topcoat line fits a frame on a wall better than a chair arm. Limino’s varnish is in the kit and reviewers found it thin. Blackfriar’s handrail varnish is advice for Blackfriar. If people will hold the piece, test a scrap before you trust a bullet.
Can the same tin go on outdoor furniture?
Only where the listing agrees with itself, and not as a weathering claim from us. Guild Lane’s place and water fields match, and the reviews are door furniture rather than a rained-on bench. Rustins contradicts itself on water. Sahara and the 60 ml Nicpro clash or say indoor only. Do not paint a garden table from the friendlier sentence.
