How to use an Einhell leaf blower

Updated: October 2026

A dry Saturday looks easy until full speed throws gravel across the drive and turbo flattens the pack before the lawn edge is clear. How to use an Einhell leaf blower, on the bodies in this comparison, comes down to a low nozzle, the lowest speed that moves the leaves, and turbo only for a short stuck patch. Prices and the shortlist stay on the [Einhell leaf blower comparison](/hub/lawn-and-garden-equipment/einhell-leaf-blower). We used amazon.co.uk review themes and public UK guidance on 22 October 2026 and did not run a garden trial. A qualifying Amazon purchase can earn a commission at no extra cost to you.

Set the job up before the battery goes on

Wait until the leaves are dry. Agrigem’s lawn guidance says dry leaves, a breeze you can work with, and a slower speed on gravel. Lay a sheet where you want the pile, then blow towards it. Keep a shallow angle, wear eye protection, and keep the nozzle off people and pets. Do not blow fertiliser, pesticide, or herbicide. The jet lifts grit, so eye protection stays on. HSE guide INDG362 gives employers action values of 80 and 85 dB(A). A householder is not that employer. GOV.UK sets no national clock, so check your council if neighbours have complained. What to buy is in the buying guide.

Fit the tube, then the pack

Fit the tube before the pack goes on. On the GE-LB 36/210 the tube has three lengths and needs no tools: turn it until it locks. If a section is only pushed on, it can come off once the air starts. The VENTURRO has to be assembled before it will run. Check the lock by hand with the battery off. An 18 V body takes one Power X-Change pack. A 36 V body takes two 18 V packs together, and one pack will not start it. Match the pair for capacity and charge. A flat 2.0 Ah beside a full 4.0 Ah stops the tool early. A charger, if you need one, has to use a BS 1363 plug. The blower itself has no mains plug. A swollen pack goes back through returns. Do not open it.

Aim down and keep the speed low

Point the nozzle down at a shallow angle and use the lowest speed that actually moves the leaves. A flat blast across the lawn scatters them into the border you have just cleared. On gravel and on a block drive, drop the speed further. UK reviewers of the GE-CL 18 use variable speed for that reason: full power throws stones as well as leaves. Work with the breeze, in strips, towards the sheet. On turf, keep the nozzle close enough to lift dry leaves and far enough that you are not scalping the grass. If the leaves are a wet mat, blowing harder is the usual mistake. Some UK reviews of the GE-LB 36/210 say that blower moves wet leaves as well as dry ones. That is not a promise for every model, and it is not a result for a vacuum. When the pile will not lift, stop and rake.

Turbo, the switch, and a blocked vac

Turbo is the short setting for a stuck patch, not the speed you leave on for the whole garden. Einhell’s sheet for article 3433620, the 36/210, gives about 10 minutes on turbo with 4.0 Ah packs. That is a manufacturer setup, not the runtime of the GP-LB 18/200. UK reviews of the 18/200 say a small pack fades on maximum. Come off turbo as soon as the patch moves. On the GP-LB 18/200 the on switch is easy to knock, including when you set the tool down. Point the nozzle at the ground and check the switch. If a vacuum tube blocks, switch off and remove the pack before you clear the path. Do not reach into a shredder with the battery still fitted. A blocked bag is on blower or vacuum.

Common questions

Where do I point the nozzle?
Point it down at a shallow angle, towards a sheet or a pile you have chosen, and keep it off people, pets, and windows. A high aim throws leaves back into the border and grit into your face. On gravel, lower the speed as well as the angle. Eye protection stays on for the whole job, because the jet lifts whatever is loose on the surface.
Should I wait until the leaves are dry?
Yes, if you can. Dry leaves move at a lower speed, which keeps the pack going and keeps gravel on the drive. Damp leaves stick, and several UK reviews say a heavy wet fall is beyond the smaller 18 V bodies. A wet-leaf comment on the GE-LB 36/210 is about that blower, not a reason to force damp stalks through a vacuum. If they will not lift, rake them.
When do I press turbo?
Press turbo for a short stuck patch, then go back to the lowest speed that works. On the 36/210, Einhell’s sheet puts turbo at about 10 minutes with 4.0 Ah packs. That figure is not a coverage claim, and it is not the runtime of the GP-LB 18/200. A small pack on maximum is the short session UK reviews describe.
How do I fit the tube?
Turn the sections until they lock, with the battery off. On the GE-LB 36/210 that is a tool-free tube in three lengths. A VENTURRO needs to be assembled before it runs. If the tube comes off in use, stop, remove the pack, and lock it again.
Why did it switch on when I put it down?
On the GP-LB 18/200, UK reviews say the on switch is easy to knock, including when the tool is set down. Point the nozzle at the ground and check the switch. If the tool starts on its own with the switch clearly off, stop using it and use the returns route.
