Balcony table and chairs

Updated: 23 October 2026

The photograph of a balcony table and chairs looks as if it will sit in the corner of a flat, and then you pull a chair out and the door will not open. You need a set for two, a weight you can ask the building about, and an open size that is actually printed. This page stays with that corner: a balcony, a side return, or a patio that only has room for two. Four-piece lounge sets appear once, as the usual mismatch. The listings are the ones on the [garden table with chairs comparison](/hub/garden-furniture/garden-table-with-chairs), with prices and weights from amazon.co.uk as filed on 21 October 2026. No national balcony load turned up in the sources used here. A qualifying purchase can earn a commission at no extra cost to you.

The space the chairs need

A 60 cm table is not a 60 cm footprint. A bistro note, presented as a rule of thumb and not as a building regulation, allows about 1.6 to 1.9 m of depth when two chairs sit opposite a 60 to 70 cm round top. You need less if the table is against the wall and only one chair pulls out. You still need depth behind the chair for your back, and a path to the door. Mark the balcony with tape before you order. Put the tape where your heels will be, not where the chair legs are in the product photo. Folding helps between uses. It does not shrink the set while you are sitting on it. If the tape crosses the doorway, a four-seat rattan set is already the wrong shape. The difference between a tall little table and a dining table is on the bistro set or dining set page. Chairs also need a floor that is flat enough for the feet. A slight fall to a balcony outlet can rock a small metal table. The yellow Grand patio reviews include a table that was not completely level. Adjustable feet are named on Withniture and on the mesh set, not on Harbour. If your slabs rock a chair, a fold-flat set is easier to take inside than a cast base you cannot collapse.

Folding sets in this comparison

Two listings say you unfold them and that assembly is not required. Harbour Housewares is the sage green bistro at £65.99, stated item weight 16.5 kg, table 60 cm across and 71 cm high, chairs about 81 cm high, 42 cm wide and 48.5 cm deep. Across 304 reviews the line is 4.6. Buyers on small patios mention the fold and a hard metal seat. Cushions are not in the box. No chair load is printed, so you do not have a kilogram to quote to anyone who asks what the chair is rated for. A second dimensions field prints 15 × 99.5 × 46 cm. That is not the open table. Use the 60 cm bullet, then add the chair depth from your tape, not from that packed line. The yellow Grand patio set is £99.98 and 16.9 kg, 4.5 from 1,067 reviews, with a chair bullet of 140 kg. It folds, and the listing says it is already assembled. The open table size is not printed. The item dimensions field is 97 × 17 × 63 cm, which is a slim packed shape, not the table you will sit at. Do not mark the balcony with 97 cm and call it the diameter. Several reviews report rust at the joints within days or weeks, including a comment about Irish weather, and the top scratches. A powder coat is not a winter guarantee. If you need the open diameter before you pay, Harbour is the folding set that prints it. If you need the 140 kg line and will watch the joints, yellow is the other folder. How those two differ from the bolt-together sets is on the how to assemble a garden table set page.

Sets you can lift and cannot fold

Cast aluminium in this batch is light and it stays the shape you built. Withniture is 12 kg, £125.99, table 60.5 cm across and 66 cm high, with a 5 cm parasol hole and no umbrella. Only 19 reviews sit behind the 4.6 line, and the title says white while a bullet says black. TangXiaoQi is also 12 kg, at £109.99, with a rose top, a 1.75 inch hole, and a chair line of 220 lb. A reviewer says the legs are too close for a parasol base. On a balcony, a base that does not slide under the table is a trip and a lost corner of floor. Buy the hole only if you have measured the space between the legs, and remember the parasol’s own weight is not in the 12 kg. Yaangagpe is 16 kg at £69.99, a PE rattan table and two chairs with 5 mm glass. The review file is four ratings. It does not fold. Sixteen kilograms is a lift down the stairs for many people, and it is not a balcony rating. An Argos Habitat Eden two-seater, outside this comparison, is about £65, folds, and is listed at 13.1 kg with a 110 kg user weight. It is a useful weight comparison, not a reason to invent a load for Harbour. If 12 to 17 kg is already awkward on your stairs, a 29.8 kg Madrid carton is the wrong delivery.

