Safety shoes cost UK: what these listings charge

Safety shoes cost UK on seven amazon.co.uk Albatros listings, from £31.25 to £80.32. Those bands cover this set only, and the cheapest row has two ratings.
On this page

You have a quote on one screen and a basket on the other. One Albatros work shoe is £31.25. Another, still carrying the Albatros name, is £80.32. A safety shoes cost UK search invites a single average, and these pages do not contain one. The honest figure is the sticker on the listing you are about to buy, read beside the class code that title actually prints.
In short
Safety shoes in this Albatros set on amazon.co.uk run from £31.25 to £80.32, in three bands: a £31.25 row with two ratings, a middle group from about £52 to £69, and two titles near £77 to £80 that do not print a class. Clifton Low is £55.14 here and £52 on one UK shop page. Prices move, and a required pair at work is the employer’s cost.
What these listings cost
Name the shoe, then the pounds, using the amazon.co.uk listings held for this comparison. The low row is the unisex S1P work shoe, ASIN B09QCT342M, at £31.25. The title prints S1P, ESD, HRO and SRC, plus a fibreglass cap, penetration protection and a metal-free claim. The brand sits in the manufacturer field. The rating is 2.4 out of 5 from two ratings, and the file has no review text.
Ultimate Impulse Olive Low, B07MVDYBKH, is £51.52, with S1P and ESD on the title and size 44 printed there, rated 4.0 from 60 ratings. Clifton Low, B08XN4CB9Y, is £55.14, with S3 SRC, a fibreglass toe, puncture protection and a metal-free claim, rated 4.4 from 130 ratings. The Albatros comparison keeps class and price on one line.
Ultratrail Olive CTX Mid, B07B8G221J, is £61.72, with S3 and ESD on the title and EU 46 printed there, rated 4.2 from 167 ratings. Clifton Mid, B08XQC4ZRY, is £68.60, with S3 SRC on a title that also prints EU 36, rated 3.9 from 37 ratings. Ultratrail Low, B07B8MGJJN, is £77.37, a grey combination-leather low shoe with size 46 in the title, rated 4.3 from 488 ratings. Aer55 Impulse Low, B083WKC82N, is £80.32, rated 4.4 from 96 ratings. Neither of those two titles prints a safety class.
Clifton Mid, the Ultratrail mid boot and Ultimate Impulse print a size in the title, so use that sticker for the size shown until you open your own size.
Why the cheapest row is a weak sample
Cheap safety shoes at £31.25 can still print that long code. The weakness is the sample: two ratings at 2.4, and no review text, tell you almost nothing about a UK foot or a season of wear.
Clifton Low, at £55.14, prints S3 SRC, a fibreglass toe and a metal-free claim, with 4.4 from 130 ratings. Size comments split, and most are marked as written in Germany. An insole that failed after about a month, and a pair that lasted about three months, are individual reviews, not a lifespan.
A higher safety boots price is a weak sample when the title goes quiet. Ultratrail Low at £77.37 has 488 ratings at 4.3, and the title still does not state a class, a toe material, or a slip mark. Aer55 at £80.32 is 4.4 from 96 ratings with the same blank. Several comments describe a trainer-like shoe. One review, marked France, describes a sole that came unstuck after two days. Stars score the page. They do not fill a blank class.
A repeated 1 kg weight line cannot rank which shoe is lighter. Leave weight out until a listing states a weighed figure you can compare.
Price and the class code are different columns
How much are safety boots in a class you can name? In this set, the class and the price refuse to line up. The £31.25 title is the most coded row. The £80.32 title is the least coded. Paying more does not buy you a higher letter, and paying less does not prove the letter is missing.
S3 on Clifton Low, Clifton Mid and the Ultratrail mid boot means that package: an S1P-type shoe plus a water-resistant upper and a cleated outsole. Ultimate Impulse and the £31.25 shoe print S1P. Aer55 and Ultratrail Low print neither. A site that asks for S3 is asking for the package. The article on S1P or S3 on a UK site walks through the letters.
SRC is on Clifton Low, Clifton Mid and the £31.25 shoe, and absent from the Ultratrail mid, Ultimate Impulse, Aer55 and Ultratrail Low titles. ESD is on the Ultratrail mid boot, Ultimate Impulse and the £31.25 shoe. Clifton Low’s amazon.co.uk title does not print ESD, even where a brand page uses that word. Pay for the title in front of you.
Composite toe boot price, if you want the words on the listing, points at two rows only. Clifton Low at £55.14 and the £31.25 shoe are the titles that claim fibreglass and metal-free. The other five leave the toe material unstated. Clifton Low’s own file shows a second ASIN in the product details, B0DPG3VLDP, beside the page id B08XN4CB9Y. Buy the address you opened.
When the job should be paying
A safety shoes cost UK total changes if the boots are required PPE. The Health and Safety Executive’s PPE FAQ points to section 9 of the Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974: an employer does not charge a worker for PPE that is required and used only at work. When the assessment shows the footwear is needed, HSE’s overview says it is supplied free of charge. PPE is still the last resort after other controls. If those other controls are enough, the boots may not be required at all.
HMRC’s National Minimum Wage manual, NMWM11120, uses safety boots as the example. Keeping the boots does not turn them into pay. A deduction for a replacement after normal wear can reduce National Minimum Wage pay. A spare pair you choose, when the employer does not require that extra pair, is a different payment. The full path, including limb (b) workers and the self-employed, is in who pays for safety boots. This page does not decide your contract.
If you spend your own money, buy a title that states the class your site already named. £55.14 for Clifton Low buys an S3 SRC claim and a 130-rating sample. £80.32 for Aer55 buys a title with no class. £31.25 buys a long code and two ratings. None of that is a lab ranking.
A shop sticker can move the same shoe
Amazon and a trade counter are different shelves. Clifton Low at £55.14 and the Safety Plus offer at £52 are the same model name with two stickers already. Add delivery if the page adds it after the price. A struck-through higher figure, when you see one, is that seller’s own earlier ticket.
Haix and Uvex are separate listing sets, and so is Strauss. Keep an Albatros pound figure on the Albatros page. If your site issues a brand, that issued pair is the one the assessment is built around. A personal favourite at £80 is a spare you are choosing.
These figures come from the amazon.co.uk listings held for the Albatros comparison, a Safety Plus page at £52 for Clifton Low, and a UK shop page at about £34 for a Blackrock composite S3L boot. Products Compared ran no laboratory test and did not calculate a UK average. A qualifying purchase through a comparison link can earn a commission at no extra cost to you. The listed price does not change.
Before you lock a budget, write down the ASIN, the class letters on the title, the size printed in the title, and the rating count. Then open the live page. The bands above are a way to read this set. They are the wrong tool for a national price.
