Hose reel cart with hose buying guide

Updated: 22 October 2026

You are at the outside tap with a heap of hose, and the title seems to offer two lengths at once. A hose reel cart with hose buying guide separates the hose in the box from the drum's storage figure, then checks bore, fittings and whether the frame arrives built. The [hose reel cart with hose comparison](/hub/garden-watering/hose-reel-cart-with-hose) lists five amazon.co.uk kits captured on 19 October 2026. This page does not name a winner. Two lengths on one title

The number that matters is the hose you can walk out of the box. On these Hozelock carts, 60 m or 45 m is often drum capacity, and the coil supplied is shorter. Hozelock's assembled-cart page describes part 2435 as 50 m of hose on a 60 m cart. That is the maker's page, not the amazon.co.uk price. The open cart is £71.39 with 50 m in the title, and the Amazon capacity line is blank, so do not invent a 60 m drum from that title alone. The Ultramax title states both: 50 m of Ultramax hose and a 60 m capacity. The Wurzberge cart is 30 m of rubber hose plus a separate 2 m leader. The Dekton listing is £32.95 with 20 m on a body of 20 x 26 x 26 cm. Who each kit is for sits on the best hose reel cart with hose page.

Bore, fittings and the feeder cut

12.5 mm outside diameter is printed on the open cart and on the Ultramax cart. A kitchen-tap fitting is a different thread. None of the five files states 19 mm. The Wurzberge diameter is not in the file, so do not assume it matches a 12.5 mm gun you already own. Fittings are where titles over-promise. The Amazon title for the open cart says a connector set and does not say nozzle. A customer question about a spray nozzle is unanswered. Hozelock's page for part 2435 includes a nozzle. The Ultramax title names a nozzle, while its included-components line names the hose and a connector set. The Wurzberge title names a spray gun. The Dekton title names a nozzle kit. The 2489 title says fittings to start watering and does not itemise them. The feeder cut, about 1.5 m on part 2435 only, is on how to use a hose reel cart. The cart does not include the double check valve the outside tap needs.

Assembled, or a box of parts

Assembled means the frame, not a hose already connected and full of water. The open cart and the Ultramax cart both say they arrive assembled. Reviews on the open cart still say the fittings are inside the drum, so the hose comes off once. The other three do not make the claim. The 2489 file's 12 UK texts are dominated by hard self-assembly: tiny picture instructions, parts forced together, and plastic that broke, with one cart taken to the tip. Style says Retractable while the operation mode is manual, so it is not an auto reel. The Wurzberge cart arrives in pieces. Reviewers often say the paper instructions were wrong, and several report connectors that blow off and wheels that snap. None of these cranks is a reliable auto-rewind. You wind after the pressure is off.

What this set actually offers

Read the material lines before you treat a title as the frame. Amazon's material line on the open cart says metal and plastic, while Hozelock's 2435 page says plastic. A Philips warranty sentence on that listing is a field error. Hozelock states five years if you register. The 4 bar figure is only on this listing, and it is a stated maximum, not a burst test. Ultramax reviews praise a tougher hose and also call it rigid and liable to pull the cart over. About 25 m or 30 m is enough only when your plot really is that walk. Empty carts belong on hose reel cart with hose or without.

Common questions

Is 60 m the hose I receive?
No. On these carts, 60 m or 45 m is often drum capacity, and the hose in the box is shorter. In this amazon.co.uk set the supplied lengths are 50 m, 50 m of Ultramax, 30 m plus a 2 m leader, 25 m, or 20 m. Hozelock's page for part 2435 says 50 m on a 60 m cart. The open-cart Amazon file names 50 m and leaves capacity blank.
Is 12.5 mm the normal UK garden hose?
It is the outside diameter printed on the open cart and on the Ultramax cart, and Screwfix lists Hozelock cart kits at 12.5 mm as well. That is the usual bore for an outdoor tap connector in those listings. The Wurzberge and Dekton files do not print a diameter. None of the five states 19 mm.
Should the drum be bigger than the hose?
Yes, when the listing gives both numbers. Spare capacity makes the rewind less of a fight, and packing the drum to the printed maximum makes winding harder. You still only receive the hose length in the title. A 50 m hose on a cart described as about 60 m is the Hozelock pattern, not an extra 10 m of pipe.
Do I lose length when I cut a feeder?
On part 2435, yes. Hozelock's FAQ says you cut about 1.5 m from the included hose, so a 50 m coil becomes about 48.5 m of working hose. That instruction is for 2435. The Wurzberge kit already includes a separate 2 m leader, so do not shorten its 30 m hose for the same reason.
Is a 20 cm plastic reel the same purchase as a wheeled cart?
No. The Dekton title says hose reel cart, with 20 m of hose and a nozzle kit, at £32.95. The item type is a hose and nozzle kit, the size is 20 x 26 x 26 cm and 2.93 kg, and the rank is hose parts. One review gives it 1.0 and says the hose kinks. It is not a stand-in for a 50 m trolley.
