Best impulse sprinkler
Updated: 23 October 2026
You want one head out of this amazon.co.uk eight, and the stars pull two ways: 4.2 on a metal sled, or 4.0 on a Gardena with far more reviews. The best impulse sprinkler here means the highest published score in this set, plus a best-value head if price is the limit, and a reason to skip each. It does not mean the best head on every UK lawn. Peter F. scored the saved listings in the [impulse sprinkler comparison](/hub/garden-watering/impulse-sprinkler). This is not a lab test. How this shortlist is scored
The score ranks these listings. It is not a laboratory result. Star points are the amazon.co.uk rating multiplied by 11 and rounded. Volume points take the logarithm of the review count, multiply by 8, round, and stop at 25, so a few thousand reviews outrank a few hundred when the stars are close. Listing points, capped at 8, add a little for a base or spike, a printed sector, metal or zinc, and a named Gardena model. No star line scores nothing on stars or volume.
The highest score is the top pick. Best value is the lowest price among listings rated at least 3.9 from at least 100 reviews. On those rules the Gardena Comfort 8141-20 scores 75. The 4.2-star FANHAO scores 71 and stays second. The Holzsammlung ABS spike scores 64 and takes best value at about £9.98.
Top pick, Gardena Comfort 8141-20
The top pick is the Gardena Comfort 8141-20 at about £25.55, with 4.0 stars from 2,064 reviews. Gardena's UK page states a throw of 5 to 12.5 metres, a sector from 25 to 360 degrees, and an area of 75 to 490 square metres. Buy it for a named spike on soil that will take a stake. Skip it on paving: this model is a plastic spike, not a weighted sled.
In the 19 reviews read, rotation failed early, including heads that stopped within a fortnight. The amazon.co.uk line says 0 months' guarantee. Gardena's UK five-year registration offer does not attach itself to that order. Setting the aim is on the how to set an impact sprinkler page. The 490 square metre figure is the top of a published band, not your lawn.
Value pick and the metal sleds
The best value is the Holzsammlung spike at about £9.98, with 3.9 stars from 125 reviews. The material line says ABS, so this is plastic. In the nine reviews read, a head stopped after 11 days and another after a few weeks. The LATERN metal spike at about £9.99 has 3.4 stars from 861 reviews, so it misses the 3.9 line.
If you need weight on hard ground, FANHAO B0H1GB2ZVQ is about £37.99, 970 g, and 4.2 from 263 reviews. A review says a Hozelock connector would not hold on the brass male end. None of these sleds creates flow the tap does not have. A head that never finishes the arc belongs on the low-pressure page.
Who should buy which
If the soil will take a stake and you want the named Gardena model, the Comfort 8141-20 is the top pick in this set. If about £10 is the limit and a short review history is acceptable, the Holzsammlung ABS spike is the best value. If the head must sit on paving, take the heaviest metal sled and sort the adaptor before you trust the brass click. A higher star line on fewer reviews does not overturn the volume rule used here.
Common questions
Which impulse sprinkler is the top pick in this set, and for whom?
The top pick is the Gardena Comfort 8141-20 at about £25.55, with 4.0 stars from 2,064 reviews. It suits a named spike on soil that will take a stake. Skip it where you need a metal sled, or if the early stop-turning notes matter more than the score.
Why is the Gardena ahead of the 4.2-star FANHAO?
The FANHAO at about £37.99 has the higher star line, 4.2 from 263 reviews, and scores 71. The Gardena's 2,064 reviews add more volume points than 263 can. Listing points also recognise the named Gardena model. A higher star rating on a smaller count is a real difference. On this method it does not overturn the review volume, so the FANHAO receives no badge.
What is the best value, and why not the £9.99 LATERN?
The best value is the Holzsammlung ABS spike at about £9.98, 3.9 stars from 125 reviews, score 64. It is the lowest price with at least 3.9 stars and at least 100 reviews. The LATERN at about £9.99 has 3.4 stars from 861 reviews, so the count is larger and the rating misses the line. The Holzsammlung material line says ABS.
Who should skip the Gardena?
Skip it if the head must stand on a patio or on ground that will not hold a spike. The registration warranty is a separate offer and does not attach itself to the amazon.co.uk order.
Who should skip the £9.98 ABS spike?
Skip the Holzsammlung if you need metal, a sled, or a longer record than 125 ratings. The printed radius of 20 to 35 feet is the seller's figure. The LATERN beside it is the metal spike, and reviews describe a stake that bends. Neither head at about £10 repairs a tap that cannot drive an arm.
Does best mean it covers 490 square metres on my tap?
The 490 square metre figure is the top of Gardena's published band for the 8141-20, in line with a full circle at a 12.5 metre throw. Your tap, hose, and a part-circle wedge will wet less. The FANHAO claim of 5,800 square feet converts to about 539 square metres and is the same kind of maximum.
