Folding or fixed garden table

Updated: 23 October 2026

You have either a shed that must swallow the table after Sunday lunch, or a patio where you want the table to stay put from April to October. A folding or fixed garden table is that decision, and the two objects fail in different ways. Fold when you must store it and you will lock it every time you open it. Leave a table out only when the material is sold for that life, which the plastic party folds in this set are not. Prices and the eight names are on the [round garden table comparison](/hub/garden-furniture/round-garden-table). The figures are amazon.co.uk lines from 21 October 2026. Choose the fold if the table has to disappear

The dining-height folds are the Harbour and the YITAHOME. The Harbour is £54.49, 120 cm by 73.5 cm, 13.8 kg, folded to about 62 cm, and 4.3 from 418 ratings. Lock it before use. One UK reviewer found it hard to collapse. The YITAHOME is £40, 122 cm by 74 cm, 12.8 kg, a stated 150 kg, collapsed to about 61 cm. The listing says both ready to use and assembly required. You lift about 13 kg, and a door-width line says 132 cm. The PHI VILLA is 3.85 kg. The Byliable is 6.2 kg at 110 cm, and folding it does not make a dining table. Which name matches the job is the best round garden table.

A fold is a party top until a listing says otherwise

HDPE and a plastic trestle are built to fold and to go away, not to spend a British winter outside. The YITAHOME's 150 kg and the Byliable's 100 kg are listing figures, and neither page says it was tested to BS EN 581. You cannot copy a contract table's certificate onto these folds. Dirt ingrains in the YITAHOME's top, in a camping review. For some Harbour users, the complaint is the fold itself. A kilogram line does not close a lock you forgot. How to cover a dry top is on how to look after a round garden table.

A table you leave out is a different purchase

A table that stays out is usually timber or coated metal the maker expects to get wet. The Royal Horticultural Society says teak can stay out, and Gardens Illustrated treats teak oil as a colour choice. This folder has no teak dining table. A £322 teak side table elsewhere on amazon.co.uk was about 46 cm, not a 120 cm meal. The Grand patio does not fold: 70 cm across, 40 cm high, a stated 23 kg, at £52.63. One UK review says rain marks the top. Does not fold is not leave it out for a decade. If you need dining height outside for years, this set is the wrong shelf.

When the fold loses

The fold loses when you will not lock it, when you cannot lift about 13 kg, or when it must stand in the rain every day. The PHI VILLA loses if the glass stays out: one review reports rim rust after rain, and at 3.85 kg storing it is easy. The ZEECER was rusty after a month in one UK review, against a rust-proof bullet. If space is the constraint, store the Harbour or the YITAHOME. Do not oil an HDPE top because a teak article told you to.

Common questions

Should I buy a table that folds if I have a shed?
Yes, if you will lift it and lock it. The Harbour is 13.8 kg and about 62 cm folded. The YITAHOME is 12.8 kg and about 61 cm collapsed. The PHI VILLA is 3.85 kg if the job is a side table. A shed does not help if the fold is too awkward, which some Harbour reviewers already report, or if the flat door is narrower than the table's packed size.
Are the Harbour and the YITAHOME stable enough to eat from?
They are dining height, and UK reviewers do eat at them once they are up. The YITAHOME states 150 kg. The Harbour states no load, so you have reviews rather than a number. Neither listing claims BS EN 581. Stability on the day still depends on the lock and on flat slabs. A forgotten lock is not a sturdy table, whatever the kilogram line says.
Can I leave a folding plastic table out all winter?
Do not plan on it. These folds are party tops you store. A contract folding table that does name EN 581 still gets an indoor-storage warning against corrosion. A cover belongs on a dry top for a spell of bad weather, which is the set-up page, not a reason to leave HDPE out from November to March. Bring the Harbour and the YITAHOME in.
Which kept tables do not fold?
The Grand patio does not fold. The Shatchi does not say that it folds. The Simmer Stone's legs detach, which is not a trestle fold. The ZEECER folds only after you loosen a screw. The Harbour, YITAHOME, PHI VILLA and Byliable are the real folds, and they are four different heights. A fold at 40 cm or at 110 cm is not a stored dining table.
If I want a table that stays out, is anything in this set that product?
Not at dining height. Teak and some coated aluminium ranges are sold for that, with cushions stored and a yearly wash for hardwood. The Grand patio can remain on the patio as a low steel table, with a UK review already mentioning rain marks. The plastic dinner folds should go away. If years outside at 74 cm is the brief, shop outside this set.
