Best concrete paint

Updated: 23 October 2026

The best concrete paint in this set depends on whether you are coating a wall, a small indoor floor, or a front step. Amazon's Concrete Paint bestseller list is mostly floor and garage coatings, and those tins are not the twelve rows in the [concrete paint comparison](/hub/paints-and-varnishes/concrete-paint). High stars on white masonry paint do not make it a floor paint. Peter F. scored these amazon.co.uk listings on 23 October 2026 from stars, review count, a named job, and price per litre. That score is not a laboratory test. A qualifying purchase through our links can earn a commission at no extra cost to you.

Our top picks

Best white masonry in this set

For a sound exterior concrete, brick, or rendered wall in white, the top pick is Leyland Granocryl 2.5 litres, at £15.17. It is 4.6 from 2,120 reviews, the largest file here, and the score is 89. The bullet names concrete and claims about 10 square metres a litre. One review reports cracking beside a dearer masonry paint, so the surface still has to be sound. Skip it for a floor or a power-floated slab. The best value white wall tin is the 5 litre Leyland at £20.95, about £4.19 a litre, with 4.6 from 1,395 reviews and a score of 79. This listing does not name concrete the way the 2.5 litre does. Choose 5 litres for a large white wall you already know is masonry. The checklist sits in the concrete paint buying guide.

Black, and the coloured one-litre tins

Sandtex Microseal black, 1 litre, is £11.17 with 4.6 from 1,515 reviews. That star line is close to Leyland's, and it is still not the top pick. The coverage cell reads 1 m² per coat, concrete is not named, and Sandtex's page excludes common Fletton and engineering bricks. It is the black masonry tin if you will ignore the broken cell and read the maker's page. Coloured one-litre tins cost £22.90 to £24.90 and need a patch. HQC terracotta and classic grey share 4.4 from 1,766 reviews. Landlords beige and Moroccan sand share 4.4 from 1,053 and an image. The title spells Morrocan. These are colour trials.

Best interior floor and best step

The only listing whose paint type is floor paint is Ronseal Diamond Hard floor paint in slate, 750 ml, at £15.72 with 4.5 from 445 reviews. Usage says indoor. Ronseal's page limits it to interior concrete, stone, and wood, excludes power-floated, self-levelling, and tiled floors, and says heavy traffic after 72 hours. A 750 ml tin covers about 3 square metres with three coats. It is not a garage coating. For a front step, Ronseal tile red, 750 ml, is £13.37 with 4.5 from 1,040 reviews. Amazon says two hours. Ronseal's page says fully hard in 24 hours. The black 250 ml is £10.49 with 4.2 from 1,121 and a clearer rain cluster. Neither tin is a wall paint.

What not to call best

The DRW 250 ml black satin doorstep paint is £11.49, with no review line. The model name copies Ronseal wording, then the surface attribute drops concrete. It is a brand clash, not a Ronseal alternative you can score. Amazon's Concrete Paint bestsellers were floor and garage coatings. Leyland and Sandtex were not leading that node. Do not call any tin the best concrete paint in the UK. The top pick and the best value result apply only inside these twelve rows, and only for a white exterior wall.

Common questions

What is the best paint for a concrete wall?
In this set the top pick for a white exterior concrete wall is Leyland Granocryl 2.5 litres at £15.17, 4.6 from 2,120 reviews. The bullet names concrete. The 5 litre tin at £20.95 is the lower price per litre and does not name concrete in the same way. Skip both for a floor or a step. The score is from listing data, not a lab.
Is the 5 litre tin better value than the 2.5 litre?
On price per litre, yes. The 5 litre Leyland is about £4.19 a litre and the 2.5 litre is about £6.07, from £20.95 and £15.17. The 5 litre tin has 1,395 reviews and does not state concrete in the bullet. Buy 5 litres for a large white wall you already know is masonry. Buy 2.5 litres when you want the concrete line on the page.
What should I buy for a front step?
Ronseal tile red, 750 ml at £13.37, is the stronger step pack here, at 4.5 from 1,040 reviews. The black 250 ml is £10.49, about £42 a litre, with 4.2 from 1,121 and more rain complaints in the sample. Keep the step dry beyond the Amazon field that says two hours, because Ronseal's page says fully hard in 24 hours. A wall tin is the wrong film for the tread.
Is there a best garage paint in this table?
No. The only floor-paint ASIN is Ronseal Diamond Hard, 750 ml, and Ronseal limits it to interior floors, with heavy traffic after 72 hours. It excludes power-floated and self-levelling concrete. Masonry paint is a wall film. A car bay needs a garage system that is not among these twelve listings. Do not stretch the top pick across to a slab.
Why is Sandtex not the top pick?
The star line is strong, 4.6 from 1,515, and the coverage cell is not. It reads 1 m² per coat, and the ASIN does not name concrete. Sandtex's page states 12 to 16 square metres a litre. The top pick went to Leyland 2.5 litres because the review file is larger and the bullet names concrete.
Can I trust HQC's 1,766 reviews twice?
No. Terracotta and classic grey both show 4.4 from 1,766. That is one shared line. Colour complaints sit in that file, and classic grey's code is 000000. Bagels is a different ASIN with 21 reviews. Patch the colour on your wall. Counting both HQC rows as separate proof doubles the same opinions.
