Cordless or corded Bosch hedge trimmer

Updated: October 2026

The cable is both the annoyance and the power. You can reach a socket, or you already own Bosch 18 V packs and you are tired of the lead. A cordless or corded Bosch hedge trimmer is that choice: continuous mains, or no cable and a finite pack. The [Bosch hedge trimmer comparison](/hub/lawn-and-garden-equipment/bosch-hedge-trimmer) lists every ASIN. This page stays on the power source. Prices are the 19 October 2026 amazon.co.uk capture. What you give up with the cable

A corded Bosch cutter in this set runs for as long as the socket does. The EasyHedgeCut 45 is titled at 420 W. The UniversalHedgeCut 50 and UniversalHedgeCut 60 are titled at 480 W. You do not stop to charge. You do take on a lead that reviewers say gets cut, and UK mains at 230 V. The plug should be BS 1363. Electrical Safety First wants a splashproof outdoor socket and an RCD, because cutting the cable can cause a shock. The Health and Safety Executive says an RCD used to reduce injury risk should trip at not more than 30 mA. One EasyHedgeCut 45 review needed a two-pin to three-pin adapter. A Schuko-only plug is the wrong object for a UK socket. Mains is the better buy when the hedge is long, dense and close to that socket. Bosch DIY points large dense hedges to mains or 36 V, and the 36 V tools are not in this set. How you route the lead is on the how to use a Bosch hedge trimmer page.

What you give up with the battery

A cordless cutter removes the lead and adds a pack that runs out. Which? says cordless hedge trimmers can last 20 to 90 minutes and often take about an hour to charge. A Gardeners' World test of a supplied Easy kit reported about 50 minutes. One pole review reported about 15 to 20 minutes. Bosch DIY's claim of up to 2.5 hours on a 2.5 Ah pack is for a kit-oriented pole page, and this amazon pole is sold without a battery.

The pair in this set

The fairest price pair is the corded EasyHedgeCut 45 at about £53.95 against the EasyHedgeCut 18-45 body at about £57.00. Both are 45 cm bars, with 16 mm teeth on the corded tool and 15 mm on the cordless body. The corded listing has 4.4 from 1,319 reviews and a cable of unstated length. The cordless body has 4.4 from 1,035 reviews and excludes the battery. UK reviews put that pack and charger at about £35 to £50, so the body is no longer cheaper. The UniversalHedgeCut 18V-50 kit at about £139.94 includes a 2.5 Ah pack and an AL 1830 CV charger. The body-only version is about £99.95. Choose the kit when you own no green pack, and the body when you do. The Universal 60 power cell says battery, while its 10 m cable says mains. Who should skip each pick is on the best Bosch hedge trimmer page.

Green pack or blue pack

Green POWER FOR ALL 18 V fits the Easy cordless bodies, the Universal 18V-50 and the UniversalHedgePole 18. Blue AMPShare fits the GHE 18V-50 FP and the GHE 18V-50 TP. Bosch Professional says the two do not work together. A green pack cannot run a blue pole. Bosch Professional recommends at least a 4.0 Ah pack for the TP. Choose corded when the socket is close and the hedge is long or dense. Choose cordless when the cable is the hazard you keep creating and the pack in the shed matches the tool. If you own neither, buy the listing that includes what the motor needs: a cable on the Easy 45, or the 2.5 Ah kit.

Common questions

Is cordless weaker than corded?
Bosch DIY does not rank 18 V against 420 W or 480 W as one scale. It says 18 V suits small to medium hedges, and that large dense hedges need mains or 36 V. Corded tools in this set do not stop to charge. Cordless tools drop the lead and run out of pack.
How long does a Bosch 18 V hedge trimmer run?
There is no single runtime for these ASINs. Which? gives 20 to 90 minutes as a cross-brand guide, often with about an hour to charge. One pole review reported about 15 to 20 minutes. Bosch's 2.5 hour pole claim is on a kit-oriented page, not on the bare amazon listing.
Is the body-only price the real price?
Only if a matching pack and charger are already yours. The Easy 18-45 body is about £57.00 against the corded Easy at about £53.95, and reviews put a missing pack and charger at about £35 to £50. The Universal kit at about £139.94 includes a 2.5 Ah pack. The Professional tools are bare as well.
Can one battery run the drill and the cutter?
A green POWER FOR ALL pack can run green Easy and Universal cutters in this set, if that pack actually fits. UK reviews on the Universal 18V-50 body say some Bosch 18 V packs did not. A green pack does not run a blue GHE tool.
Does the Universal 60 count as cordless?
No. Its power cell says battery, while the title, the 480 W highlight and the 10 m cable describe a corded tool. Keep the cell as a conflict and shop it as mains. The cordless examples here are the Easy bodies, the Universal 18V-50, the DIY pole and the two blue tools.
When is a second pack worth it?
Buy a second pack when one charge leaves the hedge unfinished and you would rather swap than wait. The spare pack has to be the same family. Skip it when a corded Easy beside a socket removes the wait.
