Cordless lawn mower buying guide

Updated: October 2026

You have already decided the petrol can stays in the shed, and you are looking at a walk-behind battery mower for a small or medium UK lawn. The cordless lawn mower buying guide that matters is short: is a pack actually in this amazon.co.uk box, which platform does it use, and do the width and height lines agree. Prices and the ten-row table live on the [cordless lawn mower comparison](/hub/lawn-and-garden-equipment/cordless-lawn-mower). Peter F. checked listings captured on 22 October 2026. Nothing here was mown in a lab. A qualifying amazon.co.uk purchase can earn a commission at no extra cost to you.

What you are actually buying

A cordless mower in this set is a push rotary. The blade runs from a rechargeable pack, the charger plugs into UK mains, and there is no lead across the grass. A kit names a battery and, on most of these pages, a charger. A twin-pack kit names two batteries. A bare tool is only the mower body. The Ryobi OLM1833B is the bare tool, at about £160.20, with the battery and charger excluded. LIGO, the Litheli 40V row, DEKO and SEYVUM name two batteries. Both Einhell kits, Bosch, Forte and the Litheli 20V row name one, and the Litheli pages do not name a charger as its own line. A lead is a different problem, on the cordless versus corded lawn mower page.

Width, gate, and lawn size

Which? describes small lawns as under 50 m², medium as 50–150 m², and large as 150 m² or more. That is size language, not a score for these ten ASINs. Maker lines such as “up to 200 m²” are claims. The Einhell 33 cm capture says both 200 m² and 20 m² on the same listing. Decks run from 30 cm on the Einhell GE-CM 18/30 Li, listed at 9.32 kg, to 40 cm on the SEYVUM. A wider strip still has to fit the side gate and the shed. None of these bullets claim self-propel.

Platforms that do not click together

Einhell Power X-Change, Ryobi ONE+ and Bosch POWER FOR ALL are three 18V systems. The listings do not say the packs interchange. A PXC pack is not a spare for the Ryobi body. Litheli 20V and Litheli 40V are different nominal voltages. Forte is 21.6V with no shared-platform line, and LIGO names its own 20V ecosystem. DEKO’s title says 40V and a bullet says 2 x 20V 4.0Ah. Amp-hours are not minutes. Winter storage sits in cordless lawn mower battery life.

Lines that contradict each other

Stop when the same listing disagrees with itself. On the Einhell GE-CM 18/33 Li, one bullet says no collection bag and side discharge, while a highlight says a 30 L grass box. Heights on that model do agree, at 25–65 mm in five steps. Litheli prints millimetres in the bullets and centimetres in the attributes. LIGO disagrees on steps and units. Forte is 22–72 mm against 20–70 mm. The Einhell 30 cm agrees at 30–70 mm in three steps, with a 25 L bag. DEKO and SEYVUM print 25–75 mm in six steps, but DEKO’s weight is 350 g in the attributes and 12.5 kg in a highlight. The RHS summer band is about 13–25 mm, so a 30 mm minimum cannot make the short end of that cut.

A checklist before you order

Confirm a battery is named, and notice when a charger is not. Treat the Ryobi price as a body until a ONE+ pack you trust is already on the shelf. Name the platform, check the deck against the gate from 30 cm to 40 cm, and keep a height only when the lines share the same millimetres. Drop any collect, mulch or roller the listing does not print. A 4.5 from two reviews, the DEKO line, is not the same evidence as 4.2 from 9,541. Check the charger for a BS 1363 plug in your hand. The captures do not show the plug.

Common questions

What width suits a small UK lawn?
Which? calls a small lawn under 50 m². In this set the narrow decks are 30–34 cm, including the Einhell 30 cm, the Bosch 32 cm and the Forte 34 cm. A 40 cm SEYVUM still has to pass the gate, and a wider strip does not fix a pack that runs out. Measure the lawn and the side passage before you treat 40 cm as automatically better.
Does cordless mean the battery is in the box?
Not on every listing. Nine of these ten pages name a battery. The Ryobi OLM1833B says the battery and charger are excluded. Two Litheli pages name batteries and do not name a charger as a separate included item. Read the included-components line, not the word cordless in the title.
Can I use an Einhell pack on a Ryobi?
No. The captures describe Einhell Power X-Change, Ryobi ONE+ and Bosch POWER FOR ALL as separate 18V systems. They do not say the packs fit each other. Litheli 20V and Litheli 40V are different nominal voltages as well. Buy the pack the mower’s own listing names.
How low can these mowers cut?
Only where the lines agree. The Einhell 30 cm is 30–70 mm in three steps. DEKO and SEYVUM print 25–75 mm in six. The RHS puts an ordinary summer lawn at about 13–25 mm, so a 30 mm minimum cannot make a fine short cut. Litheli, Ryobi, LIGO and Forte disagree with themselves, so do not quote a single lowest setting from those pages.
When is a bare tool the right buy?
When you already own the battery and charger that the listing names. Here that is a Ryobi ONE+ owner looking at the OLM1833B. The price of about £160.20 does not include a pack, and the 250 m² bullet assumes a 5.0Ah ONE+ battery you supply. If the shelf is empty, a kit with a named battery is the purchase that can cut this weekend.
