Airbrush kit with compressor: what to check before you pay

Updated: 17 October 2026

You are about to pay for an airbrush kit with compressor, and the amazon.co.uk title is not always the carton. On the twelve listings in our [Airbrush set](/hub/painting-supplies/airbrush-set) comparison, read on 15 October 2026, the included-components line sometimes names a compressor and sometimes prints Tool Kit or Air Hose. This checklist covers that line, a pressure figure that still has a unit, and a plug for a UK socket. It does not name a winner. Cable or battery is on the [corded or cordless airbrush](/hub/painting-supplies/airbrush-set/sub/airbrush-set-corded-or-cordless) page. A purchase through our links may earn us a commission at no extra cost to you. Peter F. compared the listings and did not run a lab test.

What kit with compressor has to mean

The folder has three shapes. Corded kits are Powate, SHJKBST, Roizefar, Timbertech and MEEDEN, from £39.99 to £74.95. Cordless guns are both BURNTOP colours, Aloxina, Liwankaqi, CHAMSUREUK and Ykall, from £19.94 to £28.49. Rosemary & Co at £22.65 is a gravity-feed gun whose bullet says the hose and compressor are not included. The thread is 1/8 inch BSP male, and 55 psi is a limit on the gun, not a compressor you are buying. Match the phrase to the included-components line, not the title. Powate TA101 at £52.99 names the compressor, hose, adapter and oil-water separator there. A first-job fit is on the best airbrush kit for beginners page.

Pressure, with the unit still attached

A number without a unit is not a setting you can copy. Timbertech prints 4 bar, with autostart at 3 bar and autostop at 4 bar. MEEDEN prints 21 psi. Both BURNTOP files print 48 psi in the spec and the bullet. SHJKBST prints 40 psi in both places. That agreement is still listing text. We did not fit a gauge. The Airbrush Company says to read a gauge with the trigger down, because a standing figure is higher than the pressure at the nozzle. Kits with no gauge will not let you do that on day one. Where the spec drops the unit, or one cell says pascal and another says PSI, you cannot set that number from the page.

Nozzles and the UK plug

Iwata's rule is that a size change means needle, nozzle and cap together. Powate, SHJKBST, Roizefar, Timbertech and Rosemary claim 0.2, 0.3 and 0.5 mm. Powate's included line lists 0.5 mm and 0.2 mm only, so the 0.3 mm highlight is not confirmed there. MEEDEN is 0.5 mm. Ykall is 0.4 mm. Liwankaqi is 0.35 mm. Aloxina, CHAMSUREUK and both BURNTOP files are 0.3 mm. None of the twelve files states a BS 1363 plug. Regulation 35 of the Electrical Equipment (Safety) Regulations 2016 expects that plug, or a fused conversion plug, on a lead for a UK socket. MEEDEN prints 240 V. Timbertech prints 220 V, and one review reports a Euro two-pin plug. Powate is 12 V DC, so the adapter is the part that meets the socket. Primer for plastic and resin is on the airbrush kit for models page.

A checklist before you pay

Read the included-components line and tick only what it names. Air Hose, Tool Kit or a USB cable means the compressor is not yet a fact. Then read the spec pressure beside the bullet. If one has no unit, you cannot copy the number onto a gauge you do not have. Check the voltage cell before you assume a UK socket. Timbertech's tank volume is 7 ml, which is not a 3 litre receiver. A review that says the compressor never arrived is a risk on that ASIN. Section 22 of the Consumer Rights Act 2015 gives 30 days to reject faulty goods.

Common questions

Is the compressor actually in the box?
Match the title to the included-components line. Powate's line names a compressor. Rosemary's bullet says the hose and compressor are not included. SHJKBST and Roizefar say Air Hose in the components field while the bullets describe a kit. Ykall's title includes a compressor, and one review says it did not arrive. Aloxina's components field prints a USB cable only. Liwankaqi's line does name a compressor, beside a pressure clash.
Which pressure number do I trust when the spec and the bullets disagree?
Trust the figure that still has a unit, and treat a clash as unresolved. Powate's spec says 12 with no unit and the bullets say 25, 30 and 40 PSI. Roizefar's spec says 230 with no unit and a bullet says 55 PSI. Ykall's spec says 34 pascal and the title says 34 PSI. Timbertech's 4 bar, with autostart at 3 bar and autostop at 4 bar, is the cleanest pair here. A star line does not confirm psi.
Are all three nozzle sizes in the included-components line?
Powate's included line lists 0.5 mm and 0.2 mm and does not list 0.3 mm, even though a highlight mentions it. Rosemary lists needle, nozzle and cap for 0.2, 0.3 and 0.5 mm, with 0.3 mm pre-installed. SHJKBST and Roizefar put three sizes in the bullets while the components field says Air Hose. Change needle, nozzle and cap together, which is Iwata's rule, or you are mixing a head.
Does the plug fit a UK socket?
No file here states a BS 1363 plug. MEEDEN prints 240 V. Timbertech prints 220 V, and one review reports a Euro two-pin plug. Powate is 12 V DC with an adapter in the bullet on the sister corded files of this type. A 12 V gun can fall outside the Electrical Equipment (Safety) Regulations 2016. The wall adapter does not. Check the plug in the photographs and again on arrival.
Is there a moisture trap?
Powate lists an oil-water separator in the included-components line. SHJKBST, Roizefar and Timbertech name a trap in the bullets. SHJKBST's components field still says Air Hose only, so that trap is not confirmed there. The cordless files and Rosemary do not list one. On a long session, water in the airline is then yours to deal with.
Is the paint in the box, or only cleaner?
MEEDEN includes twelve 30 ml acrylics for craft surfaces and cites ASTM D-4236. That is not a food approval and it is not a model primer. Roizefar's four 100 ml bottles are described as cleaner. The other listings do not list paint. A cake line on a title does not put food colour in the carton.
