Before you start the motor

Walk the lawn before you touch the bail bar. The RHS says mow dry grass, skip frost, and pick up stones and toys. If the lawn is wet enough to clog, leave it, including on a cordless model. Electrical Safety First warns mains mowers off wet grass because of shock. A battery does not remove the clog or the torn turf. Do not take more than about one third of the leaf in one pass. You will stall a corded motor or empty a 3.0 Ah pack, which is what UK reviews describe on long damp grass. On the GC-EM 1600/37, keep the cable out of the uncut stripe. Set the height for this mower

Start on the highest setting, then come down later. One RHS page says the first cut should be at the highest setting, then about 4 cm outside summer and about 2.5 cm in summer. A second RHS page says about 13–25 mm in summer and up to about 40 mm in spring and autumn. Follow one page. Do not average them. These rotaries do not reach fine-lawn heights of 6–13 mm. The GC-EM 1600/37 starts at 20 mm. The GE-CM 18/30 Li starts at 30 mm. The 1,600 W model uses five single-wheel steps from 20 mm to 60 mm, and UK reviews say the lowest step scalps. The 18/30 uses three axial settings from 30 mm to 70 mm. The 1,800 W card lists six central heights from 20 mm to 65 mm. Passes, the box, and clogs

Overlap each pass by a few centimetres. The RHS says to empty the box before it is packed solid. On the GC-EM 1600/37 the box is 38 litres, and UK reviews say the fill flap lies when the box is already choking the deck. The GE-CM 18/30 Li box is 25 litres, so you will empty it sooner on soft grass. When the deck stalls, release the bail bar and wait until the blade stops. Then isolate the power. On the corded 1,600 W model, unplug at the socket. On a cordless model, take the pack off. The RASARRO 36/34 lists a safety key. Remove the key as well as the pack. Do not tip the mower while a pack is in or a lead is live. Stop if the mower shakes.

Lead, pack, and when to stop

The GC-EM 1600/37 states a 10 m lead. If that is not enough, Electrical Safety First wants one outdoor extension, fully unwound, and no second reel daisy-chained on. The Health and Safety Executive still treats an RCD as secondary, not as permission to mow across the cable. One UK review of the GE-CM 43 reports two-pin chargers, so charge only from a BS 1363 socket. A cell on that model says 60 minutes. That is a listing claim, not a time we recorded. Stop if you smell burning, if you cut the lead, or if the mower vibrates. A motor that will not restart is for the retailer under the Consumer Rights Act 2015. A new outdoor socket is an electrician's job.

Can I mow wet grass with a cordless Einhell?
No. A missing lead does not make wet grass a good idea. Electrical Safety First warns mains mowers off wet grass because of shock. Cordless cards in this set still clog in damp long grass, which is a repeated UK review theme, and wet turf tears when the deck drags. Wait until the lawn is dry, and strim a neglected edge before you drop the height.
How do I stop the blade before I clear a clog?
Release the bail bar and wait until the blade stops. Unplug a corded mower at the socket. On a cordless model, remove the battery and the safety key if the machine has one. The RASARRO 36/34 lists a safety key, and GE-CM 43 reviews mention a key. Only then clear the chute. Do not reach under the deck while a pack is fitted or the lead is live.
Do I need an extension lead on the 1,600 W model?
The listing states a 10 m lead. If that reaches, you do not need an extension. If it does not, use one outdoor lead, fully unwound, and do not plug a second reel into the first. Keep the cable on grass you have already cut. The 1,800 W card does not state a lead length, so do not assume it is also 10 m.
When should I stop and call someone?
Stop if you smell burning, if you cut the lead, or if the blade is bent and the mower shakes. A dead motor after a cool-down is for the retailer. A new outdoor socket is for an electrician. Clearing a damp clog, once the pack is off or the plug is out, is ordinary use. Opening the motor housing, or fitting a blade from guesswork, is not.