What usually does not belong up there

EVRE Madrid is a loveseat, two chairs and a coffee table at £129.99, with an item weight of 29.8 kg. The black listing’s table is about 70 × 40 × 37 cm, and the sofa bullet is about 106 cm wide. That is a corner for a garden, not the depth you were trying to save. Florence is larger again in intent: a 110 × 65 cm table at 66 cm high, 30 kg, two boxes, £199.99. On a flat balcony they are the sets people buy from a 4 seater title and then cannot place. The mesh conversation set is 26 kg and does not print an open size, with an item line of 145 × 59 × 13 cm that reads as a carton. Leave it unless you have a backyard. No UK-wide balcony kilogram was found. A lease, a freeholder or the building manager may still set one, and item weight is not that limit. Sixteen kilograms of furniture is not a floor load in kilograms per square metre, and this page will not invent the missing figure. Ask before a heavy set goes out, especially if the balcony is already tiled over a membrane you must not penetrate. The Consumer Rights Act 2015 expects the goods to match the description. It does not move a wall if you ordered a four-seat set for a two-seat floor. The decision order for frame and load, once you know the space is big enough, is the garden table with chairs buying guide.

Common questions

Will two chairs and a 60 cm table fit?
Often, if you have about 1.6 to 1.9 m of depth for chairs opposite each other, using that retail rule of thumb, or less if the table is against a wall. Harbour’s top is 60 cm across and each chair is about 48.5 cm deep, which is the chair itself, not the gap behind your back. Tape the floor. If the tape blocks the door, the set does not fit, even though the table alone looks small in the photo.
Which sets fold, and what do they weigh?
Harbour folds, lists no assembly, and states 16.5 kg at £65.99. The yellow Grand patio set folds, lists no assembly, and states 16.9 kg at £99.98. The other seven do not print a fold. Withniture and TangXiaoQi state 12 kg and stay assembled. Yaangagpe states 16 kg. Madrid states 29.8 kg. The yellow packed line of 97 × 17 × 63 cm must not be read as the open table.
Is there a legal weight limit for a balcony?
No UK-wide figure was found for this page. Your lease or the building manager may still have one. The 16.5 kg on Harbour is the item weight of the set, not a safe load for the slab. Do not add a kilograms-per-square-metre number that the listing and the public guidance used here do not give. If the balcony has a stated limit, compare it with the item weight and with the people, not with the item weight alone.
Can you leave a steel set out all winter?
You can, and the yellow set’s reviews say rust can show at the joints within days or weeks in wet weather. Harbour’s sampled reviews did not show that cluster, which is not a five-year promise. The care line on Harbour is a damp cloth. Yellow says a dry cloth. Coastal air is a known risk for powder-coated steel on other makers’ care notes. Cast aluminium at 12 kg avoids that coating chip and does not fold away. A cover is not in these boxes unless the components line says so.
Is a rattan 4-seater a balcony set?
Not the ones in this batch, unless the balcony is really a terrace. Madrid’s sofa is about 106 cm wide and the set is 29.8 kg, with a low coffee table. Florence’s table is 110 cm long. Both need assembly and more floor once you sit. A two-seat bistro is the size the tape exercise is for. Four seats in the title is how these wider sets get ordered for a Juliet balcony they will not fit.
What if the open size is not on the listing?
Do not use the packed dimensions as the table. The yellow set prints 97 × 17 × 63 cm and no open diameter. Yaangagpe prints 58 × 56.5 × 80 cm as item dimensions, not a clear top height. Cedar Madrid does not print the coffee-table height that the black listing gives as about 37 cm. If you cannot mark the floor from the page, choose Harbour’s 60 cm by 71 cm bullet or do not order until the seller states the open size.
