Hose reel cart with hose or without

Updated: 22 October 2026

The two products look the same from the path: a wheeled frame, a drum, a handle. A hose reel cart with hose or without is a contents question. Buy the kit when you have no hose you trust. Buy the empty cart when you already have a 12.5 mm hose shorter than the drum's stated capacity. The [hose reel cart with hose comparison](/hub/garden-watering/hose-reel-cart-with-hose) only includes kits with a hose. Kit prices are the amazon.co.uk snapshot of 19 October 2026. Empty carts are not in this table. Peter F. read the listings. There was no lab test. A qualifying purchase can earn a commission at no extra cost to you.

Same cart, two boxes

Hozelock sells the shape both ways. On the maker's assembled-cart page, 2434 is 30 m of hose and 2435 is 50 m, both described on a 60 m cart, arriving assembled. The spares catalogue lists 2398 as the 60 m cart without a hose. A capacity of 60 m is storage. It is not 60 m of hose in the box. Every card kept in this comparison names a hose. The open cart is the 2435 listing on amazon.co.uk: £71.39, 50 m, a connector set on the Amazon title, 4.5 from 7,615 reviews. The Amazon title does not say nozzle. Hozelock's page for 2435 includes one. Model 2398 is not one of the five. A saved listing for an empty Hozelock cart, ASIN B000TAQZYQ, was removed because the title said it came without equipment. That removed line was 4.2 from 1,936 reviews at £49.21. That price is not a row in the table. Blueperry, which is not amazon.co.uk, lists 2398 at about £57.92 including VAT, without a hose, with two couplings. Do not add that shop price to an Amazon hose we have not priced.

Buy the hose in the box when

Buy the kit when the hose you have is cracked, kinked shut or the wrong size, or when you have no hose. The £71.39 open cart is the kit with the review base: 50 m of 12.5 mm hose and an assembled claim. Who that kit is for is the best hose reel cart with hose page. On the brand page, 2435 is 50 m on a 60 m cart, so the drum has spare room for that hose. You still cut about 1.5 m if the 2435 FAQ applies. If you want the Ultramax hose named in the carton, that is the £92.94 cart in the same table, not a reason to buy an empty frame and hope. The cheaper kits, at £45.10, £53.09 and £32.95, are still kits. They are not a route to cart only. The kit is the wrong spend when the hose in the shed is already a sound 12.5 mm coil you mean to keep.

Bring your own hose when

Bring your own hose when it is 12.5 mm and shorter than the capacity printed for the empty cart. For a Hozelock 60 m cart, a 50 m hose of 12.5 mm is the length the 2435 kit itself uses, with room left on the drum. A longer or thicker hose is the one that will not wind. If your hose does not state 12.5 mm, do not assume it matches. Choosing 30 m against 50 m stays on the buying guide. The empty cart still needs a feeder, about 1.5 m if you copy the 2435 layout, cut from your own hose, plus tap and hose-end connectors. The double check valve on the outside tap is still not in the box. If your current hose is finished, the kit is the cleaner purchase, because a new coil to go with an empty cart was not priced here. If your hose is fine, the empty cart is the spend that does not throw a good coil away. Self-assembly showed up on the removed listing. Do not expect the kit's assembled claim to transfer to 2398.

The condition

Buy the hose in the box if you have no 12.5 mm hose you trust. In this set that points at the open cart, with the kink and first-unwind limits on the best page. Buy the empty cart if you already have that hose and it is shorter than the drum capacity, which on the Hozelock 60 m frame means you are not stuffing more than the cart is rated to hold. Do not score B000TAQZYQ as if it were still in the table. If a temporary use ban applies at your postcode, neither box should be watering the garden until the notice says so. The hose you own and the hose in the carton are the same hosepipe in law. Drain either of them before frost, as how to use a hose reel cart describes.

Common questions

I already have a hose. Do I still buy the kit?
Only if that hose is not one you trust, or it is the wrong diameter. A sound 12.5 mm hose shorter than the empty cart's capacity is a reason to buy the cart without a hose. Buying the £71.39 kit as well would give you a second coil. If the old hose kinks shut, the kit is the simpler match.
What is model 2398 compared with 2435?
On Hozelock's spares catalogue, 2398 is the 60 m cart without a hose, and 2435 is the assembled cart with 50 m. The maker's page describes 2435 as 50 m of hose on a 60 m cart. Amazon's open-cart listing is that 2435 kit, at £71.39. A 60 m figure on either model is capacity, not a 60 m hose in the box.
Will my old hose fit a 60 m cart?
It will if it is 12.5 mm and shorter than the capacity the cart states. A 50 m hose of that bore is what Hozelock pairs with the 60 m cart on the 2435 page. A thicker hose, or a coil longer than the rating, is the difficult fit described on the removed empty-cart file. Read the diameter on the hose wall first.
Is the empty cart cheaper once I buy a hose as well?
Not as a total this page can add up. The removed amazon.co.uk empty cart was £49.21, against £71.39 for the 50 m kit. Blueperry lists 2398 at about £57.92 on that shop. A new hose to go with an empty cart was not priced here. If you still need to buy the hose, the kit keeps the hose and the drum in one specification.
What if my hose is thicker than 12.5 mm?
Do not force it onto a cart specified around 12.5 mm. None of the kept listings states 19 mm. Either keep a cart rated for the hose you have, or replace the hose with a 12.5 mm coil and use the kit. The empty Hozelock 2398, on the pages used here, is that 12.5 mm class of cart.
