Hantek USB or bench oscilloscope

Updated: 22 October 2026

The 6022 is the cheap box on amazon.co.uk, and the photograph has no screen because the instrument does not have one. A Hantek USB or bench oscilloscope choice is whether every measurement will go through a PC, unsigned drivers included, or whether you will pay more for knobs and a display that works with the computer off. The [Hantek oscilloscope comparison](/hub/measuring-equipment/hantek-oscilloscope) lists the eight models and the captured prices. The 1008C is a vehicle tool and is not the USB example here. Peter F. used listings and public notes, not a lab. A qualifying purchase can earn a commission at no extra cost to you.

What USB means on these titles

On the 6022BE and the 6022BL, USB is the instrument. There is no display and no knobs on the box. The sigrok wiki summarises the 6022BE as two channels, 20 MHz, 48 MSa/s, 8 bit, and no display. A driver that never binds leaves a silent brick. Hantek's 6022BE page says there is no external supply. The port powers the box. On the DSO5102P, USB is a side door. The scope has its own 7-inch screen. The port is for storage and remote control, and one UK review could not get that PC link working. You can still use the knobs if the link fails. A failed 6022 driver means no trace. If you have no laptop, the 6022 cannot provide one.

The 20 MHz pair against a 100 MHz screen

Captured prices put the 6022BE at £65.99, rated 4.0 from 240, and the 6022BL at £71.71, rated 3.9 from 175. The DSO5102P, with the 7-inch screen and a 100 MHz title, is £262.99 and 4.5 from 317. The DSO2C10 is £174.63 if you want a screen and you are not trying to save the 6022's money. 48 MSa/s at 20 MHz is a weak match for the edges people buy a 100 MHz title to see. A UK review of the 6022BE describes noise at 20 mV/div with the probes shorted. At that sensitivity the grass can be the instrument.

Windows, Linux, and the driver

The 6022BE listing names Windows 10, 8, 7, NT, XP, and Vista. Hantek's page still lists an older set. UK reviews describe an unsigned driver. Sigrok notes a WinUSB driver assigned twice because the USB identity changes when the firmware loads. This page will not turn that note into steps. If you will not do that on a machine you rely on, £65.99 is not a saving. We do not claim Windows 11. One UK review describes a failure after calibration. That is one review, not a rate. The 6022BL adds 16 logic channels. One review says a driver install left a laptop unable to boot. The 6022 ground is the PC's ground, so a clip on the wrong node can damage the USB port.

Who should pick which

Pick the 6022BE if you already live on a Windows 10 or Linux machine, you accept unsigned or third-party software, and the signals sit inside 20 MHz and 48 MSa/s. Pick the 6022BL at £71.71 only when the 16 logic channels are the job. Skip both if you want a trace with the PC off. Pick the DSO5102P when you want the 7-inch screen and a 100 MHz title, and you can justify £262.99 against £65.99. Pick the DSO2C10 at £174.63 when you want a bench screen and you do not need the 6022. Which screen model matches which wider job is on the best Hantek oscilloscope page.

Common questions

Will the 6022BE install on Windows 10?
The listing we kept names Windows 10, alongside 8, 7, NT, XP, and Vista. UK reviews still describe an unsigned driver. Hantek's own page lists an older set and does not match that line word for word. Sigrok describes a WinUSB driver that has to be assigned twice. Expect a fiddly install. This page does not give steps for disabling signature checks.
Does the listing's Windows 10 line mean Windows 11?
It does not. We do not claim Windows 11 support for the 6022 family. One UK review reports a Windows 11 failure after calibration. That single account is not a percentage. Keep a Windows 10 or Linux machine in the plan if the 6022BE is the scope you are buying, and check the live listing in case the operating-system line has been edited.
What do I gain with the 6022BL?
You gain 16 logic channels at a captured £71.71, against £65.99 for the 6022BE, with 3.9 from 175 against 4.0 from 240. Both stay at 20 MHz and 48 MSa/s, and both need a PC. Reviews call the official logic software limited. One review says a driver install left a laptop unable to boot. Buy the BL when the logic inputs are the point.
Is the USB scope's ground the same as a bench scope's ground clip?
Both clips are earth references, and they land on different earths. The 6022 ground is the PC's ground, so a mistaken clip can damage the USB port or the computer. A mains bench scope's ground clip is protective earth through the BS 1363 lead, and clipping it to live is a short. On either instrument, the clip is not a second tip you can park on any node.
Is a noisy trace at 20 mV/div a fault in the circuit?
It may be the 6022. A UK review of the 6022BE describes noise at 20 mV/div with the probes shorted, which removes the circuit from the story. Short the probe tip to its own ground clip. If the grass is still there, treat it as the instrument at that scale. The review is one report, not a measurement we repeated.
