Indoor plant watering system buying guide

Updated: October 2026

You are choosing a first indoor plant watering system for a room of pots, and the twelve amazon.co.uk listings in this set do not include a garden tap. The Products Compared editorial team read those pages, and the GBP prices, on 15 October 2026. This is not a lab test. A purchase through our links can earn a commission at no extra cost to you. The [watering system for indoor plants comparison](/hub/garden-watering/watering-system-for-indoor-plants) lists each box. This page is the fork: how much water you can lift, whether every pot gets the same run, and what a weep does on a floor. It does not name a winner and it does not give assembly steps.

Start with the water, not the timer

Every pump here drinks from a container you supply. beday, IK10P-UK, ITP-153, the Wi-Fi RAINPOINT, Tipkook and Forever Speed list a pump and tube, and none lists a tank. A line that says 30 days, 30–50 days or up to 60 days is a claim about the cell. If ten drippers each move about 100 ml in a cycle you watch, that is a litre, and a 5 litre bucket is about five cycles. Do not tee the pump into the rising main. The Water Supply (Water Fittings) Regulations 1999 expect notice, in England and Wales, for a garden watering system that is not hand-operated, and backflow protection if water can touch compost. Scotland and Northern Ireland notify the same class of work. None of the twelve listings includes a BS 1363 plug.

Same drink or a different one

One timer gives every open dripper the same run. That is beday, even with a humidity probe, ITP-153, the Wi-Fi RAINPOINT, Tipkook and Forever Speed. A fern and a succulent on that clock get the same drink. IK10P-UK lists ten flow valves for up to 10 plants. Four AA cells are not in that box. The Aflybltol bag at £21.98 lists four outlets with their own valves, and its title says a 3-pack while the specification block says 1 piece. Who each short-list box is for sits on the best watering system for indoor plants page.

Leaks are the indoor problem

The failure that matters on a wooden floor is water where the plant is not. UK reviews on IK10P-UK report leaks at valves, tees and regulators. Forever Speed reviews include a bucket emptied onto the floor. beday hoses drop out, and ITP-153 kept siphoning after the pump stopped. A tray under the joints is part of the buy. Pipihome at £14.99 split between a slow spike and globes that emptied in hours. A glass lid focused the sun onto a balcony plant. A full Aflybltol bag is about 6.5 kg. If that hook fails, the flood is the whole bag.

What you can skip

A 350–500 ml globe or bag is a short trial on one small pot. Skip KAYSENSUK until the page agrees with itself: the bullets say about 5.1 cm by 13.5 cm, and the technical block says 1 × 1 × 1 cm and solar power. Do not stuff tissue in the spout. Skip AUAUY at £7.64 for a fortnight, and skip Forever Speed outdoors, because the listing says not to place it outdoors. Saved prices on 15 October 2026 run from £7.64 to £49.99. The dearer pumps buy valves, cycle-and-soak or an app, not a tank.

Common questions

Do I need a tap for an indoor plant watering system?
No. These twelve amazon.co.uk listings drink from a container, a globe or a bag. A tap timer is a different product. You fill a bucket or a bottle, and you do not tee a pump into the rising main. The Water Supply (Water Fittings) Regulations 1999 expect notice and backflow protection when a garden watering system is not hand-operated and the water can touch the supply.
How big a bucket do I need?
Large enough for the cycles you measured, and light enough to carry upstairs. None of the pump boxes includes a tank. If a test cycle moves about a litre across the pots, a 5 litre bucket is about five cycles. A 30-day battery claim does not fill that bucket. A beday review lost most of a three-week absence because the intake floated.
Can one timer water a fern and a succulent?
Only if you can turn one pot down. In this set that is IK10P-UK, with ten valves at £39.99, or the Aflybltol bag, with four taps on the bullets, if the pack that arrives matches the title. beday’s probe, the Wi-Fi app, ITP-153, Tipkook and Forever Speed still give every open dripper the same run. The succulent is the plant that gets too wet.
Will a drip kit leak on a wooden floor?
UK reviews say it can. IK10P-UK leaks at valves and tees. Forever Speed reviews include a bucket emptied onto the floor. beday hoses drop out of fittings, and ITP-153 kept siphoning after the pump stopped. Buy a pump if you will put a tray under the joints and watch one full cycle. Leave it if the boards are bare and you cannot mop the same day.
Is a 30-day line a full tank of water?
No. On these pump listings, 30 days, 30–50 days or up to 60 days is a claim about the cell. The water is the container you supply. beday UK reviews describe a battery lasting a few days to about a week on frequent runs. Forever Speed’s longer cell claim sits beside a review in which a floor was soaked after four days.
When is a watering globe enough?
When you have one small pot and a few days you can check. A 350 ml bag or a 500 ml globe is that trial. It is not ten pots, and it is not a fortnight you have not timed on that compost. Yirong’s 4.1 from 3 reviews is too thin to treat as a duration. Pipihome’s file includes globes that emptied in hours.
