Einhell corded vs cordless lawn mower

Updated: October 2026

You still have a socket on the house wall, or you already hate dragging a lead through the borders. That is the Einhell corded vs cordless lawn mower choice in this amazon.co.uk set. A 230 V lead wins when it reaches and the grass is long, because the motor does not fade as a pack empties. Packs win when the lead is what stops you mowing, and only if the carton actually contains them. Prices and stars are on the [Einhell electric lawn mower comparison](/hub/lawn-and-garden-equipment/einhell-electric-lawn-mower). Peter F. compared the saved listings on 22 October 2026. When the lead wins

Einhell's UK hub says corded machines stay at full power while the socket or extension reaches. That is the GC-EM 1600/37: about £114.99, 4.5 from 298 reviews, 1,600 W, 37 cm, a 38 litre box and a 10 m lead. There is no pack to fade halfway down a stripe. UK reviews praise the cut and call the lead short. A bullet says up to 700 m². That is a recommendation, not a plot we measured. The GC-EM 1800/43 at about £167.74 says 1,800 W and 43 cm. It is 4.7 from four reviews, and the lead length is missing. Do not assume 10 m. If you want mains, the 1,600 W card is the one with a known lead. Electrical Safety First wants one outdoor extension, fully unwound, and no daisy-chained second reel. The Health and Safety Executive still calls an RCD secondary. Keep the lead on grass you have already cut.

One pack or two

An 18 V kit is one Power X-Change pack. A 36 V mower is Einhell's Twin-Pack: two 18 V packs together, not one drill pack doing both jobs. The complete 18 V options are the GE-CM 18/30 Li at about £83.94 with a 3.0 Ah pack, and the GE-CM 18/33 Li at about £149.95 with a 4.0 Ah pack. The second is 33 cm, and its bullets disagree about the bag. UK reviews on the 18/30 call it usable on a small lawn, with a weak runtime. A Gardeningetc note of about 30 minutes on an 18/33 is that writer's test, not a spec on every 18 V card. When one pack is not enough, the RASARRO 36/34 kit is about £237.99 with two 3.0 Ah packs. The title says 34 cm and a cell says 36 cm. The GE-CM 43 Li M kit is about £239.94 with two 4.0 Ah packs and a cell that says 60 minutes. UK reviews still report a short run on long grass.

Prices that are not ready to mow

Compare a cordless price with the about £114.99 corded mower only when the packs are in the carton. The GE-CM 18/33 Li Solo is about £119 and has no battery. It can look cheaper than the corded 37 cm machine and still not mow. The GP-CM 36/41 Li-Solo is about £249 and needs two packs that are not included. Chargers still need a BS 1363 plug under the 2016 safety regulations. One UK review of the GE-CM 43 reports two-pin chargers. Wheel drive is stated only on the 46 cm kit, at about £448. The carton check is the Einhell electric lawn mower buying guide. The two named roles are on the best Einhell electric lawn mower page.

A conditional pick

Choose the GC-EM 1600/37 when the socket is close and you will keep one extension honest. At about £114.99, with a stated 10 m lead, it is the corded buy here. It is the wrong buy if you would need a second reel. Choose the about £83.94 GE-CM 18/30 Li when you hate the lead and the lawn is small and cut often. Skip it for long damp grass. Move to the RASARRO at about £237.99 or the GE-CM 43 at about £239.94 when one pack dies early. Width for a terrace sits on the Einhell lawn mower for a small garden page.

Common questions

When do I need two packs?
When the mower is a 36 V Twin-Pack, and when one 18 V pack's runtime complaints match your lawn. The RASARRO 36/34 kit and the GE-CM 43 Li M kit each include two packs. Einhell says a second pair is the next step if the first pair will not finish. A single 18 V drill battery does not turn a 36 V mower into a one-pack tool.
Does cordless mean self-propelled?
No. Variable-speed wheel drive is stated on the 46 cm kit's bullets, at about £448, and that listing also conflicts on battery count. The 18 V kits, the RASARRO 36/34 and the GE-CM 43 do not state wheel drive. You push them. Cordless removes the mowing lead. It does not add driven wheels.
Can I add a second extension reel?
No. Electrical Safety First says one extension, fully unwound, outdoor-rated, with a thermal cut-out if it lives on a reel. Daisy-chaining a second reel is what they tell you to avoid. If one lead does not reach, the corded mower is the wrong path. An RCD is extra protection. The HSE still treats it as secondary, not as a licence to mow over the cable.
Will an existing drill battery run a 36 V mower alone?
No. Einhell's Twin-Pack description is two 18 V Power X-Change packs working together. One pack is the 18 V setup, as on the about £83.94 kit. A 36 V deck expects the pair. If you own one drill pack, look at an 18 V kit, or at a Solo only when you are buying the missing pack on purpose.
Why did a charger arrive with two pins?
One UK review of the GE-CM 43 Li M reports two-pin chargers. A cordless mower still charges from the mains, and a UK socket wants a BS 1363 plug. Do not use a travel adaptor on a garden charger. Check the listing photos, and treat a two-pin charger as a returns problem. The bare 33 cm Solo at about £119 is also not cheaper than the about £114.99 corded mower unless you already own a pack.
