Mulching mower for a small lawn

Updated: October 2026

A mulching mower for a small lawn, in this comparison, means the 22 cm and 33 cm cordless decks, where weight and a real grass box matter more than the biggest area bullet. The 37 cm, 38 cm and 41 cm mowers stay on the [mulch mower comparison](/hub/lawn-and-garden-equipment/mulch-mower). Peter F. read the amazon.co.uk listings in files dated 19 October 2026 and did not mow a trial plot. None of these listings states self-propelled drive, so you still push. When 22 cm is the right small mower

The Swift EB122C at about £134.99 is the lightest mower, at 5.2 kg, with a 22 cm cut and a 40 V 2.0 Ah pack plus a fast charger. The area bullet says up to 50 m², and a runtime bullet says up to 35 minutes. There is no stated box volume. Buy it if you will mulch a very small or sloping patch. Skip it if you still want a grass box, a cut below 30 mm, or fewer passes on an open lawn. One saved review says the trigger failed at 13 months and the mower would not switch off until the pack was removed. The how to mulch page is the cutting sequence.

Litheli and Hyundai at about 33 cm

If you want to collect as well as mulch, step to about 33 cm. The Litheli is about £109.99, 20 V with 5.0 Ah stated, mulch or a 35 litre box, a weight field of 11.1 kg, and 4.3 from 684 reviews. A charger is not named, a height field of 25 cm conflicts with a 25 mm bullet, and one saved review received a dead battery. The Hyundai HY20CLM33 is about £125.99, with collect, drop or mulch, a 32 litre bag, and the battery and charger named in the title. Amp-hours are not stated. The star line is 3.9 from 51 reviews, with saved notes of an unthreaded assembly bolt and a grass box that is hard to seat.

Swift 32 cm and the Greenworks 24 V

The Swift EB132CP2 is about £139.99, a 40 V 2 Ah mower with a charger in the included line, mulch and a 30 litre box, heights from 20 to 60 mm, and up to 200 m² stated. The listing line is 4.2 from 1,287 reviews, the largest sample in this narrow group. The bullet says 32 cm and a field says 13 inches, so do not average them. The Greenworks 24 V is about £219.99, with a 4 Ah pack and charger, a 30 litre bag, a title width of 33 cm, and up to 260 m² stated. The weight field is 8 kg, and the model number disagrees between title and technical rows. Saved reviews mention clogging when the grass is wet.

What a small lawn still does not forgive

Wet grass still clumps, on 22 cm and on 33 cm. None of these decks states a rear roller. If stripes are why you are shopping, the corded Forte and the corded Hyundai are the two listings that state one, at 37 cm and 38 cm. The 5.2 kg Swift is the easier lift. Do not buy the 41 cm Greenworks on the best mulching mower page and hope it behaves on a narrow path. Its weight field is 20.8 kg. If you will not collect, the Swift 22 cm is the small mower. If you want a box and a named charger, the Swift 32 cm at about £139.99 lists both, with 1,287 reviews.

Common questions

Is 22 cm enough?
It is enough when the lawn is small or broken and you accept more passes. The Swift EB122C states up to 50 m², and a 22 cm cut still takes several runs to cross that. It is the wrong deck when you want a grass box, a cut below 30 mm, or fewer passes on an open lawn. The 33 cm mowers are the next step on this page. The 37–41 cm mowers are a different job.
What is the lightest mower in this set?
The Swift EB122C, at 5.2 kg, with a 22 cm cut and a 2.0 Ah pack. The Greenworks 24 V weight field says 8 kg beside a model number that disagrees between title and technical rows, so it is not a cleaner claim. Light weight helps on steps. It does not add a grass box, and it does not erase a saved trigger failure.
Do I still want a grass box on a small lawn?
You do if the grass gets long, wet or diseased, because a mulch-only cut puts those clippings back on the lawn. The 22 cm Swift does not state a box. The 33 cm rows do: 35 litres on the Litheli, 32 litres on the Hyundai, and 30 litres on the Swift 32 cm and the Greenworks 24 V. A tiny dry lawn you mow often can live without a box.
Which 33 cm mower states a charger?
The Hyundai HY20CLM33 names a battery and charger and does not state amp-hours. The Swift EB132CP2 lists the charger and states 2 Ah. The Greenworks 24 V includes a 4 Ah pack and a charger. The Litheli states 5.0 Ah and does not name a charger. If you want a charger in the included line and a printed amp-hour, the Swift 32 cm and the Greenworks are the clearer rows, at very different prices.
Why not buy the 41 cm and just use it on the small bit?
The 41 cm Greenworks weighs 20.8 kg in the weight field and needs room to turn. On a narrow lawn you have paid about £269.16 for a deck the space does not use. It is the wide-lawn listing, with 4.4 from 1,182 reviews. The up to 50 m² line on the Swift 22 cm is that maker’s bullet, not a lawn we measured.
