Hanging chair stand buying guide

Updated: 22 October 2026

You already know you want a freestanding frame, and the amazon.co.uk titles are doing three jobs at once. One box is a stand only. The next includes a chair. A third prints the load in pounds in the title and in kilograms on the specification row, and those lines do not always agree. This hanging chair stand buying guide puts the checks in order before you compare prices on the [hanging chair frame comparison](/hub/garden-furniture/hanging-chair-frame). The seven kept listings were read as published. There was no laboratory test. A qualifying purchase through the links can earn a commission at no extra cost to you.

Stand only, or a chair in the box

Read first whether the carton is a frame for a chair you already own. Five of the seven kept listings are stand only. The black SELFLA foldable (B0CPY9Q9RS) and the white SELFLA foldable (B0CJFGYCJ8) both say the hammock chair is not included, at about £62.99 each. The YEEFY C-stand (B0H5JKTLC7) is stand only at about £59.99. The SELFLA U-frame (B0G4M6RGZB) is one U-shaped frame at about £40.79. The GOUTIME C-stand (B0G48GM1JB) is stand only at about £49.99. If you already own the chair, those five match the job, though the hook and the load still have to match as well. Two listings are a different purchase. The Trekassy set (B0H4ZNJ16F) includes a hammock chair, a frame, and a pod, at about £132.99, for a living room, bedroom, or playroom. The WUDLEP set (B0FDGHGX41) includes a stand, a swing chair, and two pillows, at about £53.99. A higher price is not a higher load: Simply Hammocks lists the Luna Rockstone outside this table at £249.99 with a stated 120 kg, while the GOUTIME row states 158 kg at about £49.99. Read the reviews after the kilograms. Who should skip each named frame is on best hanging chair stand.

One hook or two

A hammock chair hangs from one point or from two, and a frame that cannot take your hardware wastes the tube. Tropilex's UK stands page asks you to measure the chair's hanging height first, and it describes two-point stands as more stable and lower. That is a retailer's account of its own range. It is still a useful order: height of the chair, then number of points, then the frame. The black SELFLA bullet says the stand can take one hook or two. The white file's own bullets do not repeat a hook count, so do not assume the colourway restates every line. The other rows are thinner. The U-frame bullet mentions a top connection for more than one hanging style and never says one hook versus two. The YEEFY listing includes locking carabiners and leaves a 360° question unanswered. The GOUTIME file states no hook count. The WUDLEP bullet says dual reinforced hooks, and a review describes rope on a hook that did not match the photos. If your chair uses two ropes and the stand offers one carabiner, the mismatch shows up on the first evening. Count the points on the chair before you open the price column.

Pounds, kilograms, and a row that disagrees

Read the stated load in one unit, and notice when the title and the specification row disagree. The U-frame prints 220 lb on the title and on the specification row, with no kilogram line. 220 lb is the printed figure, and it is about 100 kg if you convert it. It is not 220 kg. Reading lb as kg would roughly double the claim. The black SELFLA specification row says 136 kg, and the title says 300 lb. Those match if you read 300 lb as about 136 kg. Quote the kilogram row, and keep the pound figure as the title's way of saying the same thing. Two other files do not settle so cleanly. The YEEFY title says 350 lb and a bullet says up to 300 lb, with no kilogram row. Both figures are printed, so the larger one is not a limit you can choose because it looks stronger. The white SELFLA title says 300 lb and the specification row says 10 kg. Those lines conflict. A 10 kg row is not a corrected limit to plan a seat around. The review text on the white file matches the black ASIN, so the 4.2 from 631 is one pool, not 1,262 reviews. A shared review mentions a 200 lb sitter, which still does not turn the 10 kg row into a tested figure. Section 11 of the Consumer Rights Act 2015 says goods must match the description, and a clash of units is part of that description. A shop rule of thumb that says leave about 25% above your body weight is not a British Standard. Label it as a rule of thumb if you use it, and still start from the printed figure.

Coating, rain, and what EN 581 does not cover

Powder coating is a finish, not a winter outdoors. The U-frame bullet says to store the stand indoors after outdoor use, and the only UK review in that extract reports rust after two light showers. The black SELFLA bullet calls a matt coating anti-rust and lists no cover. The YEEFY bullet says the coating suits most weather, on a listing with one review and no review text. The Trekassy bullets place that set indoors. If the frame must stay out through November, you want a storage line you can point at. BS EN 581-2 is a catalogue standard for outdoor seating, with a 110 kg test basis, and weathering sits outside that mechanical test. A FIRA note from 4 June 2019 recorded that official methods for suspended seating were not available then. None of the seven kept listings is shown here as certified to that standard. A different shop that prints EN581 on its own stand is making that shop's claim about that other product. A stated 158 kg is still a stated 158 kg. It is not proof that a laboratory hung a swinging chair in the rain. The floor of this set is the U-frame at about £40.79. Around £50 to £63 you meet the GOUTIME at about £49.99, the WUDLEP set at about £53.99, the YEEFY at about £59.99, and both SELFLA foldables at about £62.99. The Trekassy set is about £132.99. The Luna, outside the table, is £249.99 with a stated 120 kg. Pay for a chair that is or is not in the box, a hook that matches, and a load line that does not argue with itself.

Common questions

Does stand only mean I still need a chair?
Yes. Stand only means the carton is a frame and fixings, and the seat stays the one you already own. On the black SELFLA, the white SELFLA, the YEEFY, the U-frame, and the GOUTIME, the listing says the chair is not included. The Trekassy and WUDLEP boxes do include a seat, so they are a different purchase. If you have no chair yet, a stand-only frame leaves you with a second order before anyone can sit down.
Is 220 lb the same as 220 kg?
220 lb is about 100 kg. The U-frame prints 220 lb, and that printed figure converts to about 100 kg, not to 220 kg. Reading the letters lb as kilograms overstates the listing by about double. The black SELFLA is the cleaner pair in this set: 136 kg on the specification row and 300 lb in the title describe the same claim if you convert the pounds. Quote one unit, and say which line you took it from.
Why does one listing say 350 lb and 300 lb?
The YEEFY title says 350 lb and a bullet says up to 300 lb. Both are on the same amazon.co.uk listing, and there is no kilogram row to break the tie. 350 lb is about 159 kg and 300 lb is about 136 kg, so the gap matters for a heavier adult. Keep both figures visible. Choosing the higher number because it sounds safer invents a limit the bullet did not print.
Do I need one hook or two?
You need the number your chair already uses. A single cocoon often hangs from one point. A chair with a spreader bar often uses two. The black SELFLA bullet allows one or two. Tropilex describes two-point stands as more stable and lower, on that retailer's own stands, and it still starts with hanging height. If the listing never states a hook count, as on the GOUTIME file, you are guessing until a review or a photo shows the hardware.
Is powder coating enough for a British winter?
Powder coating slows rust. It does not replace a storage line. The U-frame seller says to bring the stand indoors after outdoor use, and a UK review reports rust after two light showers. The YEEFY page says the coating suits most weather, on a file with one rating and no review text. If the frame must stay out from October to March, look for a cover or a store-dry instruction you will follow. A shop that prints EN581 is making that shop's claim. None of these seven listings is shown here as certified, and BS EN 581-2 does not cover weathering.
Is a chair-and-stand set the same purchase as a frame?
You pay for fabric as well as steel. The Trekassy set is about £132.99 with a stated 100 kg and a 2.01 m square plan. The WUDLEP set is about £53.99 and prints no load. Someone who already owns an adult egg is on the wrong rows if those two are in the basket. Go back to the five stand-only listings, then check hook and load before price.
