360 laser level vs cross line

Updated: 22 October 2026

You are choosing between a Huepar that lights the wall in front of you and one that wraps the room, and the dearer box looks more accurate because it draws more lines. A 360 laser level vs cross line decision is about how many walls you mark from one setup. The millimetres come after that. The GK011SG and the 360° models in our [Huepar laser comparison](/hub/measuring-equipment/huepar-laser) were priced from £79.99 to £349.99 on amazon.co.uk on 21 October 2026. What each beam actually draws

The Huepar Pro GK011SG at £79.99 throws a cross in front of the tool. It states a 120° vertical fan and a 180° horizontal fan. Leave it in the middle of the room and the fans still stop. A 3×360° draws one horizontal all the way round and two verticals. The Y03CG at £129.99 and the B03CG at £149.99 are the first prices for that shape. A 4×360° adds a second horizontal. The ZK04CG at £279.99 is the first of those. The W04CG kit talks about a bottom horizontal close to the floor, which floor tiles use and three picture frames do not.

Accuracy is a separate number

The GK011SG states ±2 mm at 10 m. The ZK04CG prints the same figure. The cross-line is not the loose sticker. The B03CG highlights ±3 mm at 10 m, and the motorised W04CG without a receiver, at £299.99, states the same looser figure. Buy the 360° because you need the wrap. Buy a Pro card because you want ±2 mm written down. On a 4 m wall, ±2 mm at 10 m scales to 0.8 mm if you take the claim straight. ±3 mm at 10 m scales to 1.2 mm. That is arithmetic from the listing, not a test we ran. Job, then accuracy, then sunlight is the order on the Huepar laser level buying guide.

Three planes or four

Choose three planes for walls and one ceiling height: studs, a dado around a corner, or units on more than one elevation. The B03CG at £149.99 is the review-heavy way in, 4.6 from 413 reviews. The GS03CG at £229.99 stays a three-plane tool and adds a fine-adjust clamp plus a stated ±2 mm at 10 m. You pay for the clamp and the sticker, not for a fourth line. Choose four planes when you also want a horizontal near the floor. The ZK04CG at £279.99 states ±2 mm at 10 m, and the receiver is extra on that ASIN. The W04CG at £299.99 is motorised and states ±3 mm at 10 m. A single wall belongs on the GK011SG.

Which to buy for the job in front of you

Buy the GK011SG when the marks live on one wall. Skip it when the same height has to appear on three walls from one setup. Buy a 3×360° when the level has to wrap the room and a floor line is not part of the job. Step to the GS03CG for ±2 mm at 10 m and the fine-adjust clamp. Buy a 4×360° when the second horizontal earns its place on the floor. The ZK04CG is the stated ±2 mm version. Named picks are on the best Huepar laser level page.

Common questions

Do I need 360° to hang pictures and fit one cabinet?
The GK011SG is the matched tool: a horizontal and a vertical fan on the wall you face, stated at ±2 mm at 10 m, at £79.99. A 360° laser will also put a line on that wall, and you will have paid for planes you are not using. Move up when a second or third wall needs the same height from one setup.
When does a 3×360° earn the extra money?
It earns it when you would otherwise turn a cross-line for each wall: studs, a tile datum around a room, units on more than one elevation. The step from £79.99 is the Y03CG at £129.99 or the B03CG at £149.99. The B03CG highlight states ±3 mm at 10 m, which is looser than the cross-line’s ±2 mm. You are buying coverage, and the tolerance did not tighten.
What does the fourth plane add for floor tiles?
A second horizontal. The W04CG kit describes a line close to the floor, so a wall line and a floor line can be on together. The ZK04CG at £279.99 states ±2 mm at 10 m. The motorised W04CG at £299.99 states ±3 mm at 10 m. Four planes are not automatically the tighter spec.
Is the cross-line less accurate?
The GK011SG states ±2 mm at 10 m. The B03CG highlight states ±3 mm at 10 m. The ZK04CG states ±2 mm at 10 m, the same band as the cross-line, with more planes. Accuracy is the millimetre line. The fan versus the full plane is about how much of the room you can see from one setup.
Will I keep moving a cross-line around a four-wall room?
Yes. The fans are 120° vertical and 180° horizontal, so each setup covers the wall in front of you. You transfer the height and turn the tool. A 3×360° or 4×360° leaves the tool in one place. You still check square, because a wrap can carry an error all the way round.
Is a 360° laser a rotary laser?
A 360° Huepar in this set projects fixed planes. A rotary spins a beam for open-site work and a different receiver. Huepar’s detector pages say those line-laser receivers are not for rotary lasers. Foundations or a long ground run are a hired rotary, not a dearer 360° line.
Can I mark a slope with either type?
Both families can lock the pendulum. That line is not self-levelled. On the ZK04CG, Huepar describes a slow flash in that mode. A cross-line can tilt for a rake on one wall. A 360° can throw that rake further around the room, which helps on a stair and hurts if you forget to unlock it for the next level mark.
