Campingaz gas barbecue for camping and caravans

Updated: 23 October 2026

You are packing for a pitch or a motorhome weekend, and the listing says camping or caravan while the manual still forbids cooking inside the van. A Campingaz Party Grill for camping and caravan use is a carrying and site-rules problem first: which of these eight you can lift and bag, and where UK fire guidance says you must not light gas. Prices and the full table stay on the [Campingaz gas barbecue comparison](/hub/grills-and-barbecues/campingaz-gas-barbecue). Peter F. used GOV.UK, London Fire Brigade, Devon and Somerset Fire, and the amazon.co.uk weight lines on 21 October 2026. This page does not re-catalogue hoses.

What you can carry

Rank the set by kilos and whether a bag is named. The black Party Grill is 2.9 kg on CV470 and CV300, with a lid and pan named and no bag. The 400 CV is about 4.9 kg with a carry bag, if you buy a CV470 Plus yourself. The 600 is 10.7 kg on amazon (Campingaz UK prints 12 kg) with a bag, and it needs R907 or R904 plus a regulator and hose. The Attitude is about 13 to 14 kg with no bag. The Othello is a 10.5 kg plancha, also without a bag. The Xperts are about 16 kg and 27 kg and need assembly. For a boot, take the black grill or the 400 CV. For a locker, the 600 only if you can lift it and you already run R cylinders. The gas fork is on Party Grill 400 vs 600.

Where you must not light it

GOV.UK fire safety outdoors is plain: never indoors, in a tent, under an awning, or in a caravan. Store cylinders outside. Test leaks with soapy water, not a flame. Devon and Somerset Fire adds the awning and the entrance to the ban, and says not to rely on a carbon monoxide alarm in a tent. London Fire Brigade bars balconies and indoor use, and asks for level ground away from tents, sheds and fences. NHS advice matches the indoor and tent ban. A cooling barbecue still does not go inside. A title that says caravan is not a use instruction. The Party Grill manuals for the 400 and 600 family say not in caravans, cars, tents or sheds. A separate Party Grill 400 Caravan at 30 mbar is a different product. It is not ASIN B01MDQYA48. No file in this comparison names a flame-failure device. A UK review of the 400 CV says gas can keep flowing after a blow-out, which is another reason not to cook under fabric.

An outside BBQ point is not the same as cooking in the van

Hamilton Gas describes running a Party Grill 400 or 600 from an outside caravan BBQ point if you add a suitable hose and nozzle. That advice is about an exterior point on the cylinder models, outdoors. It is not permission to cook inside the van, under the awning, or on a CV cartridge bay. If your only gas is a CV470 Plus, you stay on the cartridge stove in the open air. You do not feed the van’s bottle into a CV bay. Change cylinders and light the stove outside. If a joint still bubbles, if the hose is cracked, or if anyone wants a homemade adapter, stop and use Campingaz aftersales or a competent fitter. Twin Connection kits bar tents and small enclosed spaces. Pack what you can lift, and light it in the open.

What stays in the garden

The Xpert 100 L at about 16 kg and the Xpert 200 LS Plus at 27 kg need assembly, name no bag, and name no fitting. They are not a pitch pack. The Attitude at about 13 to 14 kg and the Othello at 10.5 kg can sit on a sturdy table, but neither names a bag. The multi-burner’s 8 kg and 17 cm folded height look packable, yet the saved file has no UK review bodies and warns that international stock may differ. For a weekend away, stay with a Party Grill whose gas you already understand.

Common questions

Which of these can I actually carry to a pitch?
The black Party Grill at 2.9 kg or the 400 CV at about 4.9 kg with a bag. The 600 only if you can lift about 11 to 12 kg. Amazon prints 10.7 kg for the 600 and Campingaz UK prints 12 kg. Leave the Xperts for the garden.
Can I light it in the awning if the wind blows the flame out?
No. GOV.UK and fire-service guidance bar awnings and tents. Shut the gas, wait, and relight in the open. Do not move under fabric. Devon and Somerset Fire also says not to rely on a carbon monoxide alarm in a tent.
Can I run the 600 from the caravan’s outside gas point?
Only as an outdoor hook-up with a suitable hose on the cylinder models, as described by suppliers such as Hamilton Gas. It is not indoor cooking and it is not a CV cartridge job. The inside of the van and the awning stay off limits.
Is the Attitude light enough for a picnic table?
It will sit on a sturdy table, but at about 13 to 14 kg with no bag it is a poor picnic carry compared with the 400 CV at about 4.9 kg. Campingaz UK prints about 14 kg for the Attitude. Amazon prints about 13 kg.
What about a balcony?
London Fire Brigade says not on a balcony, including disposable barbecues. Local lease rules may add their own bans. Use a private outdoor space at ground level instead. A title that says caravan is not permission to cook on a balcony.
Where do I stop and get help?
If a joint bubbles, a hose is cracked, or someone proposes a homemade adapter. Change cylinders outside, and do not test a leak with a flame. A cooling barbecue still does not go inside the van or the tent.
