Einhell strimmer line or blades

Updated: October 2026

The edge in front of you is either open grass or a kerb, gravel, and a wall, and both tools are called an Einhell strimmer. The wrong cutter spends the afternoon snapping. This comparison of Einhell strimmer line or blades covers the eight amazon.co.uk listings captured on 19 October 2026: which articles use plastic knives, which use nylon, and what diameter is printed. The [Einhell grass trimmer comparison](/hub/lawn-and-garden-equipment/einhell-grass-trimmer) holds the prices. Peter F. used those listings and Einhell’s UK pages. We did not run a wear test. What each cutter is for

Einhell’s UK blog splits the heads. Nylon line is for walls and stones, because the line gives way instead of kicking a hard edge back at you. Plastic blades are for open grass, with care near hard surfaces. A metal blade is a motor scythe, not a lawn trimmer. Five listings are plastic blades, 24 cm, with 20 knives: articles 3411104, 3411123, 3411172, 3411125, and 3411197. Three are nylon. Article 3411242 is the 28 cm GE-CT 18/28 with automatic feed. Article 3411300 is the 30 cm GE-CT 36/30 with a single 2 mm line. Article 3402026 is the corded GC-ET 4530 with twin line. A battery in the box does not turn knives into nylon. Solo or kit, once the cutter is settled, is on the buying guide.

What breaks on a British edge

Reviews of these blade listings often report the knives snapping on paving and stone. That does not cancel Einhell’s point that blades can wear less on open grass. On a patio edge, the same knife is the part that disappears. The tilting head on article 3411172 turns the cutter for a turf edge. It does not make the knife tolerant of stone. A flower guard is for plants, not a skid that saves the blade. Reviews of the line listings report the supplied line breaking once you leave grass. Open grass points at blades. Hard edges point at line, and line is still a consumable.

1.4 mm, 1.6 mm, and 2 mm

Each figure belongs to one article, and the source is not always Amazon. Article 3411242 does not print a line diameter in the captured Amazon block. Einhell’s page prints 1.6 mm and a 5 m spool. Do not use the rpm disagreement as a reason to change the line size. Article 3411300 specifies a single 2 mm line and bump feed on Amazon. Einhell’s page also prints 2 mm, and 8 m on the spool. This is the only cordless tool here whose listing itself states 2 mm. It needs two 18 V packs and includes neither. Article 3402026 is twin line. Einhell prints 1.4 mm, plus a 10 m cable. Do not put 2 mm line on the 1.6 mm head or the 1.4 mm head. The 24 cm tools are knife carriers. A spool is the wrong refill.

When neither head is the right tool

If the growth is woody, both heads are wrong. A brush cutter takes woody growth, and only with a blade the maker approves. None of these eight listings is that machine. A kerb is the line case. Use a short line and a fitted guard, and expect a snapped filament rather than a snapped knife. Changing either cutter, with the battery off or the lead out, is on the how to use page. Which listing to buy once you know the ground is on the best Einhell grass trimmer page.

Common questions

Which of the eight use blades, and which use line?
Blades, all 24 cm with 20 knives: articles 3411104, 3411123, 3411172, 3411125, and 3411197. Line: article 3411242 (28 cm, automatic feed), article 3411300 (30 cm, 2 mm bump feed), and article 3402026 (corded, 30 cm twin line). A kit or a Solo does not change that split.
What diameter is printed for each line model?
Einhell UK prints 1.6 mm and 5 m for article 3411242, 2 mm and 8 m for article 3411300, and 1.4 mm for article 3402026. Amazon’s captured block for the 28 cm Solo does not print a diameter, so 1.6 mm is the brand page. Article 3411300 does state 2 mm on Amazon as well. There is no single Einhell line size.
Why do reviews disagree with Einhell’s blade advice?
They disagree about the ground. Einhell’s blog is talking about open grass, where a plastic knife can outlast line on a larger lawn. Reviews of these 24 cm listings are often about paving, where the knives snap. Both can be true if you keep the condition. Neither source means blades always last longer, or that blades always fail.
Can I put 2 mm line on the 1.6 mm or 1.4 mm head?
No. Article 3411300 is the 2 mm tool. Article 3411242 is 1.6 mm on Einhell’s page, and article 3402026 is 1.4 mm. Fitting the heavier gauge changes the head those pages specify. Thicker line needs more power, which is a reason to stop, not a shopping list. Buy the refill that matches the article number.
Is a plastic blade a brush-cutter blade?
No. The 20 knives in these boxes are for grass. A brush-cutter blade is metal, on a machine rated for it. Do not fit one to these shafts because the growth got away from you. Einhell’s blog treats that metal blade as a different tool, a motor scythe rather than a lawn trimmer.
What happens at a kerb?
A plastic knife is the part reviews report snapping. Line is the cutter Einhell points at walls and stones, and the supplied line is still reported to break once you leave grass. Use the line head, with the guard on, and expect to replace filament. The flower guard on a blade tool does not stop the snap. It is there for plants, not for concrete.
